Perhaps difficult to assess Louis Gervais Fine Foods as the reviews are a mix of bistro reviews and catering reviews. However, having had a delicious lunch there and reading through a variety of reviews, it's evident that quality and flavours are consistently excellent across both experiences. Specific notes for the onsite bistro: great outdoor patio, craft beers are available in the cooler, and I wish they would update their weekly menus consistently online (the website's latest menus were nearly 2 months previous).

The team at Louis Gervais catering provided a wonderfully festive dinner for 35 at our home. From start to finish it was amazing! Initially I met with Chloe who helped me with menu choices and provided flexible options without blinking an eye. The team kept in touch with me prior to the event to ensure I had everything I needed. On the day of our party, Jennifer arrived at the appointed time to set up and provide me with excellent instructions to execute what was a brilliant dinner! Everyone loved the food and we had plenty for all! Chef Louis followed up following the event to ensure that things had gone smoothly and arrange pick up of equipment. I was very impressed with the whole team and highly recommend them for events of all sizes.

Chef Louis, Kelly, Chef Joel, Sabine and the entire Louis Gervais team are amazing. I used their catering service for my wedding and the food and service was beyond my expectations. They're true professionals. Our whole experience working them was seamless and the food at the tasting, and event was incredible. Louis Gervais catered our wedding in August 2022. We considered several options for catering and did multiple menu tastings. We found the menu tasting offered by Louis Gervais was on another level, both in the quality of the food and the customer service from their entire team. After that it was an easy choice. The meals and the hors d'oeuvres at the wedding were a highlight for everyone. We highly recommend Louis Gervais FFC to anyone looking for a great event caterer.

We had the absolute pleasure of having Louis Gervais cater our wedding. The food and service was incredible. Everybody was raving about the canapes, entrées and deserts. The team was incredibly dialed in, and Mr. Gervais himself was in the kitchen making sure everything was tip-top. They went over and above. We had a last minute issue, completely unrelated to food service, and the team was still able to step up and help us even though it had nothing to do with them! Thank you so much for contributing to our special day.

I have been working with Louis Gervais, Kelly, and the wonderful Marnie for the last several months for my mom's 60th birthday this July. They were all absolutely wonderful and we all couldn't have asked for better service, food, and overall experience. From the beginning of the experience I worked directly with Kelly. She was incredibly professional and always answered my emails very quickly and was always super helpful. Marnie who also is the event planner was amazing as well. She ended up being at the event managing it the entire time and I couldn't have asked for someone more calm, friendly, and just overall fun to have around! I seriously ended up feeling like Marnie and the gang were family at the end of the party and loved having them around and helping me. Also, before the event when I felt a little stressed, Marnie eased all my stress and also kept me laughing which is definitely a bonus! The staff during the event were all incredible. They helped me set up and were amazing throughout the event. The food was insanely DELICIOUS. We ended up picking a family style menu and with an ever growing guest list the team was super accommodating even a few hours before the event! Also, when we had to add some vegan options a few days before they did not hesitate once to help us with that. The actual food on the event was incredible and our guests are still to this day chatting about it. Everything was perfection and myself as well as the guests and my family had no complaints or wish anything was different. Overall, I wish I could give more than 5 stars. I would definitely use both the venue and catering again.

Super responsive, fabulous menu options, incredibly talented service team, and really tasty treats. I've had Louis Gervais Fine Foods cater two events for me for ~150-170 people, and both times they have been absolutely spectacular in every respect and my guests have loved the food. Highly recommended!

I was walking in the area and noticed this cafe. We stepped inside and noticed the delicious looking baked goods and salads on display. I ended up getting a chai latte and it tasted as expected. I was not hungry enough to order some food. Service was minimal. The outdoor patio seating is nice with a small pond.

Louis and his team provided an exceptional "family-style" meal at our wedding, which was originally planned for 2020, and after a couple of postponements, we finally had our special day in 2022. Everyone enjoyed the food and the service from Louis and the team! The salmon was my favourite and I really enjoyed the salad and the lemon mini-tart.

Although in the end we didn't get to use Louis Gervais Fine Foods & Catering for our event, I just wanted to commend Kelly and Chef Louie on their efforts to provide a creative solution to assist us even though they didn't have the capacity to fully cater our event for that particular day. PS - I used to work beside their location in North Vancouver so I can attest to the fact that the food is excellent!

Very delicious beet salad and nice touch of goat cheese. Sure made it look pretty. Pastries looked yummy, will partake next time. Nice cozy feel.

Expensive prices for nothing special. Sandwiches were bland and accompanied with barely 2 tablespoons of miniature fries. Dessert choices are chain-café type baked goods. Again, nothing special. All in all, a disappointing experience.

