London in the Summer: 10 Things to See and Do

"London's big wheel The giant ferris wheel on the south bank of the Thames is made up of 32 futuristic glass capsules - all of which are sealed, air-conditioned and big enough to house 25 guests. Riding the attraction is effectively being stuck in a bubble, albeit one that offers 40km views in all directions (see if you can spot Windsor Castle in the farthest distance on a clear day). This is the wheel that never stops turning, and while views at the top are stunning, you won't feel the ascent/descent: the Eye does one full rotation every 30 minutes, and turns so slowly passengers walk on and off at ground level. Curiously there is no capsule 13; since the number is thought to be bad luck, its been replaced in the lineup by the infamous no.33."

Lovely attraction in a lovely area, lots of lovely quirky cafes in the area and the jubilee Gardens are gorgeous. Very quick to access the attraction even without fast track tickets. Full inspections/bag inspections before entering. I was asked if I was carrying any knives, which took me a little by surprise but the staff we all nice. Took my own binoculars as they were £6 to purchase. Great views, but I think it would be nice to have some background music or something on the way round.

Had such a lovely experience on the London Eye! We used the fast track option and it was 100% worth it - everything went smoothly, barely any waiting around, and we were on in no time. The views were incredible and the whole 30-minute ride felt really calm and relaxing. It was lush just taking in all of London from above. Definitely recommend it if you want something scenic and memorable without the stress!

Riding the London Eye was such a memorable experience! It gave me the most incredible views of the city — from Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament to the Thames and beyond. The whole ride felt smooth and peaceful, and the pace was just right to soak in all the sights and snap lots of great photos. As someone visiting London for the first time, this was the perfect way to get a feel for the city from above. The staff were helpful and organized, and the capsule felt safe and comfortable the entire time. If you want a beautiful, panoramic view of London — especially on a clear day — this is absolutely worth doing! A must for first-timers like me.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) Riding the London Eye was an unforgettable highlight of my trip to London. The entire experience—from the smooth boarding process to the stunning 360-degree views—was seamless and breathtaking. We booked our tickets online, which was easy and saved us time at the entrance. Opting for the Fast Track ticket was definitely worth it as it allowed us to skip the longer queues, especially since it was a busy weekend. Once inside the glass capsule, the slow and smooth rotation gave us plenty of time to soak in the sights. From the top, we had incredible views of Big Ben, St. Paul’s Cathedral, The Shard, and even glimpses beyond London on the clear day we visited. The photo opportunities were endless. The capsules were clean, spacious, and air-conditioned, with helpful touchscreen guides to point out key landmarks. The staff were professional and welcoming throughout the entire visit. Whether it’s your first time in London or a return visit, the London Eye is a must-do attraction. It’s peaceful, iconic, and offers a totally unique perspective of the city.

Google
A Must Do in London!!! The London Eye was absolutely amazing! The views from the top are unreal, you can see all the big landmarks like Big Ben, the River Thames, Tower Bridge, and more. It moves slowly and smoothly, so you get plenty of time to take it all in and snap great photos. The whole experience feels calm and peaceful, even though you’re high above the city. It’s super well organized and the staff was really friendly. Whether it’s your first time in London or not, this is one of those things that’s 100% worth doing. I’d definitely go again especially around sunset!

Google
The view from the top of the Ferris wheel is truly breathtaking, an unforgettable panorama. The slow rotation allows us to appreciate every detail of the urban landscape. An unmissable experience for those who visit the city, it offers unique and special moments. Certainly, the photos taken from above will become precious memories. I recommend that everyone experience this incredible attraction.

