"Nautical Dining by the Fjord Pretty islet Lille Herbern is located in the Oslo fjord, south of the Bygdøy peninsula on the west side of Oslo. The islet used to be a waiting place for ships arriving to and departing from Oslo. Lille Herbern has been open since 1929 and is one of the older eateries in Oslo. The menu has a nautical feel, serving fresh seafood along with gorgeous views of the fjord. To get there, hop on a bus to Bygdøynes and catch the ferry from there."

Google
Such a beautiful little restaurant right off the shore of Bygdøy. You have to take a cute little ferry to get to the restaurant that fits 11 people at a time. It cost about 20-30Kr per person but it is added to your bill. The food was delicious but a little expensive.

Bit of a splurge but delicious. Lovely staff, great food and views. Would definitely come again. The ferry is cash only but you can tell them at the restaurant you have to pay for the ferry and they'll tack it into your bill.

Google
Such a great foodie experience! One of the best fresh crab salads I have ever had and one of the best quality salmon burgers so far! The restaurant sits on a small island, just a 2 minute ride from peninsula. Although prices are high, the experience is definitely worth it!

Google
Really nice place for sunny days. You need to take a small ferry boat to get on the island. Closed from mid september to may this year. The menu is short and food is fresh and good. You can find for example : fish and chips, fish soup, hamburger, Seafood, salad.

A hidden gem. Excellent food, great staff, and service. You have to take a short ride in a ferry which costs 50 kr per person and is added to the restaurant bill. The view of the shore is very nice.

Google
Really great seafood restaurant just over from the main harbour. You can take a bus but it's a short ferry boat ride (much quicker and nicer- although about €7 return), then a short hop in another little dinghy just to cross the marina. All part of the adventure. The setting was so pretty and we sat outside in the cool sun. We had a delicious sharing platter which is in 2 sections. A great wine selection, and lots of choice. The staff were very good and friendly too. Definitely a great choice for something different. Highly recommended

Google
Fantastic location and great shellfish platters. Nothing more to ask for. Simply perfect! Possible to park at the Bygdøy museums and a short walk and a even shorter ferry ride to the Island the restaurant is located on.

Both sea food and desert is on top level. Vine was very well accompanied with sea food. I just have positive words. Definitely recommend in every aspect.

Yelp
I wanted to like this place more-its got a great setting on a little island surrounded by views of the water and it takes a bit of effort to get there. You either can take a bus ($4) or what we did is take the museum ferry ($6) to stop 2-then walk about 15 minutes (but Google is messed up at the last part). Walk down a gravel road that has a barrier arm across, get on the little boat ($5) that takes you across to the tiny island (takes maybe 30 seconds), walk 5 minutes to the restaurant and put in you name (they don't take reservations and by definition you are only going there to eat outside of a beautiful day so lots of people have the same thoughts). I'd definitely go there to sit on the bar section of the patio and enjoy a glass of wine or two. We arrived pretty early -before 6 on a Sunday-so only waited like 20 minutes. The menu is really limited and as this is a seasonal restaurant-totally untrained staff. There were about 10 young servers and we probably interacted with 7 different ones-2 tried to take our order, different ones brought food, 1 didn't bring wine we ordered, another never brought the dessert we ordered after 20+ minute wait, and we eventually flagged down the only non-teenager and got our bill. Now I'm not trying to complain and everyone needs to start out somewhere but what was apparent is that there is absolutely no system whatsoever about who does what or who handles what-and it clearly wasn't a team service concept-just disorganized chaos. My wife's crab salad was decent as was my fish and chips but something we ate totally disagreed with us the next day. Can't recommend

Yelp
Excellent lunch! We hopped on a little boat and headed to the island. It's not super easy to find but it's worth it! The views were beautiful. I had the mussels. It was tasty! It had a coconut curry sauce e and came with bread. I'd highly recommend trying this spot when you head to the museums!

