Nestled in the historic Hotel Chelsea, the Lobby Bar combines a laid-back vibe with elegant decor and artisanal cocktails, making it the perfect upscale escape.
"Lobby Bar in Hotel Chelsea is where your boss’s boss probably grabs drinks with their art advisor. It's a nice escape. You won’t hear any music, only bits of conversation from people wearing thick-rimmed glasses. Claim a barstool or a couch in the fern-lined garden room, and drink a house martini made with minimal vermouth and a to-the-brim pour of ice-cold gin or vodka. It’ll hit you fast, so get some fries to eat on the side, or plan an after-drinks dinner at Café Chelsea next door." - bryan kim, kenny yang, neha talreja, carina finn koeppicus
"Bob Dylan and Patti Smith used to hang out at Hotel Chelsea. That was over half a century ago, and the hotel has been significantly renovated since, although it still maintains some old-timey charm. On the ground floor, you’ll find the appropriately named Lobby Bar, filled with mismatched rugs, enormous chandeliers, and couches you sink into as your blood’s gin content climbs steadily upward. (Be careful with the martinis here.)" - bryan kim, will hartman, willa moore, sonal shah, neha talreja
"After a lengthy renovation, Hotel Chelsea reopened in 2022, and it got a new bar. They didn’t really put much thought into the name of that bar, but don’t let that dissuade you from coming here. At Lobby Bar, you feel like you’re drinking inside of the country estate of a well-funded aristocrat. Over the bar near the entrance, there’s a golden chandelier, and in an adjoining room you’ll find some armchairs, rugs, and a sofa nestled into a bay window. Come by for a drink when you need something quiet and upscale, and be careful with the martinis. Lobby Bar makes the coldest, strongest one we’ve had, served with an array of garnishes on the side." - bryan kim, neha talreja, sonal shah, willa moore
"Steeped in artistic history, the Lobby Bar at Hotel Chelsea is a legendary enclave where fashion luminaries gather. Against a backdrop of vibrant and eclectic decor, fashionistas indulge in meticulously crafted artisanal cocktails like the pornstar martini that match the creativity buzzing in the air. Within the walls adorned with echoes of past conversations, they share stories, aspirations, and laughter, creating an atmosphere that's both historic and avant-garde." - Ty Gaskins
"Located in the newly renovated Hotel Chelsea, Lobby Bar looks like the foyer of a gracefully aging mid-tier palace. The space features couches and armchairs, a long marble bar under a massive chandelier, and a garden room to the side where you can get some sunlight. All of that might sound stuffy, but Lobby Bar is pretty laid-back, and it’s one of our favorite spots to drink an extremely strong martini, eat some fries, and catch up with a friend. If you want to grab dinner after your drinks, head next to door to Café Chelsea." - Bryan Kim, Matt Tervooren