Google
An unforgettable experience and one of London’s most iconic attractions! The London Eye is an absolute must-see if you’re visiting the city. Standing tall at 135 meters (443 feet), it’s Europe’s tallest cantilevered observation wheel and offers spectacular 360-degree views across London. From the top, you can spot famous landmarks like Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, St Paul’s Cathedral, The Shard, Tower Bridge, and even as far as Windsor Castle on a clear day. Each capsule is spacious, fully enclosed, and air-conditioned, comfortably fitting around 25 people. The rotation is slow and steady, lasting about 30 minutes, giving you ample time to take in the views, snap photos, or just relax and watch London stretch out below you. You never feel rushed, and the pace is great even for those a bit nervous about heights. What really stands out is the smoothness of the experience – from the calm ride to the helpful staff, everything is well-organized. You can also choose from standard tickets, fast-track options, or even private pods for special occasions like birthdays or proposals. Located along the South Bank of the River Thames, the Eye is surrounded by a lively area filled with street performers, food stalls, cafes, and attractions like the Sea Life Aquarium and London Dungeon. It’s a great place to spend a few hours before or after your ride. A few tips: • Book online in advance to avoid queues, especially during weekends or school holidays. • Try to visit around sunset for the most magical views as the lights of the city begin to glow. • Don’t forget to explore nearby spots like Jubilee Gardens, which is perfect for relaxing or taking some riverside drone shots (where permitted). The London Eye is more than just a ride – it’s an experience that gives you a new perspective on this incredible city. Whether it’s your first time in London or your tenth, it never gets old.

Google
This is an excellent opportunity to get a great view of London and especially the city center tourist area. We went on a Wednesday in June and there was not a wait in line. The price is a bit expensive, but if you come to London it’s something you should do. My family loved it.

Britney M.

Yelp
I know my review isn't going to be inventing the wheel- hey it's a Ferris wheel lol pun intended! This has to be one of the biggest attractions in London. At least for tourists. And since I was a tourist, I had to go and check this out! (Naturally) It's quite impressive in person. Is this the biggest Ferris wheel ever made? I'd say yes, but I have no facts to support my claim lol It certainly looks like the biggest Ferris wheel I've ever seen.

Ted G.

Yelp
The London Eye sells timed tickets. They are not clear when ordering tickets that you are booking a time to enter a queue as opposed to a time to actually ride on The Eye. When we arrived we discovered this AND that there was a 90 minute wait to ride. We then saw hurried in the FAQ that you may have to wait up to 45 minutes. Well, they hide the wait time to get you to pre-book a non-refundable ticket then even lie in the FAQ about the actual waits. They do not offer refunds even when they oversell the number of tickets. This is clearly a tourist scam and I can only imagine how many families pay £100 plus pounds to have to walk way due to the egregiously long lines. Avoid!

Linda E.

Yelp
This attraction is very pricey & I can't imagine what families end up paying to experience this. As someone with no family, this was a doable experience. It is basically a viewing deck for the Thames & Big Ben shot. They do cram a lot of people in one pod and you get to see the views through the glass walls. I've been on it twice & it still is an enjoyable experience. They do offer a lot of touristy packages that comes with photo ops. This experience is a must for any tourist.

Teresa M.

Yelp
Almost a requirement when you visit London, and certainly a heck of a view. We had a first timer with us who wanted to give it a go, so I took my 3rd trip. Our capsule had quite a few excited kids and a couple of pretty cranky adults. The line moved quickly, and the ride is efficiently managed. Staff were friendly on arrival and exit.

Amar B.

Yelp
Booked a private pod and it was amazing, the view was really good. We booked the private pod in the V.I.P. Experiences it had a lot of space, seating area, and of course a good view!

Pavel V.

Yelp
This is a giant enclosed Ferris wheel that gives you a fantastic view of London. The line was long but moved very quickly so it didn't feel long at all. The eye moves at a slower pace so it is not scary getting on or off while it is moving. They do stop for people who need extra time to move. There is a small, very limited seating area in the middle of the pod, so if you are the last to enter you might not get a seat. The entire pod is clear so you can get a full clear view from every angle. There is a photo at the end and the side of the photo is labeled in the pod. It is a nice tourist experience.

Carroll N.

Yelp
8.25.23 Great way to see a panoramic view of the beautiful city of London. Estimated 20 people per pod. There are a few benches within the pods, but most prefer to stand by the windows. Binoculars, guidebooks, umbrellas, and ponchos are available to purchase. They also take a professional photo of each party which can be viewed and purchased at the end of the ride for 20-25 lbs. Highly recommend!

