i finally had the chance to try kesté after talking about it for years. it has a super extensive menu with a wide variety of pizzas to choose from. for four people, we chose three pizzas (there was probably almost a full pizza still left over but we wanted to try all these flavors):
1. pistacchio & salsiccia ($23.30) [fresh pistachio pesto, sausage, fresh mozzarella, pecorino romano, basil, extra virgin olive oil] - this one came recommended by a friend, and it was excellent. i'm a huge pistachio fan, and the flavors of this one came together really well. the chewiness of the dough was also perfect. if it weren't for the fact that there were so many other options to try, this one would probably be one that i'd get again.
2. montanara sabrina ($27.45) [lightly fried pizza truffle cream base, homemade four cheeses - imported buffalo mozzarella, gran cru pecorino, caciocavallo ragusano, parmigiano reggiano, Belgioioso crescenza - basil, extra virgin olive oil, imported salame golfetta, fresh shaved truffle from Urbani] - certainly can't go wrong with an option that includes fresh shaved truffle. oh, how i wish there were more shaved truffle on this pizza, but it was still really good. the lightly fried pizza base was something that i hadn't tried before, but it added a wonderful touch to the pizza. the dough almost reminded me a little of a chinese donut (油条) and made it extra good. highly recommend!
3. kesté ($26.40) [tomato sauce, imported buffalo mozzarella, prosciutto di Parma, arugula, pecorino, basil, extra virgin olive oil] - we decided on this one since it was the namesake pizza and i love the combination of mozzarella, prosciutto, and arugula. while this pizza was still good, the other two simply outshined this one. also realized that i don't love pecorino, and the aftertaste of it distracted me from the other flavors. again, not bad but just not as great as the other two we chose!
i'm really happy we finally visited and will definitely be back to work my way through the menu! the restaurant staff were also so friendly, and the space is great for groups! they also have pizza making classes which look so fun!
