8 Cool Shops in Paris

"Hidden down a Parisian alleyway, Le Comptoir Général is an eclectic art space during daylight hours and a restaurant/bar after dark, all the while reveling in the creative output of marginalized peoples, particularly from Africa. Hosting everything from gallery exhibitions to film screenings to theatrical exhibitions and much more, the eclectic space is almost an art project in and of itself. There is a certain playfulness to the shaggy dog space with sections bearing strange names such as Le Cabinet de Sorcellerie (The Witchcraft Cabinet) or Le Centre des Objets Perdu (The Centre for Lost Property). Each of the displays are meant to evoke a thematically African sense of culture, via artifacts and everyday objects from African countries. In addition to the various stations of art by the impoverished, the space features a tropical smoking area that essentially holds a small jungle, dividing the two main rooms of the space.  Once the active art is over, the space becomes a bar and restaurant that caters to the young and hip of Paris. Elite partyers may seem like a strange audience for work from creators who could probably not afford a drink in the place, but Le Comptoir Général is routinely packed out for both its arty events and its party nights." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

"It's hard to describe Le Comptoir Général. It's a club, yes, but also a voodoo museum, a thrift store, and a restaurant. The North African-inspired multiplex is always filled with an incredibly diverse and attractive group of cool kids. It's no wonder Solange Knowles picked this spot to to celebrate her campaign for Eleven Paris."

The Best Montreal Bars and Cafés With Air-Conditioning | Eater Montreal

"With so many stellar dining options in Montreal, there’s usually little reason to resort to food court fare (save for the hordes of starved-for-time crowd of office workers, of course), but at the same time, few restos who can compete with sweet, sweet shopping centre A/C. Place Ville Marie’s Comptoir Général manages the best of both worlds, offering tasty (if slightly pricy) fast food options (including a taqueria and a salad counter) for those seeking refuge from the heat." - Holly Tousignant

We decided to have a drink at the last minute with a friend but we were also hungry. We chose well! Great atmosphere and cool vibes, very easygoing at the same time. The food was good, the menu is inspired from different cultures. We had a good time

LOVED this place. The staff were so friendly and helpful, the décor at atmosphere was so much fun and the food was incredible! Truly a hidden gem and right on the canal st Martin too!

I absolutely adore this bar. The design is so fun and the new entrance (since I last visited!) is really chic.

Before you enter this bar, there is an exhibition always and it makes you feel you are like in another place. The area is big and you have enough space to drink and dance. So it offers you great time with your friends. For restaurant section, you need to book in advance

Nice bar opening onto a gallery. It's a pretty nice place, with two rooms. The first one offers a more relaxed atmosphere than the second, which is more danceable. Drinks are at the usual Paris prices. I came out rather satisfied.

We visited this restaurant with our parents and loved the ambience. The staff was friendly as well. The food according to my family was great- however they had little to almost no options for vegetarians or people with allergies. So that was a bit disappointing. The cocktails were also not up to the expectation as they sounded great in the menu but felt quite watered down unfortunately. I would recommend this spot for good non-vegetarian food and the ambience though.

We chose this spot for a special gathering with friends before an important celebration, and it couldn’t have been a better choice. The dishes were fresh and flavorful, the ambiance felt warm and lively, and the staff made everyone feel truly welcome. They handled my dietary restrictions with care and attention, which made the evening even more enjoyable. A place I’d happily return to and recommend to others.
