"Likely the largest collection of whisky in the city (aside from the Virginia ABC), McCormack's offers a serious library of whiskys, bourbons, and ryes along with, thank goodness, a knowledgeable staff to guide you through the process of tasting them. The tiny, wood-lined spot is towards the western end of the Fan on a street that gets fairly busy during drinking hours. But their southern comfort food (with late night and vegetarian-friendly menu) and, of course, highly specialized selection of whisky set them apart." - Mobelux

Great place. Unassuming and very personable. Phenomenal selection and Nick is a great host. While you’re there, pick his brain, he is a great resource on the history of whiskey and bourbon. Try the Brussels sprouts, fabulous. And the dates wrapped in bacon.

We’ve visited McCormack’s Big Whisky Grill but this was our first time at the smaller more intimate location. Nick, the bartender, was absolutely wonderful and provided us with great recommendations. They accommodated my allergy and still provided a wonderful meal. The duck was absolutely to die for and I highly recommend trying it. We look forward to returning.

Thought I would enjoy this place, but it's just overrated. First the food. Chicken wings were ok. Too dependent on the sauce. Not even salt on the actual wings. The mac and cheese...OMG delicious! Brussel sprouts really really good. Rosemary potatoes were pretty good too. The steak was slightly under medium well, but I'd rather have it under than over. Just a little salty for my taste. Service. Was ok. They do have a no hat rule so be ready for that. Atmosphere. Nice little quiet place. The bad. It's a little pretentious. We were greated well, it just gives off a snooty vibe. Some of the whiskey prices are crazy expensive. Our server seemed annoyed that I asked for an old fashioned that didn't have a high rye whiskey. Like I'm paying for it, I'll drink what I like. Also they charge you to use a credit card. That alone will keep me from coming back. You shouldn't take the added benefits from accepting cards and then charge your customers for that convenience. Also the owner seems to be somewhat of a hot head. Read all the low reviews you will see his responses. I'll wait for his response. Overall a decent place to go, but not returning.

Came in for whiskey and stayed for a few hours with my date. Our bartender Daniel (not my date) was very attentive and knowledgeable. He served me some fantastic pours after I told him my price point and some on certain pointing and vague guidance on what I liked. Great conversation and ambiance. If I had been wearing a hat, I would’ve taken it off. Highly recommend for any alcoholic.

Went in for a night cap. Nick was very knowledgeable and friendly. Surpassed our expectations with the different types of whiskeys they had. Definitely would recommend it. Visited from Miami.

Really nice little spot in the downtown Richmond area. We were a table of 4 adults and 2 kids. Adults all ordered Old Fashions and they were very good. The server was awesome very attentive knowledgeable about bourbons and suggested some for us. I had the smoked duck with grits and it was smoked perfectly. Wife had the hot honey fried chicken and she said it was great. The smoked baby back ribs were also ordered and enjoyed. This would be a five star review if they would have had everything on the menu. They were out of cheese so we could not try the Mac and Cheese which we had heard great reviews about. Because of the cheese being out of stock there were a couple dishes we could not try. Other that that overall great experience will definitely be back!

What an amazing night we had with an unplanned stop at McCormack’s. We were lucky enough to get a lesson from Mack, not to mention a fantastic appetizer. Great environment for a good conversation to wind down a crazy week. We will be visiting all of his locations. Get the pimento cheese- you won’t be sorry!

Very quiet place on Father's Day (my choice for dinner this time - oh well). The server didn't bring over the bottles for tasting like the last time we were there which was a little disappointing. Food was good.
