Tucked away in Clinton Hill, Mike's Coffee Shop serves up classic diner vibes and hearty, budget-friendly breakfast, drawing in locals and Pratt students since the '50s.
"This place should really be called Mike’s Diner, but this “coffee shop” is from a pre-Starbucks time, when coffee shops also served things like grits and hamburgers. Step into this tiny spot with chrome stools and a tin ceiling on a quiet corner of Clinton Hill, and travel back a half century. Mike's is where you should be eating pancakes and bacon on a Sunday morning when you want to reassure yourself that New York is not getting worse every year." - willa moore, bryan kim, tiffany yannetta, neha talreja
"Coffee: $1.75 On Sunday mornings, you'll find a crowd of Pratt students and people who've just come from church outside of Mike’s Coffee Shop in Clinton Hill. Nobody is really in any sort of line, but things move along quickly, and at some point you’ll make it inside the small corner spot, where you can eat buttery grits and passable hamburgers, in a space that feels like it hasn’t changed much in the last half-century. For quiet communion with french toast in a window booth, come during the week." - willa moore, molly fitzpatrick, will hartman, bryan kim, neha talreja, sonal shah
"Mike’s Coffee Shop has been a Clinton Hill staple has been around since the 1950s, serving up chicken and waffles to Pratt students and celebrities alike, including Chris Rock, Biggie Smalls, and Rosie Perez. The bright neon sign that bares its name was made by a student artist, and the place still gets a line on the weekends." - Eater Staff
"A classic New York greasy spoon that is certainly a little past its prime, yet Mike's Coffee Shop still holds its own as a Brooklyn institution. Coasting on the cachet of past celebrity regulars like Biggie Smalls, Mike's now attracts locals and tourists alike, in addition to hungry Pratt students who are lured by the cheap all day breakfast and convenience. Don't go expressly for the food, but stay for the experience, history and bottomless coffee." - Makewell

Step into Mike’s, and it feels like traveling back half a century. It’s a tiny diner on quiet corner in Clinton Hill, and it’s where you should be eating pancakes and bacon on a Sunday morning when you want to reassure yourself that New York is not getting worse every year." - Bryan Kim
