"Visit the World's Largest Toy Museum The story behind the founding of the Museo del Juguete Antiguo México (Museum of the Antique Mexican Toy) is almost as charming and intriguing as the collection of toys itself. Roberto Shimizu, Sr., who founded the museum with his son, Roberto Shimizu, Jr., began collecting toys when he was a child and in the decades since, has amassed a collection of literally millions of toys. He decided it was important for the collection to be accessible and visible to the public, partly to document the history of toy-making in Mexico and the world. The space occupied by the museum covers several floors, but it's barely large enough to showcase all of Shimizu's treasures, which he has catalogued carefully in numerous notebooks and binders. That may be hard to believe, given the fact that the museum is crammed wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling with toys of every type: from plastic soldiers to board games and Barbies to model trains. The museum is a cabinet of curiosities for the kid in all of us."

"The Museo del Juguete Antiguo México is a quirky museum in Colonia Doctores that arose from architect Roberto Shimizu Kinoshita's passion for toys. The museum, as the name implies, houses an extensive collection of toys. Thousands upon thousands of toys from the 19th century to the 1980s, with a particular emphasis on those that were popular in Mexico. As you wander more than four floors, you will likely find more than a few objects that make you feel nostalgic for your childhood." - Susannah Rigg

Wonderful odd ball museum. Was expecting just old toys but actually lots of contemporary art and other oddities. Huge space so fun to explore. If you like off beat destinations highly recommend. One of the more memorable stops for us in CDMX. Reminded me a bit of PS1 in NYC where the building and space itself is part of the experience.

My daughters and I had a great time here for about 1.5 hours. They loved the old Barbies and other vintage toys and artwork. It was empty when we went on a Thursday afternoon but is a great value at only 50 pesos per person (and free for small children).

The BIGGEST HIDDEN GEM in MEXICO CITY!!!!!!!!!! One of my FAVORITE museums not only in Mexico city, but the ENTIRE WORLD!!!!!!!!! Incredible unique museum, with an infinite amount of toys to get lost in!!! Multiple floors with many rooms of unique art decor, and a beautiful rooftop overlooking the city. My favorite parts of the museum were the the SNOOPY room, KING KONG room, and room of masks!!! Plus there is a large shop to buy unique collectors toys at reasonable prices to make your own! For nostalgia lovers, trust me, DO NOT MISS this musuem!!! I could truly spend hours indulging in everything this museum has to offer. Plus the museum entry is a great price allowing anyone to simply come in, and enjoy its magic!!!!! (FYI- I did not want to post many pictures of the toys, so that guests can truly be surprised of what they find here!) Have fun!!! And thank you Museo del Juguete Antiguo México for such a great experience and for this great memory of Mexico City!!!!!!!

Google
Amazing museum. They have a little bit of everything! It's a must go to place! From old japanese toys to almost every barbie released! Tons of old mexican toys i never knew were produced as well! Amazing A few issues though: 1) all the workers were just doing stuff upstairs in one room so we couldn't buy anything at the gift shop 2) there's a room with what seeks to be 2 gay naked furries kissing, surrounded by straight pin up art... so don't bring your kids in that room. 3)the restrooms don't have toilet paper and smell

This place is absolutely magical, a full-blown nostalgia smorgasbord! If you're a kid, or simply a kid at heart, you will not regret visiting. We spent a good 3 hours here, and could have stayed longer if not for a previous engagement. Do yourself a favor, and make it a point to visit this wonderland of toys of days gone by, a simpler time.

Must do for the interior and exterior street art alone. The Roa outside is a little rough but still there and any of his work is incredible to see. The toys and various other collections inside are equally amazing.
