Launderette serves up inventive New American cuisine in a stylishly converted gas station, offering everything from crafty cocktails to memorable desserts.
"Launderette seems to exist in two entirely separate worlds. By night, it’s a cute and intimate dining room set in a renovated laundromat with shared plates, and very much a place that should be on your date night roster. During brunch it transforms into a postcard-worthy spot for mimosas, pull-apart cinnamon buns, biscuit sandwiches, and whatever else people have grown accustomed to eating and drinking between the hours of 11am and 2pm on a weekend—most of them with small twists, like a salmon gravlax plate with neufchâtel butter and ash rye bread. There’s also a beautiful patio covered in small, white marble tables and big blue and white umbrellas that look like they belong on a beach somewhere in Greece." - nicolai mccrary, raphael brion, matthew jacobs
"The birthday cake ice cream sandwich is exactly what it sounds like—all the flavors of a celebratory cake in a tiny, handheld format. The cookie is a bit doughy, but in a way that prevents it from getting too firm and crumbly while hugging all that ice cream. The sprinkles on top make the entire meal feel like you just celebrated something important." - nicolai mccrary
"The Deal: Half off beers, cocktails, and wines by the glass; $5 off appetizers and burgers Housed inside (you guessed it) a converted laundromat, Launderette is probably the most attractive restaurant on the East Side. Fortunately, they aren't just trying to get by on looks—the food here is actually good. During Happy Hour, you can get $5 off appetizers and one of the best burgers in the city." - nicolai mccrary, raphael brion
"Weekend brunch at this Holly restaurant includes buttermilk pancakes, biscuit sandwiches with sunny-side eggs, latkes, pork shoulder hash with Brussels sprouts and eggs, and Turkish eggs. Brunch hours are from 11 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. There are indoor and outdoor dine-in services." - Nadia Chaudhury
"Housed inside (you guessed it) a converted laundromat, Launderette is one of the most attractive restaurants on the East Side. It’s located a few blocks away from the busyness that is East Sixth, meaning it’s a great spot for a quiet dinner or a romantic date night, but it’s also bright and airy enough to be one of our favorite brunch spots in Austin. Whether you’re ordering off their brunch, lunch, or dinner menu, you’ll probably want to finish your meal with the birthday cake ice cream sandwich—just don’t ask them to sing any songs when they bring it out.
