Makiyaki Ginza Onodera

Absolutely, without a doubt, one of the best meals I've ever eaten with service to match. The wine pairing was superb. The chefs and front of house are masters of their craft. "Wonderful"! With love from the UK I highly recommend it if you find yourself wanting classic European fine dining with a Japanese twist.

Beautifully presented dishes paired with wine and whiskey were phenomenal. I can understand how this French restaurant has been keeping up with the Michelin star. Staff were great too. If you are looking for a remarkable culinary experience in Ginza, I highly recommend this place.

I’ve shared my experience on ByFood where I reserved. Intimate setting with a wood fire oven at the centre of it all. Highly recommend this place. Head chef was kind to accede to my partner’s request as he could not take anything raw. Even gave a new portion of the salmon as the first serving was too raw. Ingredients were fresh cuts of the day/season, and the hojicha leaves freshly roasted was *chef’s kiss. Check this place out and remember to reserve!

OCT 2024 Made a reservation for lunch and had the special lunch course. There were 11 dishes on the menu, most if not all are cooked using woodfire. From the counter you can see all the actions in the open kitchen. Everything was delicious; the salad was surprisingly tasty with each vegetable seasoned with a different flavor; the wagyu steak was tender and rich with the woodfire aroma infused; seafood paella can be enjoyed two ways if you can fit in a second serving; and the freshly roasted green tea using the woodfire paired with the baked creamy cheesecake was divine. Service was good and the chefs and staffs were friendly.

The French cuisine, infused with wood-fired elements, is executed with precision and well-balanced seasoning, though the smoky flavours may not appeal to everyone. While some of the meats had a slightly gamey taste, the overall quality was exceptional. The highlight of the meal was the cheesecake—a surprising favourite. It was perfectly balanced, light yet satisfying, not too sweet, and avoided being overly dry or pasty. However, the price point is very high, making it more of a splurge-worthy experience for special occasions. A memorable dining experience for those seeking refined flavours and impeccable service

All I can say is wow, this place was incredible. The brown butter and sour cream mixture for the bread is my new favourite spread. The chefs and staff were so friendly and made the experience even better. Smells great in the restaurant and the food was amazing.

Lunch was delicious and of good value. Many dishes have a fragrant wood-fire touch. Especially delicious were the wagyu bite, the hairtail fish (I would have preferred the sauce sour instead of sweet, but the fish was perfectly cooked), the clam ramen (deep yet delicate flavor) and the madeleine accompanied by tea roasted on the spot. Service was top-notched and the chefs were really friendly.

We went for dinner and it was an amazing experience. Every part of the meal was so good that it was hard to pick my favorite course. I did the pairing with my meal and the pairings were exceptional. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Japan. The staff is extremely friendly and made the experience even better. I really enjoyed the intimate setting with only 8 people dining.
