Marie's Soul Food

Marie was amazing helping me pick the foods I could have given my extensive allergies. The baked chicken was very flavorful and fell off the bone. The sweet potatoes had a lovely kick of cinnamon and nutmeg. I will definitely try to come back.

This was an absolute treat! We had the greens from Marie's before at festivals, like taste of Madison, but wanted to check out the full menu at the storefront. We got there today and grabbed a catfish meal. Not disappointed! The fish was perfect and the greens were just as I remember (so good. they use turkey instead of pork but are still so, so, so flavorful and deliciousnwith just a bit of heat). The Mac and cheese was above average for Madison.. I have had their fried chicken delivered, and was very good, but I am waiting to go back and try some fried chicken and wings without delivery and bet they will be even better!

Sooo good. My kids and I ordered the fried chicken family meal. We opted for the Six leg quarters. My parents lived in Atlanta for thirty years, we know fried chicken. This is the real thing, not the overly breaded pigeon parts you get at fast food chains. Huge leg quarters, perfectly fried. We got sides of collard greens, baked macaroni, and sweet potatoes. The macaroni is perfect, the greens are earthy and just a bit bitter, but with great spicing, and the sweet potatoes are incredible. The only item that didn't rise to the standard of the rest was the corn bread muffins, which were plastic-wrapped and pretty dry (mine fell apart when I unwrapped it). Seemed like they'd been sitting for a while, where the other food was very fresh made. This place is great. We're looking forward to trying their other menu items.

fried chicken 2 quarter legs. Rib meal. Had the smallest ribs of the whole rack. 3 small bones and 1 very small bone. Probably visit again and hope I get the bigger bones of the rack. fells petty af to leave this review. good food though.

I can't believe it took me this long to write a review! I've been ordering the same meal from them at least once a week for the past six months through UberEats, and let me tell you, it's been flawless every single time. My order is always spot-on, and the food tastes absolutely amazing. This place is my go-to for delivery—the food arrives hot and fresh every time! About three weeks ago, I discovered that they're closer to me than I thought, so I decided to stop by in person. The service was incredible—it felt like walking into a family member's home! You can really feel the love they put into their quality from the moment you step through the door. I even emailed them about their caramel cake not being available on UberEats sometimes, and they responded with "we got you" and fixed it right away! As someone who used to own a bakery and is super picky about sweets, that cake keeps calling me back—I always have to get two slices!

Finally made it to Marie's Soul Food and it was all fantastic!!! We hope to make it back ASAP and wish we had gone sooner. We got the Fried Chicken, Collard Greens, Red Beans and Rice, and Corn Muffin for take out. We didn't even make it home to eat it because it smelled so good. We stopped to get groceries and ended up eating it out of the back of our vehicle in a grocery store parking lot. No shame here. The fried chicken was perfectly seasoned and cooked... We couldn't believe how juicy it was and still had crispy breading with perfect flavor. The red beans and rice were delicious with great flavor and it was also the first time I had collard greens and I will be getting those again. We were able to talk with the owner Marie and she was so nice. Great place, great food, can't wait to try more of the menu items.

The food I ordered was to my liking . I have had the macaroni and cheese in the past which is normally good. A little off this time tasted like they may have added Velveeta cheese in the mix. Which is not something I prefer in my Mac and cheese. Lastly, I was disappointed with the ordering system. On the website they state they have dressing on Sundays only. When I tried to order on the app and the online website, dressing is not an option. I tried calling to discuss my ordering conflict and received a message from the restaurant stating they will not take phoned orders. This is something you may want to revisit how are customers supposed to communicate with the kitchen about these ordering issues. I suppose if someone comes in the store they can order dressing but people using the app seem to be out of luck. Her greens are always fire!! though I want to add that. Nonetheless keep supporting Marie's Soul Food people of Madison.

PLEASE make every effort to try this soul food!! I had a horrible day at work today and thought I’d treat myself by getting some food delivered tonight (I used DoorDash) and I have never been happier with a decision in my life. I got the weekly special (2pc dark chicken, 2pc catfish, collard greens, and a corn muffin) as well as a side of the sweet potatoes. I was pretty sure I believed in God before, but now my faith has been confirmed. The catfish and the chicken are juicy and flavorful with the perfect amount of breading, the greens have an amazing flavor with the perfect kick of spice, the cornbread was sooo moist, and don’t even get me started on the sweet potatoes. I have never liked sweet potatoes, but everyone online said to try them and I’m so glad I listened. Perfectly sweet with warm spices that make me feel like I’m in a cozy sweater on a crisp fall day. I am officially feral for this place. And to top it all off, my food was packed with care and cost me less than $20!! I repeat, do NOT miss an opportunity to eat here!!!