Yelp
One of my favorite dining experiences. Taking the very brief boat ride was so charming. Everything about this place was simply magical. We dined on a hot summer evening. The wait staff were so friendly and attentive and seemed very happy to be working there. Our son swam in the little beach nearby while the other kids explored. The food to just perfect, all of it and beautifully presented. There are many charming rooms to rent out for parties. Stunning!! Thank you

Yelp
This is a place that reminded me a bit of home (which is Greece). Very positive surprise in Oslo! Lille Herbern is a very nice restaurant on a small island close to bygdøy. It's a bit tricky to find if you haven't been there before. You basically take the last street to the right before arriving to the Viking museum. When you arrive to the water there is a little boat that takes you to the island for 30 nok. The ride takes 2 mins probably as it is very close. When you arrive to the island it's just amazing! There is a little bar and a restaurant with two cuisines, meat and fish. The bar had some reggae music and had a super nice atmosphere. You sit next to the water and when it's sunny it has this vacation feeling to it. The food and service was really good. I had the fish and chips and it was really tasty. It was a bit more gourmet than plain fish and chips and I loved it. Be prepared for some waiting time if it's weekend and good weather though! Enjoy this little hidden gem!

Yelp
Excellent food, drinks and overall service. Just... When you have a group of 20 people or more toasting in Champagne, and one person has nothing in any glass, this is still a situation that can be resolved like any 5 star establishment would. Lille Herbern chose to make the situation more embarrassing.

Yelp
This place is a gem on the Oslo restaurant scene. It's off the beaten track, but offers a beautiful setting and unparalleled views of the harbor and Oslofjorden. Grab a taxi in Oslo, walk down Herbernveien and hop on the quaint little boat that ferries you across to Lille Herbern islet. Relax, enjoy the fish soup accompanied by a glass of wine and peer at sailing yachts and harbor traffic on the fjord.

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants in the world. Amazing food, amazing staff and fantastic atmosphere. All kinds of people, even family friendly. Waited for over an hour, happily. The best San Gria we have ever had. Worth the trek to get there.

Yelp
We visited this out of the way restaurant upon the recommendation of a clerk at the maritime museum on Bygdoy. To get there, we walked about 200 meters up the road from the museum and to the left down a private drive to a marina. We rang a buzzer for the ferry, which is an open boat that accommodates 11 people. In about a minute, we were on the island and in another minute or two we were at the restaurant, which is actually the clubroom of a boating club. It was raining so we joined three birthday parties in the lovely small dining room. The large dining room windows look out at the ship channel. In better weather, there is a large deck outside. The food is exceptional! (The non-fish-eaters had hamburgers, which looked okay but....) One of us had the fish quiche, another had the fish of the day, which was pouched cod on a bed of quinoa with a divine salsa. The third had the seafood soup. All of the dishes were prepared perfectly and the tastes ere exceptional. This is a GEM!!! Impeccable service, wonderful ambiance, amazing location and view...AND...with great food! Prices are typical of Oslo...in our case, we had a bottle of wine and several beers along with our food and the bill averaged $70 USD per person. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Ahhh take me here any day! My cousin has been raving about it for some time and I decided it was my turn to try this gem out. Boy oh boy was I in for a treat. We took the bus out to the end and then hopped onto a tiny boat that took us across to the tiny island. This boat trip is maybe 8 seconds longs. Costs around 30 NOK per person and if you don't have cash you can add it to your tab at dinner. I ordered the fish soup which may be one of my favorite soups of all time. They even had gluten free bread which was one of the best surprises ever! With a bottle of white wine and a view like that I could make this a regular spot to enjoy the Oslo Fjord. We were there on a Monday, not to busy at all. But call ahead to see what the wait time is. This is on the top of my list for restaurants, the ambiance, service and food are all excellent.

Yelp
I have no words! I purchased Letsdeal certificate and called the restaurant to make a reservation. As per instructions I provided the deal code over the phone. When we got to the restaurant, the waitress asked for my letsdeal code again, however it was not visible because it had already been redeemed by the person who took my reservation over the phone PRIOR to us dinning there! When I spoke to the "guy in charge" who took my reservation and showed him the redeemed certificate on my phone, his reply was "sorry, can't help you. Many people try to do this, you must have the code" suggesting that I am being dishonest... If he had't redeem my certificate PRIOR to us going to the restaurant I would have been able to access it in Letsdeal app , as I have done many times before in other restaurants! He just doesn't know how it works! No solution was suggested.. We just left!
