"The Marché de Barbès is certainly the most multicultural market in the capital, as well as one of the cheapest – two reasons why it always attracts a lot of people." - The MICHELIN Guide

"Marché Barbès is underneath a train trestle at the Barbès Metro station, and the rumble of the trains above only adds to the boisterous atmosphere of the place, which is always packed to the brim with shoppers rushing around and haggling with vendors. The goods here can be much less expensive than those in other markets around town, and while you probably won’t find a rare artisanal cheese, you can stock up on necessities for the week without breaking the bank. This neighborhood is also home to a lot of Paris’s immigrants, which means a much more diverse crowd and the added benefit of North and West African spices and peppers for sale. One of the “101 things to do” in this nice city is every time to explore the authentic weekly market « Marché Barbès » that‘s right off the beaten track. It’s a great place to find seasonal fruit and veg, also fish, oysters, cheese, Arabian spices and other specialities & exotica.

Multicultural, multi-ethnical place.love this place. The market is wonderful and great with low prices. All located under the aerial Metropolitan. Just at a few steps from the Montmartre Hill.

Very crowded place, you can able to get cheap fruits/legumes. But you must immediately consume it within 2-3 days as it will get rotten soon.

Over crowded street market and lots of picking pocket people. So be very careful within this area but fruits and vegetables are very cheap there.