Andrea R.

Yelp
It's cool to see, but super expensive to ride it especially if you get the fast trak tickets to skip the loooog lines. I had been told it was a waste of $, but my kids really wanted to do it so I purchased tickets. We all agreed it was an overpriced 30 min, but we did see some amazing views of London and got some great pics. It's probably worth doing once - we did it and can check that one off our list!

Rosi A.

Yelp
The view of the skyline at night, with all the lights, is pretty. The organization is efficient, albeit too touristy - aka "smile, here is a photo of you, oh and visit the Shrek World in the building next door, once you are done here". Next time, I would probably just book free admission to Sky Garden ahead of time - you get a very similar experience without the attempts to cross-sell and up-sell.

April V.

Yelp
Wow! Ohhh London Eye, you had me scared for a little, only bcuz I'm scared of heights, but the ride was smooth. First off tickets cost 40 pounds. The lines can be long depending on what time of day you visit. I went 2 o'clock the line wasn't too long. Because the Eye has so many capsules, people are always hopping on and off, so it does move fast. You do not stand still, waiting forever to move. The view is breathtaking, looking over London. I was scared at first, but you can hardly feel the wheel moving. A long bench is in the middle where you can sit. It is big and spacious on the inside. Put London Eye on your to-do list of places to visit.

Robert N.

Yelp
The eye offers wonderful views of some of London's most iconic sites. From Big Ben to, Westminster Abbey, and Buckingham Palace you can see it all in a 30 minute ride to an elevated look at the city. There are long queues but purchasing a VIP experience can help to cut your wait time.

Wulfstan C.

Yelp
How much one will enjoy this clearly depends on what one is looking for, but I love ferris wheels and I love going to high places with views, and I don't really care if something is touristy or not. I think most people truly will have an idea of what this is going to be like and in my mind it does not disappoint. I've been on this twice, most recently in December, and loved it each time. We booked a time slot online ahead of time both times, and this still requires at least a little wait since the time slot if for when you can enter the queue. The first time we went on before is in the summer and the wait was about 35 minutes, although it looked like it would be longer. This last time, it was near the opening at 11 am and the line was much shorter. It took less time but not a lot less since they were this time putting fewer people into the capsules/pods and they stopped the wheel to let people on and off. In the summer, the wheel never stopped and people just got on and off while it moved (it is slow). The capsules/pods are large with a long bench in the middle but otherwise one can just walk around inside. They are glass from floor edge up. As I said, how many people are in the pods depends on crowds and time of year. When in the summer, there were about 15 people in total in our pod, This time, we had only about 8 people. The views are nice and it takes about 30 minutes to go around in theory, although in December they actually stopped it briefly for people to get on and off, so we had a little more time. It goes quickly and each time it was over before I was ready. I would gladly go back on.

Yelp
It's London..I get it. Everywhere you go in London you're paying through the nose to experience everything about one of the greatest Cities on the earth. During our family trip to London my kids really wanted to experience the London Eye and in particular the ride and views of the City. We walked up to the ticket booth to buy two Adults and two Kids tickets.......171GBP !!!! I know London is expensive but it turns out I'm now paying over 170.00 for a Ferris Wheel !! Took about 20 minutes of lining up before we got on board, very relaxing ride and took about 30 minutes with some incredible views of the City....but wow, that was an expensive nut. If you're committed to experience it, then go ahead..but be prepared

Chris A.

Yelp
If you are the kind of person that has to try all of the touristy things when you are traveling, then you should go to the London Eye. My major objection is the price - way too expensive! I feel bad for families especially.

Marlon T.

