Nestled in an industrial area, this chic café serves up expertly crafted coffee, fresh-roasted beans, and delicious baked goods in a cozy outdoor setting.
"Metric Coffee opened its first cafe in 2016 at its West Town roastery, where it serves coffee brewed from freshly roasted beans and doughnuts from Brite. There are only a few seats indoors, but during warmer months customers can sit at sidewalk tables. The cafe gives baristas a chance to serve experimental drinks that other cafes don’t have. The team is working on a major expansion, including an all-day cafe in, that’s set to open in Avondale. When that space debuts, the West Town cafe with close." - Eater Staff, Ashok Selvam
"This West Town coffeemaker has a small cafe, and viewers are treated to some back-of-the-house action, with beans being poured." - Samantha Nelson, Ashok Selvam
"A leading force in modern, even experimental coffee in Chicago, Metric has pushed the envelope since its 2013 founding and continues to advance with a major expansion (including an all-day cafe) coming in 2023 to Avondale. In the meantime, its team continues to put out smooth and creamy nitro cold brew and iced espresso drinks." - Naomi Waxman
"Though sleek micro roaster Metric might be best known for its excellent coffee, the tea program here is also one of the city’s best. The team carefully sources its teas from Spirit Tea, offering a mix of whites, blacks, greens, and matcha. Unsurprisingly, its matcha has been the biggest seller lately, available both as a steamed latte and as a shaken iced drink. Metric will eventually relocate to Andersonville inside larger quarters. Stay tuned for more news." - Samantha Nelson, Eater Staff