The barista doesn't know the difference between cappuccino, latte and macchiato. He makes exactly the same thing when ordered these drinks. I had to ask him twice to make it correctly and specifically told him how to make macchiato and finally he turned his back to me and poured load of milk into the coffee. When asked to correct the mistake he because agitated and rude. Now I am heading to The next cafe to get my coffee. The barista needs to learn the difference between the drinks. Google is your friend. Do your job with pride, not as a pay cheque grabbing opportunity.

So I'm rarely in this area, but my car dealer is here so when I'm getting my car serviced I like to grab a coffee and a pastry and walk around the waterfront while I wait. My to go place when I am in this area is closed on Mondays, lucky for me I found this place. I grabbed a Americano and brioche with ham, cheese and olives. This place is pretty cool, located in a more industrial area with plenty of seating outside and in. I sat inside to watch some of the cooks / bakers do their thing. I love places with open kitchens. The coffee was excellent and that brioche was to die for!!! I will defiantly be back.

Kelly and her team listened to our needs and the challenges on providing a hot meal to healthcare workers who take their meal break at different times. Chef Louis and his team came up with a menu and a plan to meet these challenges. The food was absolutely delicious!! And it stayed HOT! The staff LOVED it. The beef was fantastic and the cake.... oh my so yummy! Days later, the staff are still raving about it. This was the best catered meals we've had for our staff. I come here when I am around the neighbourhood, which is rare, for a coffee break. The location is out of the way from other places but it never deters me when I am even close to coming down here for either something sweet, or savoury and some coffee, and whether I am sitting here, or jumping back into my car, it's always a pleasant experience. I have heard that their chocolate brownies are very good, yet this has eluded me most times, in the beginning it was just having a different craving while getting here, on my latest visit it was just that they were not yet made. They do many things here like catering food, but they also teach cooking classes right here and also sell to the general public who want to have take out, or eat in, have a coffee and have a pastry. I bought a cheese and ham scone from them, and this thing had peppers and onions in it, layered, and complex, not your simple cheese and ham. I forgot to look at what coffee they use but it was the perfect pairing as I just wanted something savoury on this day. I find everytime I come here I am welcomed with a smile. The two females that were working on this day greeted me, created some great chit chat, and provided some insight on the goods that were being sold on this day. I look forward to come again to try their cookies, and that chocolate brownie, but from the times I have been here, it has been all good!

August 2021 - Catered event for 150 people - everything was perfect! The set up, the clean up, the food (all gone), and the professional staff. So glad I have found my caterers. Will definitely use again.

They are very flexible and understanding of any requests. They make it seem like anything can happen, and they Do! Very friendly and adaptable to personalizing the catering. I also appreciate the suggestions they made!

Louis Gervais catered our wedding, in Richmond, on Aug 23, 2015 and I can honestly say that my experience with them throughout the initially contact, the planning phase and the execution on the day of our wedding, was 'exceptional'. Nicole Daniels, Sales & Event Specialist was absolutely great to deal with. She was thorough, accommodating, professional and an overall joy to work with. How many companies call you 2 days before your event to confirm the time that they will arrive at the venue and then follow up with an email that lists all of their contact information (names & cell numbers) so should you need to contact them you know they are there for you. The food was 'devine' and our guests are still talking abut it. A few of the comments are: "The food was fabulous; who are these caterers?"; "OMG the food .... where did you find them?"and "your Caterers were amazing". We also can't say enough good things about our Chef and Servers, they were delightful: The Chef, was experienced, comfortable and very competent, even for being in a strange, but well designed, kitchen. The wedding venue was outside by the pool of a friend's private home and at the end of the evening the Chef even washed their Kitchen floor before leaving; simply amazing! The Lead Server, Carmen and the 2nd Server, Jee, were on top of their game, efficiently handling and serving the Champagne for the Toasts and the Canape Food Service that followed. Both Servers interacted with our guests with such good humour while maintaining a level of professionalism. They made all of our guests feel comfortable and 'everyone' loved them. This is, bar none, one of the best companies I have ever dealt with and I would not hesitate to recommend them.

Louis Gervais recently catered our wedding and they blew it OUT OF THE PARK. We served breakfast for dinner and honestly, nearly a month later people are still talking about how awesome it was. Our appies were outstanding and for the main course we served chicken and waffles, yogurt parfaits (with the best homemade granola I've ever had) and build your own breakfast burritos. For dessert we had ice cream sandwiches with not one but three types of cookies. The late night snack were grilled cheese sandwiches with amazing homemade ketchup and BBQ sauce. Every dish was fresh, delicious, made with quality ingredients. They were able to accommodate our vegan and gluten-free friends as well; everyone left so satisfied with what they ate. Their service -- everything from working with Nicole to arrange the menu to the service day of was more than we could have expected. They went over and above every step of the way. Go get yourself a grilled cheese at their cafe and you'll see what I mean. OUT OF THE PARK!

