Marchesi 1824

Stumbled upon this Marchesi location when needing a 5pm coffee to keep exploring town having already visited their other store by the Duomo inside the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. This is a much smaller place but unlike the Galleria one, it is quieter and we only had to wait for our table about 10 minutes. Had a cafe with tortelli by recommendation of the waiter, then followed up by a couple cocktails (an aperitivo Marchesi and another version with italicus) and stuzzicchini (cocktail snacks) potato chips, olives and almonds. Everything was excellent and I wish we were hungrier so we could have tried more food options.

True classic—easily the best pastry shop in town. The pastries are incredibly fresh, and the cappuccino was spot on. The standing tables at this location make it perfect for a quick stop if you’re on the go, but they also offer a few tables in the back for those who prefer to sit and enjoy the experience. Will definitely come back the next time I visit!

Overall, great espresso and pastries. Be sure to know that it is not a sit down. Americans, pick pastries and order drinks while paying at checkout. Then get drink at the bar and can stand at bar and eat pastry and drink cappuccino or espresso. Overwhelming if it’s your first time but great experience and amazing food and drinks.

There are three Marchesi in Milan. I visited this one and it was like stepping back in time. The Wes Anderson cafe at the Prada Foundation in Milan must have used this as a model. Some of the best pastries I’ve ever had! Impeccable service, great coffee.

Had a lovely breakfast with friends at this quaint, luxurious cafe. Slightly spenny but you get what you pay for. The staff were friendly and gave us excellent recommendations - we had the veneziana and the maritozzo, both of which were delicious!

Fancy pastries, scattered service. I actually wanted to come here earlier on the day because I saw a pastry that looked amazing. Wife vetoed it though and we came back later when it had already been sold out and I'll probably never forgive her 🙂‍↔️ I had the square croissant thing, which was very nice. It had a squirt of creme diplomat in the middle which was very nice, could have done with about 50% more of it though. Wife had the creamy puffy lemon thing, which was also very nice and had a surprise raspberry jelly inside which was great. Service was very poor, not rude, just no-one to be found and we had to wander around lost for a while before we could order, pay, anything. We did come near closing though, so maybe they'd just had enough by that point 😅 It was also very pricy, and I didn't quite find it worth the price. Perhaps a sign of the late time.of day we went, but the café was completely empty when we went, so no real atmosphere to speak of. Maybe we'll come back next time earlier in the day and I'll get the pastry I originally wanted and I'll update my review. Until then, not sure about this one, looked better than it tasted.

Nice place in an old style interior, however, overpriced. Cappuccino was tasty but unremarkable compared to others you can find in Milan. Big choice of pastries in quite high price (croissant with cream € 4,5). Place with history and tradition but too expensive for more than one visit

It's a nice cafe with sophisticated service, but it's not delicious at all. And I know taste is very subjective, but for the prices they charged, you cannot have burned espresso and cappuccino that feels like warm milk only + rom baba that has artificial aftertaste. Maybe other location in the mall is better, but I think quality should be the same everywhere.
