28 Best Things to Do in Barcelona

"A hot-pink logo. A giant sculpture of a Smurf posing like Frankenstein’s monster in the courtyard. And a mirrored room where hundreds of dangling diamonds change color as you walk inside. Have you got all of that? Barcelona's Moco Museum is a riot–of colors, of styles, of pushing artistic boundaries. Mainly, of joy. It may be next door to the Picasso Museum, but you’re about as far away from Picasso’s melancholic blue period as you can get. Here’s the thing: you cannot be bored here. The majority crowd is young, cool and scene-y: wearing outfits intentionally curated for the visit, with bodies contorted into angles to snap the best social-media content. After all, aesthetic impact is kind of the point of this place. Don’t be fooled though; museumgoers are very much here for the art. Discussions with animated hand gestures try to unpick what’s on the walls, while many works provoke a long-linger. Even if you hit 10,000 steps by lunchtime, Moco’s fluorescent, lively, reaction-provoking collection is a guaranteed perk-you-up. Yes, even if you’ve been known to yawn at the word “museum”. One last hack: tickets for time slots before 11am and after 6pm are cheaper." - Gemma Askham

Visiting the MOCO Museum in Barcelona was one of the highlights of my trip. It’s a place where modern, contemporary, and digital art come together in the most dynamic way — full of color, creativity, and unexpected emotions. The museum is located in the heart of El Born, inside a beautifully restored historic building that contrasts perfectly with the modern art inside. From the moment you enter, you feel the vibrant energy — each room has its own mood, from powerful visual installations to immersive digital experiences. I especially loved how the exhibition combines world-famous artists like Banksy, Basquiat, and Andy Warhol with emerging digital creators and NFT art. It’s not a typical “quiet” museum — it’s interactive, emotional, and modern. The NFT and digital rooms were fascinating — they make you reflect on how art, technology, and human creativity are merging today. Lighting, music, and the flow between rooms are very well designed, so you never feel bored or overwhelmed. The curators clearly thought about how to make art feel accessible, emotional, and current. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the museum shop also has great souvenirs and art books.

When words fail, Art creates a silent communication. I enjoyed my visit here. Amaizing organization and polite employees. I recomend it since it is a worthwhile experience for every lover of modern, contemporary and street art. You'll leave from there inspired with new perspective.

If your into modern art this is the place for you. I loved the caws statue if you enter the building. The way the old street and modern I side meld together is wonderfull. It's not the biggest museum but in this case less is more. The white and open spaces give room to really take in the beautiful works. If in town I would really recommend it.

We really enjoyed our visit to the Moco Museum. The collection is fantastic, a mix of contemporary and modern works that are both thought-provoking and fun. The space itself is beautiful, not overwhelming in size, which makes it easy to enjoy without feeling rushed. It’s conveniently located right next to the Picasso Museum, and the free audio tour adds great context to the exhibits. Overall, a wonderful museum experience that we highly recommend.

We visited the museum completely randomly and we were more than happy by this discovery in the heart of Barcelona. The museum is great, not too big, so you don’t need to plan too much time. However the artists represented are great and it is a wave of vibrant colors, life appeal and joyful.

A beautiful concept and interesting museum to visit. It's definitely not a traditional museum with paintings but rather a modern one that questions many issues we are facing in today's world. The museum is very close to Picasso museum so if you are interested in both, you can book them on the same day to make it more convenient.

Nice experience. Kids from 8 or 9 years old might enjoy it. Adults for sure. For me was the second visit after 2 years. Very nice. The only negative is the price a bit high. For that one star deduction. And of course is just my opinion. 😜

What a fantastic experience! Tucked away on the beautiful Carrer de Montcada in the El Born district, the Moco Museum is a real gem. The first thing that strikes you is the building itself – a gorgeous, historic palace that has been beautifully maintained. The contrast between this old-world architecture and the vibrant, modern art inside is just brilliant. The overall organisation of the art is captivating and helps to grasp the attention of visitors from the moment you step in. The curators have done an incredible job. The layout is minimalist and yet it feels so vibrant and interactive, allowing each piece enough space to breathe while contributing to a collective, energetic vibe. The choice of art, from KAWS to Yayoi Kusama and Andy Warhol, is ideal for the atmosphere they've cultivated. It’s fresh, relevant, and engaging. I have to give a special shout-out to the staff, who were incredibly helpful and friendly. We had a bit of a self-inflicted issue – I'd accidentally bought tickets online back in July, not realising they were for immediate use and not for a future date. I was fully expecting to have to buy new ones, but they kindly accepted our original tickets without any fuss. That kind of understanding and excellent service really sets the tone for a wonderful visit. My only minor observation, and it's a very small one, was that in the description for Banksy's work, there was no mention of him being an artist from Bristol, England. As a fellow Brit, I know he is incredibly proud of his heritage, and he is one of the core reasons Bristol has found its place on the international map. I feel he would appreciate that being mentioned! But honestly, this is a tiny detail in what was an otherwise flawless exhibition. If you're looking for a break from the classic museums and want to see a brilliantly curated collection of modern and contemporary art in a stunning setting, you absolutely have to visit the Moco. It’s an inspiring and thought-provoking couple of hours. Highly recommended!