Today I enjoyed a ham and cheese panini from this restaurant with a delicious iced tea. The panini was delicious. They did not skimp on the cheddar or the ham. I stumbled upon this place near the Auto Mile while I was getting my car serviced. I will most likely return at some point. My lunch was delicious but a bit pricey!

Did not show to my sister's party planed weeks in advance. We paid in full weeks before - do not do that. Imagine ... 70 people and no food!!! When they did not show at the agreed upon time, we called and we drove down to their facility to find out what happened... doors were locked and they were not around (Saturday Night). They would not answer phone or emails. Completely unprofessional. If you are crazy enough to take the chance to ever use this guy, call 1,2,3,4,5 days in advance to make sure he's not going to screw you and don't pay up front. Its not work. There are dozens of other options. Don't risk it.

To sum this place up: Expensive prices and hit or miss food. I work in an office nearby and if the food was consistently delicious and reasonable.. I'd be there everyday. Sadly, it's not. Also, the portions are quite small for what you pay. On the plus side, they currently have happy hour from 2-4pm. $2 for espresso drinks and $3 for espresso drinks that include milk. Their iced latte isn't bad. Every now and then you'll have a good experience and the food would be delicious! But sometimes I'm just not up for the gamble. Not when Thomas Haas is right down the street....

LOVE this place, the food and the people. Have been there several times - for a cooking class, for lunch, and they've catered two events for us. Just last weekend they catered our daughter's outdoor wedding reception and the guests raved about the food all night long - a huge success. They're always a pleasure to deal with - friendly, attentive and willing to go the extra mile with creativity and attention to detail. Great atmosphere at the shop - excellent service all round and even Chef himself is very welcoming. What I appreciate the most is that they serve good food, prepared very well with no pretentiousness. A breath of fresh air. There was a range of tastes at the last event - from mid-20's hipster types to young professionals to aunties from the prairies to urbanites with sophisticated palates. In other words, a tough crowd. And they ALL loved the food. Everything was on time and exactly as promised or even better. Anyone organizing an event knows that is golden. It's worth mentioning that I was involved in producing a series of upscale food and wine events across Canada, working with the top chefs in each city. The folks at Louis Gervais are completely professional and top rate. Highly recommended.

Nice tasty steak sandwich, great bread and cheese. Ordered additional sandwiches for coworkers and small soups. All for take out and the packaging is top notch - really shows their catering roots. Overall portioning could be larger but maybe that's the trade off for quality ingredients and packaging?

Two words would describe this business very well: Irresponsible and unprofessional. After booking a menu tasting with my fiancee a month in advance accompanied by a $107.10 deposit, we were asked a couple of days before the tasting date if we could somehow come in 2 hours earlier. After much deliberation we said sure since the date had not changed. A day later we get asked AGAIN to see if we can reschedule the tasting to some other day as the owner/chef decided to spend the whole day with his granddaughter. Sure, family is important but as a business you need to have the decency to honor your promise. What most businesses can deliver this caterer lacks badly in and that's keeping a promise. Without a doubt this has been the most unpleasant experience dealing with the most irresponsible and unprofessional group of people. On the bright side, we're so glad we're not wasting our money on such an unethical business. Do yourself a favor and take your business else where. There are far better caterers out there who can at least honor commitments.

Two weeks ago I had a large dinner party for my mom's 60th birthday. We had the party at Louis Gervais and they catered the entire event. Right when I contacted Louis Gervais and spoke to Kelly I knew that is where I wanted to have the event. Kelly was amazing right from the beginning. She answered my emails very quickly, was super professional, and very friendly. Both her and Louis are very warm people and made me feel like my mom's party was going to be very special - which it was. Marnie who is also one of the event managers was amazing! Not only was she very professional and very accommodating but also she was awesome to be around - super friendly and hilarious! I loved working with her :) We had several unique requests regarding the food, beer and wine list and throughout the entire experience they helped us with everything and "no" was never an option. Last but definitely not least as I could go on forever, the food was amazing! The guests and most importantly my mom is still talking about it to this day. It was perfect- cocktail hours, the mains, and the most beautiful cheese plates! We were so impressed by everything. Overall, I would 100 percent use them again. They were excellent and it was a first class experience. Thank you guys all so much! :)

We hosted an event on site and it was outstanding; the food, the venue, and the service. Planning was very efficient and yet flexible. The night of was a turn-key event allowing us to show up with our guest of honour and actually enjoy the event - that made an incredible difference and went beyond merely the food and venue but keeping an eye on the details for all our guests. I absolutely hope to host another event here in the future.