Yelp
History you're not even asking for (from Wikipedia): "Coca-Cola began to sponsor the London Eye from January 2015. On the day the sponsorship was announced the London Eye was lit in red. In February 2020, lastminute.com replaced Coca-Cola as the sponsor." So, yes, it's not the Coca Cola London Eye anymore. Yes, it's a big tourist trap, but it's actually pretty cool and worth a ride. Try to come at off-peak hours to reduce waiting time, but honestly the wait goes pretty quick. Hopefully the weather cooperates. On a nice clear day, the views at the top will be unforgettable.

JiHae L.

Yelp
I came here when it was pouring rain. Bad idea as you can hardly see anything from the top as all you see are dark clouds and drizzle drops from the windows. Anyway, I don't suggest doing the express line as it isn't worth it. Perhaps time going when the sun is about to set. I know people can reserve an entire pod to themselves, and they give you a basket full of goodies. All in all, just go when it is a clear day.

Warren D.

Yelp
Date of visit: September 6, 2022 It's such an iconic part of the London skyline for the last two decades, how can you resist visiting the giant Ferris wheel when in London for the first time, the London Eye? While not as large or impressive as the High Roller in Las Vegas, it's still plenty large and offers great views of both sides of the Thames. Being London, it isn't cheap, but the flexible ticket times allow you to fit it into your travel plans and it's not too difficult to get to from the Underground. We had to cross the Golden Jubilee bridge from the Embankment station and that dropped us into a fun area with restaurants, food trucks, and music that we probably should have taken a bit more time to explore. The experience itself was nice, we had a fun mix of people in our pod and there was plenty of space to set down our bags and snap pictures from a variety of angles. Rain can spoil both the view and your picture-taking ability so hopefully you can score a ride at a time when it isn't raining.

Michelle D.

Yelp
I enjoyed my trip on the Eye. We went with a tour guide so skipped the line and it was literally just the three of us in our own massive carriage so that probably made the experience better than if we had waited in line and been slammed in with a bunch of people. It was a good view, even on a semi-cloudy day. Lots of things to see from up top. It is a comfortable ride, not scary at all unless you really hate heights - then obviously skip it. I was pleasantly surprised with how much time we had on the way around to see everything. It was a nice add on to our London touring day. I would recommend it if you don't mind paying 40 euro or so per person, do the skip the line (if lines are a deal breaker for you like they are for me) option, and go on an least a decently clear day. Guessing on a cloudy day it would feel like a waste.

Chloe W.

Yelp
After finding a 50 percent off coupon, my friends and I decided to finally visit the London Eye. Because our timed tickets were the last time slot of the day, the line wasn't long and moved quickly. As we began our ascent, we were excited to take picture of Big Ben and Westminster Abbey and spot other landmarks. However, after about 10 minutes, we got tired of shuffling around 30 strangers in the small pod. If you really want to see a bird's eye view of London, there are plenty of less expensive places to do so.

Kenneth K.

Yelp
Right now it is the lastminute.com London Eye. As we were looking for a first attraction to do, I decided to get our tickets from their website during a post-arrive pub lunch in combination with the boat tour. They also have 3 other attractions nearby that you can also bundle: SeaLife Aquarium, London Dungeon, and Shrek's Adventure. They also sell Madame Tussaud's as a bundle but it is farther away. Getting here is easy by tube to Westminster or Waterloo. However, we took 3 trains on the District Line from Earls Court to Westminster vs the one intended train as we didn't realize the lines split out so you have to be careful. If you get off at Westminster you can have someone take your picture right outside the Palace of Westminster and Big Ben before you take the Westminster Bridge and you'll see the Eye on your left. This is a good experience to get an aerial view of London aboard what was once the worlds largest Ferris wheel when it opened in 2000 to celebrate the new millennium. It takes approximately 30 minutes which is a good time to view everything. The one thing we wish they had is some sort of guide to point out what you see as we had asked others in our capsule and surprisingly they knew as they all came from elsewhere in Europe and the US.

Steve S.

Yelp
It is always fun to travel and discover new things. With the kids, they see it so differently. Something we look at as old they see for the first mind blown

Erica C.

