"The MFA’s vast collection of art and artifacts is exceptional by any standard. The museum houses one of the best collections of Korean and Japanese art in the country, the only permanent exhibition space for ancient coins in the United States, one of the world’s largest holdings of ancient Egyptian treasures, and a broad, comprehensive collection of work by John Singer Sargent. The museum’s claims to fame are so varied, in fact, you could spend weeks documenting its exceptionality. Whatever you take in during your visit, don’t miss the Claude Monet gallery in the European Wing, reinstalled in 2016 with one of the greatest caches of the Impressionist’s work outside of France, or the impressive Arts of Islamic Cultures Gallery, whose summer 2019 reinstallation was developed in collaboration with local Muslim groups. All said and done, the MFA is the crown jewel of Boston's art scene." - Elizabeth Wellington, Andrew Sessa

"Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts is a work of art itself: a grand neoclassical landmark built in 1909 and decorated with frescoes painted by John Singer Sargent, wed to an I.M. Pei–designed wing added in 1981. Inside, you’ll find one of the world’s greatest art collections, with hundreds of thousands of paintings, sculptures, photos, pieces of furniture and jewelry, and textiles from around the globe and stretching back in time to ancient Greece , Egypt, and Nubia (and cheers to any museum that has a gallery dedicated to Dionysus, the Greek god of wine). Concerts and live Shakespeare in the Calderwood Courtyard are Boston summer traditions, and the museum’s Japanese garden, Tenshin-en (the Garden of the Heart of Heaven), provides a serene escape from the hubbub of the Hub."
