The 38 Essential Santiago Restaurants

"A colorful facade, red- and white-checkered tablecloths, and paintings covering every inch of available wall space make Bar Liguria an endearing space for traditional Chilean comfort food with a side of bohemian vibes. Sopaipillas (classic deep-fried breads made with pumpkin) served with fresh pebre (traditional Chilean salsa) are a great way to start the meal before moving on to traditional dishes like ossobuco stewed in black beer or pastel de choclo chilote, a classic sweet corn and beef pie." - Bill Esparza, Hillary Eaton

"Santiago's Most Beloved Bar Liguria is an institution in Santiago . It's the default for meeting friends and colleagues over chilled draft beers called schops, or dangerously loaded cocktails. The bar scene is animated and starts in the late afternoon around happy hour and ends in the wee hours of the morning. The kitchen pumps out tasty Chilean bistro-style fare ranging from countryside rabbit in mustard sauce to their much renowned "carne mechada," a braised beef in tomato and red wine chopped up on pasta or sliced down into sandwiches. Get there early to score a table or make friends with the bartender. Best Locations: Metro Tobalaba on Luis Thayer Ojeda & Metro Manuel Montt (address listed here). Photo: Qantas"

A great classic Chilean establishment !! It was a pleasure being here. The food was delicious and everything left a mark ! The scallops with cheese was me personal favourite 🤩 the service was also attentive and friendly. A must try if you are in Santiago looking for classic food :) I would also recommend a lovely pisco sour to start

Google
Excellent spot for traditional Chilean cuisine in Providencia. Lots of local specialties to choose from , all bursting with flavour. Very unique decor and atmosphere paired with attentive service.

Wow wow wow. So good from the staff to the food to the decor. What a fantastic experience. Thank you to Erick, he was a wonderful server. His recommendations were on point. Thanks to all the staff. Please come here and try the some of the best food in Santiago!

Google
Not sure how to describe the food --- a bit of Chilean/Italian mixed together. Definitely tasty, and a great wine list. Very laid back, and by far, the service stole the show.

I have only been there once, but we tried a total of 4 dishes. All excellent. I had sea urchin (erizos) for the first time. A creamy type of ceviche. I also had abalone (locos) for the first time. It is a small portion, but it was excellent. I like mollusks in general and this might take the cake as the best. The drinks were also great (a basil-based cocktail? It was a 10). There are two main dining areas: one is darker and more suited for an intimate dining experience; the other is larger, brighter, with a very tall ceiling. Highly recommended.

Fun place. Service wasn't great because the place was full. We (4 persons) had congrio frito, mechada meat with spaghetti, merluza fish, ostiones= scallops parmesan, water, juice, all for 70,200 CLP or about 50 usd. All very good. (see photos).

Google
Good atmosphere, great food and drinks. Staff were very friendly with plenty of recommendations food and drink wise. I tried a few recommended cocktails which were nice but the highlight of the meal was the recommended cake of the day "Torta de Hojas" which stole the show. Definitely recommend dropping in for a bite and good hospitality.

We came on a Saturday night at 9:00, worried that they would stop taking new customers as they closed at 9:30. We shouldn’t have worried. They were very friendly and continued to serve and be open until 10:00! The place is huge with 3 big indoor rooms for sitting, as well as bar and outdoor. Online, they have an all-day menu that includes Chilean sandwiches. This is also available at night, but they also have another menu then that includes all the dishes you see in shared pictures. We grabbed 2 sandwiches for about 25 USD. They were big portions for my wife and I. Very tasty - we’re going to go back for proper (non-sandwich) cuisine.

Yelp
We were looking for a restaurant for our first meal in Santiago and stumbled upon this place. The interior is huge and nicely decorated with historical posters and fun art. At 6pm no wait for the four of us on a Wednesday. Service was friendly and attentive as the place was pretty quiet at this time. Yummy traditional Chilean dishes like cazuela and drinks like borgona, along with table service sopaipillas and another main dish of pork ribs. Price point is in the higher side but this is a great place for Chilean fare!

Yelp
This place was recommended to us by our hotel. It's right in the middle of a lot of restaurants so there are a lot of options. The staff was attentive and our service was prompt. It's a tad loud outside since your right on the main street. The food is typical bland Chilean cuisine. Nothing bad but everything is unseasoned. Large portions of steak and fries, but they really need to add some sauces (au poivre) to enhance the food IMO. The salmon was well relieved as well. It's fine overall but I was unimpressed and want to keep exploring other options.

Yelp
October 2024- the food was amazing! The ambience was amazing! The drinks are AMAZING! This restaurant had locals dining which is a good sign. Our waiter was so friendly and attentive. We enjoyed every dish and savored each drop of our cocktails and vino. I wish I knew about this place at the start of our trip to Santiago, so that I could have gone more than once. I'll definitely be back. Check this place out!

Yelp
Liguria is a stand out in the restaurant-rich area of Providencia. The place was packed but we managed to get a table with ease given the restaurants three floors. The food and service were great and prices were reasonable given the portion size and quality. What put this place over the top was the incredible atmosphere -- a loud bustling space with excellent decor and live music. Love love love

Yelp
We came here twice during our week in Chile. The service was great (yes all Spanish, but the English speakers would help if around). Everybody was always more than nice and helpful. Also, It seems like the tip is included automatically anywhere you go (at least in Santiago), and they set it at around 10%. Great place to eat!

Yelp
This is a cool spot. Actually I read about it and it did not appeal to me but somehow we ended up here. The food itself was just ok. There was not a big menu as its more bar than restaurant. I would go here to drink for sure and snack on some bar food but as a stand alone restaurant its just ok, hence the 4 stars and not 5. The service was good and the ambience was pretty cool. If you get a chance check it out. Worth a try.

Yelp
Good place, kind of pricey though. Waiters had an attitude but overall food was good. I came here after some Chilean friends recommended it as a good place to taste Chilean cuisine. In the end we just had some tapas. The place carries a huge offer of wines, although all I could see people drinking was beer. Will certainly visit again some other time.

Yelp
Very good food, good service and a great atmosphere. We were recommended to this place by local friends and it did not disappoint. The food was fantastic, very well made dishes and a fair amount of variety. Be aware, all entries are ala carta, so you have to add on a vegetable or starch and a salad. Entrees range from 8.000-10.000, salads and sides are 3.00+. I would go again.

Yelp
Just had a late lunch here. The eclectic atmosphere was entertaining, the food was good and the staff was terrific. What more could you ask for.

Yelp
Hey at least they have wifi, which took a while to get as they seem very protective about it....stupid. Maybe it's me they respond to (by sight) but the attitude of the waiters ....homey you don't know who I am. dp
