Some women go weak in the knees for handbags, others jewels or perfume, but my legs buckle for boots. I'd wear them all year round if the weather permitted. So when I recently retired a pair of black boots that I had worn to shreds, I had to replace them, pronto. But finding the perfect pair of black boots that is stylish, comfortable, and can we worn with just about anything, can take months, if not years. Before my search began I was already in a panic. How would I survive the winter without black boots? Then, while walking in the Marais during the first days of the sale, I had a sudden flash: LOBATO! I quickly headed over to this super discreet temple of fabulous footwear and rang the buzzer. Miquel, the sweet owner, opened the door and within seconds I knew that my chance of finding my dream boots was looking good. Chloe, Margiela, Costume National, Branquino, Lanvin, Balenciago ' he carries the best models form the best brands. While I wouldn't have ordinarily shopped so luxuriously, Lobato was offering a straight up 50% off discount, unlike those piddly 20-30% off reductions at the big department stores. So what did I do when I spotted two fabulous pairs of black boots, a knee-high and an ankle boot (two very different styles, I might add)? I convinced myself that with a discount like that, I had to have both!!