Yelp
04/04/2023- we bought fast pass prior to arriving in England to avoid all the normal purchased passes or those without tickets. We walked right pass all those waiting in line for hours and had no line. A simple question and 5 minutes later we were on the ride for a 30 minute journey. Check out the photos. See the line and get the fast pass. Stand in the the right line as well!!

Matt K.

Yelp
Very popular tourist attraction, but in my opinion is not worth the cost. We paid ~£40 per person for a ride ~11:45am and the views were kinda boring. You can see Big Ben, Westminster Hall, the London skyline, etc, but honestly the London Skyline really isn't that spectacular. Maybe during sunset it would be prettier, but the line could be quite long. I suggest spending your time walking around instead.

Chris A.

Yelp
London eye was very cool, finally got the chance to see it after walking around the city

Tim B.

Yelp
Great views on London and its must-see places of attraction. Had to wait in line though for about 30 minutes, but the night view did worth it, for sure.

Jordan H.

Yelp
The London eye was a great experience. Originally I didn't want to do it but my friend got an extra ticket so I joined them and was so happy I did. When we arrived there was no line, they just scan our ticket and we walked right up. The one we got was extremely clean and had air conditioning going the whole ride. The view once you got to the top was stunning, you could see in every direction, you can also see some of the big landmarks such as Big Ben and west monster Abby. The ride was about 35 minutes but feels so much faster when your in it. They also take a group picture before you get on the tram with a green screen, and then towards the end of the ride another picture inside the tram. The pictures came out great but we didn't want to spend the 20£ for it. If your visiting I would recommend coming here to take some great pictures and and even better view of the city.

Omar Z.

Yelp
Honestly I went to London twice in one month and that is the only reason I rode this thing. It's cool to look at at night from below and probably nicer to view the city skyline by day. The first attempt at this had me purchasing a ticket and getting ushered into a long as hell line. It was actually a very very very long line but then again most of the locals were on holiday so maybe it was just not the best time to go. It was cold as it usually is around late October and while I waited for an hour an half we didn't even move an inch. I decided to claim a medical emergency, yeah I was cold as hell, and got me a refund after waiting in another line for twenty minutes. By the way they don't offer refunds. So I failed to get on. The second time I was in London over thanksgiving break it was again very cold at at night, but we literally got on in 10 minutes after purchasing tickets. Somehow I just couldn't figure out the pattern. Anyhow this wheel is really slow moving so expect about 20-30 minutes to go around. They can cram about 12 people in each pod and since everyone is there to get the best selfie it becomes difficult to get a good shot without some random stranger photo bombing. Towards the beginning of the ride before you get on yo u can take picture with a green screen behind you. Fake as heck man and super expensive at the end. Towards the end of the ride there is also a camera that you can stand in the area designated for photos to get a picture of your group. All in all I guess if you want to get on the fourth tallest Ferris wheel in the world it's fine, but will cost you a ton of sterling. Skip the lines and wait times and just enjoy the scenes and the people watching during the daytimes.

Tyler L.

Yelp
There is not much more to say about this attraction that has not already been said. This massive 443 foot tall ferris wheel is the most visited attraction in London. Though it is a ferris wheel, its height and strategically placed location on the river also makes it the perfect observation deck for the city. Tickets are not cheap though at 32.50 pounds for a standard ticket. That is close to the going rate for all the observation decks in NYC, so it is not really overpriced.

Joanna M.

Yelp
The experience to the London Eye was very nice. The line to get on the Eye took about 30 minutes and was well organized despite the number of people. The whole experience while on the Eye Took about 30 minutes altogether. They put about 20 people in each pod, which I thought was a little bit overcrowded for pictures. The view is stunning and you can see major British buildings like the houses of parliament and the shard. it also takes a picture of you on the eye, but it's very overpriced and not worth buying. I was surprised on how high the pods went. It is a well-worth experience to visit!

Sunil R.

Yelp
I have to London many times and had not done the London Eye until now. Aboslutely worth it, panaromic views of the city for 30 minutes. Paying extra to cut the line was very worth it, this is a popular destination and the lines are long.

William H.

