I visited this shop in San Miguel de Allende and purchased some beautiful items. I didn't realize they had a shop in Oaxaca until I walked into it today. I was so disappointed in the two girls that were working in the shop. There were no smiles or welcoming us to shop in the store. I felt very uncomfortable looking at items as one girl followed behind me folding what I was looking at. Neither of the girls were helpful, I felt so uncomfortable that I left the shop. The girls were more interested in their cell phones than helping customers! It's too bad, the shop has some lovely pieces. I went back the following day and experienced the same thing, the girls were glued to their cell phone and were very unhappy working in the shop. I hope the owner of the shop reads these reviews because it's really a sorry situation.

Of dozens of textile stores I visited, this has the highest quality fabrics and most elegant designs. 4 stars only because the prices are astonishingly high.

Considering how pricey these items are the people working are not very helpful at all. Everything is beautiful but be prepared to spend $$$ and not have a “smiley” experience

Lo que se oferta y se vende, ayuda a los artesanos que las confeccionan, por lo que es muy buena opción para ayudar a la economía de muchas comunidades indígenas que viven de los textiles.

Durante una visita a la Ciudad de Oaxaca es esencial ir a este "museo vivo" de las culturas y la diversidad oaxaqueñas. Es cierto que los precios son altos, pero el valor cultural y social de las piezas que ahí se exhiben y venden es mucho más alto. Es importante que aprendamos a apreciar y admirar la belleza y la riqueza espiritual que hay detrás de cada huipil hecho a mano y Los Baúles de Juana es un lugar perfecto para ello. Gracias a las personas tan amables que atienden el lugar, mostrándonos piezas de increíble belleza y calidad.

So we knew before we walked in that the prices would be high here. We had the privilege of meeting a weaving artist at their multigenerational studio. They showed us their work and said they ONLY trust Juana Cata to sell their work...the store is very particular about knowing their artists are the real deal. Quality and artistry matter to us. When we went there the one lady that spoke English well was more than helpful. She showed us our artists' work and explained others. Both ladies were happy to work with us even after it became obvious we were not their big ticket buyers. We are two guys that went in to by one gift and because of EXCELLENT service, bought two. Ladies in our lives will be very happy because not only are they receiving gifts but they get the standard of exceptionalism.

We went in the Oaxaca store to purchase a dress that my wife liked. I tried to pay with pesos and they said they didn't have change but I could see that they did. They urged me to pay with my debit card. When I did they ran it through the machine and acted like it wasn't working. A bad farce. I looked at my bank statement and saw the name of the store and a pending charge. I showed them that I had already paid and they lied and said. "Oh, that is our other store around the corner. I told them no and made sure I got what I paid for. They wanted me to pay twice and tried very hard to con me making up many different excuses. These people are con artists and probably get away with this all the time. DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!!!!!!!!!
