Really like this place! I took a "Love Yoga" class on a rainy Saturday evening partially because it looked interesting, and partially because it was one of the few studios in the area that had a Saturday evening class and I wanted to do yoga that day but wasn't free until after 4.
I read the website and all of the accompanying links and didn't really know what to expect, but all of the reviews sounded positive so I thought I would check it out. The teacher that day would be Alex, who was subbing for Erin.
Anyway, I ended up really liking it! As someone who has taken yoga at a lot of different studios, I will say that the focus here is less about movement and strength and more about internal focus and body control. I was a little worried that the "Love Yoga" class would not be enough of a workout, but rest assured, I still worked up a good sweat and felt a workout, though it wasn't as physically demanding as most flow classes.
Alex was absolutely amazing. She handled the classroom check in herself, and not only did she have a bright and cheery aura that was highly contagious, but she was masterful at giving a non-stop dialogue throughout the whole class that really focused on being present and aware of every aspect of your mind and body.
She went in depth on things such as proper alignment, small adjustments to make, and where to focus on. For example, a lot of yoga teachers will mention to "soften your face" during a difficult pose, but Alex mentioned trying to relax the movement of your eyes during a time when we had our eyes closed. After she mentioned that I realized that I in fact had been subconsciously moving my eyes around, but would have never noticed or thought about it. In pretty much every pose she would point out these little things to be aware of, whether it being which way your feet are pressing on the mat, or how your hip is angled.
I enjoyed it and ended up coming back on Tuesday for the flow x nidra class. Even though it was technically a flow class, the focus was again less on lots of movement and more on proper movements and internal body control. The Nidra was also super cool, it's basically a guided meditation. The best way I would describe it is a massage for your mind. The website mentions that half an hour of nidra is equal to 4 hours of sleep, which sounds like a pretty big stretch to me, but it was enjoyable.
Overall, I definitely think this is a great place to check out if you appreciate and are open to dialogue from the teacher. If you want more of a workout focused class than this might not be the place for you.
My only complaint is that there's a super bright light right outside the window and one of the windows doesn't have a shade, so if you're by the window and lying down the light shines right in your eye. I ended up by the window both nights. The first class I took I noticed it but didn't think about it it as much because we weren't on our backs as long, but during the nidra session of the Tuesday night class I took the light was shining on my face the whole nidra.
