"While working at Momofuku in the early days, Christina Tosi—office manager at the time—started baking the occasional treat for the team. And her insanely sweet, totally novel confections quickly took off. Soon, she had her own shop next door (and now many more in NYC) where she and her staff crank out ridiculously complex layered cakes, the aptly named Compost cookies, and unusual soft-serve flavors—all simultaneously nostalgic and unlike anything you've ever tasted. There was a long lineup. We stood for more than half an hour for the soft served cereal milk. Was it worth the wait? Not really. Ice cream was different but not great. There were only 2 members of the staff preparing the ice cream. That might be why it was taking long. Would I go there again? No. See update. They don’t accept cash. Only accept card or mobile payment. Update: I previously said I won’t go there again, but based on the owner response, I realized that they are trying to improve by listening to their customers, which is good to hear. At the end of the day that is what reviews are for, to make the service better and give ppl useful information. So, yes I would give it another try.

In all honesty maybe it’s me and I like the cheap Mcdonalds sweets but this is clearly the most upsetting dessert I’ve ever tasted. I wanted to try this and $20 for ice cream, cake truffles and a shake. The shake tastes like skim milk in a cup, maybe worst. The cake truffles are very sweet, I couldn’t even finish one by myself, and I ice cream was so bad I wanted to flip it right out the window once I tasted it. It tasted salty, i couldn’t just throw out six bucks like that, im not rich. This is the one time I feel bad for writing a bad review because I expected this to be the best ever. I can say your staff was okay and did their job, they answered any questions I had and I thank them for that but sorry I’ll stick with the cheap dessert for now.

Small place, the only con is they don’t have seats, so products are exclusively to go. The soft serve is tasty, especially if you ask it with cornflakes. Loved the crack pie, it’s the best pie I’ve ever had. Staff is friendly. Service is fast. It’s a no cash place so bringing a card is mandatory.

I liked it but not loved it. I think here, you can have comments of both sides from the same product. In my opinion, you can like the products, or you won't. That's why the so many mixed reviews. Mostly because they don't sell the usual ice cream or milkshake. I see this place as a establishment where you can try new products with a different touch. In my case, I ordered the Cereal Milk Soft Serve with cereal for topping. Sadly, my four stars are only related to that product (which is not fair). I liked it, but I don't think I'd order it again. I'm not saying it was bad, it wasn't. I loved the crunchy cereal as topping, and the taste of the milk was actually like when your milk takes the flavour from the cereal. I was not a big fan of the latter. However, the person I went with, loved this product. About why I said it is not fair, it's because they offer many products and taking into account only one is not enough. That's why my goal is to eventually give it a second time, and try a new product and see how it goes. About the place, I have been reading many reviews about how hard it is to find it. I think this is a bit true, you need to pay attention to where you are going in order to find it. If you are distracted, you can miss it easily. However, I didn't see this as an issue and didn't affect my review. Place can be considered small, but for the purpose of the store and location, it doesn't matter to me. Service was great. I can't talk about price, as I only ordered the soft serve (which I think was like ~6).

Trendy over priced ice cream, but I still liked it. I got the signature cereal milk ice cream with corn flake topping. The ice cream itself had was lightly sweetened and a hint of savory salt. Very unique. If you are a die hard super sugary sweet ice cream eater I would not recommend this place for you. If you are open to something different, I would say yes. Give it a try. They take credit card only. No cash.

So, I feel like this is a love/hate review. I love the idea of Milk Bar and their diverse products. I love the chocolate pretzel soft serve, but the cereal milk soft serve is absolutely disgusting. They were sold out of the majority of things around 6pm. The staff was great. Prices were kind of high, but expected them to be above average. I would visit again, just would be sure to tell my friends to not get cereal milk.

I have dreamt of visiting this bakery of Christina's for so long! I came for my birthday from South Carolina to the Midtown Milk Bar location and got a variety bag. Compost cookie, hard as a rock, crack pie (I was dying to finally, finally have tried this!) It was gross. Some cake ball things, straight sugar, and it also came with softserved cereal milk with frosted flakes on the edges. The ice cream tasted like rotten milk. And the place is just nothing I was expecting. I'm wondering if Christina knows it's this bad? I expected a line out the door! We walked right in and were second to order. I hope she takes time out to go around to all her bakery's and figure out if they're following her directions. Right now, I'd stop and get gas station food before eating there again 😳

I am really an ice cream fan and out of the ice cream shops I’ve tried that are either famous or high rating in NYC, this is the least impressive one. I got their signature cereal milk soft serve and tbh it tastes like nothing. Corn flakes are better than the soft serve, so I just ate all the flakes and dumped the rest of ice cream. The cheddar and egg bomb I got is good, but also didn’t give a surprise. Not overpriced but 6 dollars I can get a very good soft serve at other places I have been to. If you happened to pass by, feel free to try it as it is really famous, but there is no point to come specifically if you live far.
