We came here after a morning hike, and the food was amazing. There are plenty of options, and the portions are large. The food arrived very quickly, and the staff is incredibly friendly. The restaurant has a wide selection of ice creams, and I recommend that as a dessert. The prices are reasonable.

Mixed experience at this restaurant.
The king prawn starter looked promising—big prawns, but only three for 16 euros. They tasted good on their own, but the garlic flavor was missing despite being listed as part of the dish. The homemade Madeira bread was a disappointment—thin, with butter and garlic, but one of the least enjoyable breads I’ve had. There was a lot of it, but we ended up leaving most, which never happens.
The pizza, on the other hand, was well-made, nicely baked, with a surprising amount of garlic. It almost felt like all the garlic that should have been in the shrimp and bread was put into the pizza! It was fine for me, but a bit too much for my colleagues.
As for the restroom, it wasn’t in the best shape. One urinal was out of service with a handwritten sign, and the general condition looked worn down. The wall near the floor had noticeable moisture damage, and it didn’t leave a great impression.
Overall, it's not terrible, but for the price, you can probably find better options.

After a week of savoring traditional Portuguese dishes, we decided to try something different and visited Manifattura DinGelato in Calheta, an Italian-inspired restaurant with beautiful views of the harbor and great outside seating options.
The food was incredibly flavorful, from start to finish, and the entire meal was a delight.
The owners were wonderfully welcoming, and we had a blast chatting with them when they noticed we shared the same South African roots. It was a great experience—delicious food, amazing views, and friendly conversations!

The most delectable restaurante I got to visit on the island, delicious starters, meals and desert. Got to visit once for dinner & once for lunch. Also had a few cocktails on the side and they were all perfect. The service was friendly and even in a ruch, when the restaurant was full worked seamlessly.
If you visit you have to get the garlic bread, it is outstanding!
Would 10/10 recommend, they have a wide variety to choose from.

The salads and pizzas are both wonderful, my partner & I have been twice this week, once for lunch and once in the evening for dinner, trying different ones of both things, so good. Staff always friendly, helpful, polite, funny, even when clearly super busy and trying to help everyone. Ice-cream also lovely!
Edit - Another wonderful meal here, perfect risottos and gorgeous fresh fish.

The food was okay, the bruschetta were nice but the bread could be a bit more garlicky, the carpaccio was light and good but the pasta were overcooked. The ice creams however were delicious!

We stumbled across this place for lunch and literally chose it because the marina side tables were in the shade with an extra awning and the other place didn't have the shade.
I am so glad we dined here - it was a foodie highlight of our week long trip - that we stayed long enough to have dinner a few hours after swimming and lounging on the beach.
We ate:
foccia tomato starter (sooooo good with a thin base, puffy crust and rather large)
Fish soup as main - delicious and generous
And the grilled king prawns main, with roast vegetables and side salad.
We rolled out of there we full.
The staff were lovely, friendly, but not over the top - checked that everything was good and left us to it until they saw we might need a drink top up.
