Model Milk

If you are in Calgary and you want to try one of Calgary's best restaurants, and a staple of this city then Model Milk is that place. This is in my opinion the best restaurant in Calgary. Why? Well the food is incomparable, delicious, well balanced, flavorful, and a whole experience for your senses. The service, well they exemplify what "Western Hospitality" is all about, simply the best in North America. And the ambiance is perfect! You are guaranteed to have an incredible time and experience here. I made the terrific decision to have dinner at the Kitchen counter and wow! It made the experience that much more enjoyable. No wonder why this place has been around for so many years, you simply cannot go wrong with it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Their calamari appetizer is the absolute best - the sauce I could eat with anything, so incredibly flavourful. The main dishes - specifically the cod was a bit too salty for my liking. The ribeye and octopus dish however were delicious. Their servers are also excellent - super attentive in filling up water, clearing plates/ cutlery.

We visited this restaurant after reading some great reviews, and it exceeded our expectations. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the food was absolutely amazing. We particularly enjoyed the fry bread, calamari, and pork—each dish was flavorful and beautifully presented. Date night for the wife and I and we decided to check out Model Milk and I'm so glad we did. We started with the Wagyu Beef Tartare and the shrimp toasties. Both were excellent but the tartare stood out for sure. This is by far the best tartare I've had ever. We shared the 18 oz prime rib for dinner. The meat was cooked perfectly with a nice crust on it and the jus complemented it well. The sides were sweet potato and a cabbage salad. I can't explain the sweet potatoe other than I had to stop eating and just take a minute to appreciate how the flavors melded so well together. We finished with the dark chocolate cremeux and again we had to stop several times to just appreciate how the flavors mixed so expertly together. Our date night was $225 for the pair, and I'd happily pay double that for the experience again.

We had an amazing dining experience at Model Milk today. Our server was kind and attentive. The food was top notch in the quality of ingredients and the execution of the chefs. There’s a reason why this place has been a local favorite for so long. They do have a few dedicated customer parking spots in the alley by the restaurant, which is a plus for a restaurant located on the busy 17th Ave. We ordered: - East coast oysters: fresh, house made sauce complemented the oysters well - Warm potato buns: a MUST TRY, the bun was super soft and paired well with the whipped butter - Fettuccini alla fideua: possibly one of the best clams in the city - I could tell they took the time to let the clam purge the sand, the clam meat was actually plump and fresh - The Burger: burger was cooked well and the side fries were perfect - Charcoal grilled striploin: steak was tender but the cut had some chewy tendons in there, which I personally do not enjoy - Model Milk Apple Pie: also a MUST TRY, this item has been a menu staple since day one apparently and for good reason. They do change their menu from time to time so we will definitely be back.

First off, service: 5/5. Excellent! We were sat at the bar…it was unbearably cold! Literally, there is a crack in the wall to the outside…we had to be moved it was so cold…that needs to be fixed! Then we were sat upstairs, felt like a walk in overflow, not ideal, but good enough. The problem is, for the prices asked for here, we expected way more. Yes, the fried chicken they are known for is excellent! But the calamari was very underwhelming. The pork (for over $46!) was just ok. It was hard to tell what was fat and what was apple or meat in the dark. Also, local beer for $11 was also a bit annoying. We’ve been here before, but I’m not sure we’ll be back…just not a memorable experience for the price asked.

Came here tonight last minute for dinner. I got the AB Pork Coppa and it was fantastic. Sometimes you have pork at a restaurant and it can be a little dry....this was the complete opposite. It has flavour and is moist. Really amazing dish. I also got the White Cheddar Apple Pie, which was good. I liked the crust and ice cream. The apples were good but I'd have added a little cinnamon to take them up a notch. Otherwise, I'd gladly eat the apple pie again.

Visiting from out of town, and this place lives up to its reputation. Delicious food. Great hospitality. The apple pie is seriously one of the best slices I’ve ever had. Ever.