We had the pleasure of attending our son's and his fiancée 's engagement party in early September..hosted by our future in- laws. Louis Gervais catered the entire event. The evening was nothing short of spectacular. The staff was friendly, courteous, professional and very pleasant. The food was delicious and the wine was was always readily available. Their attention to detail was excellent. This past November my husband and I had Louis cater a smaller event. When we asked them to prepare food for 10..we were going to serve ourselves..they said they were hosting a large wedding..but would certainly accommodate us. The food again was beyond delicious..and beautifully presented.. Our guests were so impressed..and all but a little bit of cheese was eaten.. We would highly recommend Louis Gervais to cater any event,,big or small.. This will not be the last time we use this excellent catering service. Cheers, The Bells

We had a last minute Corporate Christmas function for 85 people in our home. Jennifer Greenman was our first contact. She handled our account start to finish & not a detail was missed. She was a pleasure to deal with. The first menu sent hit every mark, the rentals were perfect, the staff gracious & Louis food Fantastic. To make it even better if that's possible it looked like the party hadn't even happened the next day....super cleanup!! A huge thank you to all involved!!

Hosted a Christmas party and ordered a bunch of appetizers for the dinner portion of the event (instead of a sit-down catered meal). Asked for a sample menu with price quote, which we then tweaked to our tastes from their full menu list, which they sent as a PDF on request. Got great advice from the company on the amount of food to order -- they talked us down a bit, and we ended up getting the perfect amount. Picked up the appetizers the afternoon of the party, and everything came on simple, classy white dishes, well-wrapped and stacked for transport. Once unwrapped, everything was revealed to be nicely presented, with touches of banana leaves here and there, that kind of thing. Best of all: food was soooooo delicious. Everyone was most impressed, and the action of the party was definitely centered for a while around the unveiling of new dishes. Highlights: chicken satays with peanut sauce; firecracker prawns with chili sauce; chicken karaage; unusual but delicious dips for the vegetable crudite; amazing cheeses and cold meats served with very fresh baguette. Worth mentioning that they were willing to do a lot of the planning over email, with a minimum of phone calls.

I have been to the restaurant a few times, and the atmosphere and location is inviting and the menu appears to be well rounded. But I have to say the food is not that great especially for the top dollar they are charging. I have had 'cool' soup and recently ordered a scrambled egg wrap to go, it was warm on the outside, cold on the inside, the wrap edge was hard on one side and it came unwrapped in a paper bag. Not sure why it couldn't have been at least wrapped in a piece of wax paper or something to hold it with while eating?? So all in all, not too impressed!

I work at an office in the area and have been coming here for take-away lunch items for nearly 2.5 years now (I can't speak about the catering or cooking classes). There are few options in the area for lunch food places I can walk to. The food quality is generally good. They have a few standard items which are quite tasty, especially the grilled sandwiches. My review loses stars for service at the cafe. I typically have to wait 10-20 minutes for an order, which seems a bit long for take-away. I'm not surprised anymore when people that have ordered after me get their food before me - the organization between the order taking and food delivery is terrible. I've been waiting on several occasions where I can see my sandwich in the kitchen window, but the wait staff take forever to pack it up. I've waited over 10 minutes for a drink before. I don't even stop when the line is more than 5 people, as it will take too long to get my food (I don't get paid lunch break, so sitting in there waiting is particularly frustrating). Basically, I would suggest walking a bit further to Thomas Haas-where even if it's crammed busy in there, I can walk out with a sandwich in 5-10 minutes.

Thanks to Nicole for always being so helpful when I order lunch for our law firm's corporate meetings. The price is very reasonable for a catered lunch, the service reliable and friendly, and the sandwiches (& brownies!) well received by our practice groups.

I asked for a large seafood chowder to go and I was served a small/medium size container. I asked the server if it was a large and she said it was, I told her I didn't want it as it was not a large in my eyes. basically just a cup of soup. A medium at best. She told me it was a large, they had measured it etc. So I conceded rather than make a fuss in the restaurant. I took it back to my office and it was not very tasty. Very watery and flat with basically a lot of vegetables no barely any (if any seafood.) One tentacle of squid. I was unable to finish it due to the aftertaste and threw it out. They may do wonderful catering, but this is the second time in two weeks their lunch time staff was remiss. The other time was a friend of mine and she had miniscule portion of salad and had to point this out the staff behind the counter. Just because they have a captive customer base being so far off the beaten track doesn't mean they should take advantage of their customers.
