"The most memorable dining experience of my trip was a lunch I had alone at an authentic creole Seychellois restaurant called Marie-Antoinette. Entering the restaurant felt like stepping back into the 1800s. It’s an architecturally beautiful structure, filled with paintings and old furniture, and is now a protected monument on the island. The Fonseka family have owned and run the restaurant for over 50 years and have perfected their set menu, which has never changed: batter-fried parrotfish, tuna steak, pumpkin chutney, chicken curry, eggplant fritters, all served with white rice. Every dish was delicious and the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming." - Travel + Leisure Editors

"A rambling wood-and-iron mansion with a steep metal roof stands from the Seychelles’ colonial days. Today it’s home to the oldest restaurant in this Indian Ocean island chain. Marie Antoinette’s serves up Seychellois “creole” food, a fusion of Asian, African, and French flavors. Curry wafts on the island breeze. Lace tablecloths and bird of paradise flowers frame the open-air dining rooms. Marie Antoinette’s best dishes include sweet and sour tuna steak, tangy mango salad, light eggplant fritters, and grilled red snapper in a yellow curry sauce. Pulpy, tart passionfruit juice is an ideal drink. After your meal, don’t miss turtle-watching in the backyard run. Giant Aldabran tortoises are endemic to the Seychelles, and many locals keep them as pets. Marie Antoinette’s tortoises are survivors. In 2001, after days of heavy rain caused landslides, a one-ton concrete wall fell on them. They were at first assumed dead, but all 11 survived. Their tough shells protected them, although still-visible indentations show how they were nearly crushed. If it’s lunchtime, look out for Abraham. At 60 years old, this male tortoise still has a big appetite for the ladies. His favorite mating time, the restaurant says, is noon. Beautiful restaurant with southeast Asia style decoration. Very good food. More surprising is there are some giant turtles at backyard. One of the must see spot in this island

Dining at Marie Antoinette was a truly memorable experience. The highlight was undoubtedly the octopus carry, which is, without a doubt, the best on the island. We ordered two signature dishes, and they were more than enough for the three of us, generous portions and incredible flavors. The ambiance of the restaurant is calm and inviting, perfect for a relaxed meal. The staff was exceptionally friendly, making us feel welcomed throughout our visit. If you’re looking for outstanding Creole food, Marie Antoanite is a must-visit.

Just THE restaurant in Seychelles, no beach here but food is amazing and the place makes you feel like being part of the country. Cherry on the cake they have turtles :-) The dégustation menu, veg or not is a must have. Welcome to Seychelles vibes ;-)

Not exactly cheap and even the local middle class won't often be able to afford it, so the focus is probably more on tourists. After 5 days on La Digue with its exuberant warmth, the staff seem strangely cold, almost a little distant (but never unfriendly). The service is competent and attentive and the octopus curry is definitely worth to go there. But why I 'absolutely' need a reservation is a mystery to me given the many free tables. And I probably just 'overlooked' the 50 SCR 'service charge' that suddenly appeared on the bill 😳

A very familiar restaurant, to enjoy the food calmly. We ask the tasting plate only for one and it was enough for two. So many flavors only as the kreolle cuisine does. Delicious! It has parking car

Loved this little treasure near Victoria market. Traditional Creole food, quaint atmosphere, spacious restaurant, tortoise and fish… went there to try the traditional food with my family. We ordered the set that had chicken curry, tuna steak, grilled fish, sauces, salads and some fritters. We ordered an octopus curry additionally. The food was amazing. The restaurant was big and airy with a great view. Totally recommend.

The platter is great if more than 2 people are eating, it seems to be the right amount of food. The Coconut Butter chicken is delicious as is the tuna steaks. The Takamaka chicken wings were probably the best thing on the menu, but they are quite pricey. Atmosphere was good and the servers were friendly, they just seemed backed up when we arrived and there were a total of 2 tables (ours included). There's only 1 card machine, or at least only 1 person who knew how to use a card machine so the process to leave took longer than expected.