Yelp
We tried to do this a few years back and they closed before our 8pm queue time on our tickets. They finally refunded our money after some hassle. It was our last night in London so we couldn't try again. Today, Unfortunately they failed again. Be aware that they will only let you start in the line at your specific queue time and your wait can be more than a hour to actually get on. We were five minutes early and were extremely rudely told to get out of line until our queue time. The employee was yelling at everyone around us also. We did get out of line until 5:15. Once we got in line they let a group of 40 with the same queue time go in front of us. Clearly this place needs new management and leadership. For the price they should figure out a better system. They clearly oversell the time slots. It's just not worth the price, especially since they treat the customers so poorly. Will not ever do this again!!!

Michelle C.

Yelp
Surprisingly unorganized. We visited today, which was the hottest day in British history: 40C/104F. Despite the fact tickets are for specific time slots, people que whenever they choose. As a result, we waited for over 90 minutes in a largely unshaded line. It was worse once you got to the front, because the glass canopy trapped the hot air. We queued at 2:45 for a 3:30 ticket, and as you can see from the screenshot, we boarded over an hour past our ticket time. With finite tickets sold for specific time slots, there was just no reason such a line, especially on a day with such dangerous heat. The experience was not nearly worth the suffering.

Matt S.

Yelp
The London Eye is a cool concept, but is overpriced for what you get. I was in a party of two, and the tickets totaled around £60. We were so packed into our pods that we were stepping on each other's toes with the 25+ other people, meanwhile the pod next to us only had around 8 people inside. The experience was not worth the money or the time. There are many different attractions in London that are a fraction of the price and you get much more for what you paid for.

Brenna B.

Yelp
Didn't get a chance to go inside and catch the views, but gazing at it from the ground was good enough for me. 6th largest Ferris wheel in the world at current. Cool attraction.

Sue S.

Yelp
When we travel, we love going up high to get a birds eye view of the city we are visiting. So whether tower, needle or giant ferris wheel, we are almost always totally down. So of course, on our first visit to London, we had to go up on the London Eye. Even though we've been on the big ferris wheels in Vegas and other cities, the London Eye does stand out as exceptionally big and tall, with the setting right on the Thames River... it's impressive. Like most of the attractions of this sort, it's a high-volume people-moving exercise. You purchase tickets online for a specific time and show up then. There's your normal zig zag queue line to navigate and then you are told which lane to stand in and guided into the car by the staff. I will say it was a bit surprising that you are ushered on and off the car while it is moving. It seems they don't really stop the wheel unless they have to, and most able-bodied people are able to hop on and off while it is still in motion, The platform is very wide and you have a pretty good window of time to hop on and off. But it does seem a bit dangerous to me especially if you have kids, elderly, disabled, etc. in your party. Anyway, once you get on, you are in a very large glass bubble with a group of people. The group size will vary depending on how crowded it is at that specific time but generally I think they try not to overload the cars so everyone has ample room to walk around and enjoy all of the various views. There's a bench in the middle of the car should you wish to take a seat. The views themselves are spectacular and get better and better the further up you go. The down ride is fun too, with some amazing views up and down the river and of some of London's most notable iconic landmarks. Like most such attractions, your entry fee pays for exactly one trip around, which in this case takes a good 30-40 minutes. We took some fabulous pictures and would totally do it again! The only negative thing I have to say is that it is a real bummer it's not operational at night. One of our taxi drivers told us that's because they have to clean it but that makes no sense to me. A nighttime view from that wheel would be tremendous!

Jack H.

Yelp
We finally did the eye the day before we left. We kept seeing it as we walked by or from other locations. The views were nice and the carriage was airconditioned and moved slowly for us to enjoy the view. The view is nice, but I wasn't really impressed. HOWEVER.... The price was reasonable with the package we got with SHREK and The AQUARIUM. It is something I think needs to be done once. They have the process down and it was efficient. We booked a time during a weekday, showed up and while the line seemed long it was quick.

Yelp
Okay drum roll please..........For my 500th review I had to review someplace epic so I chose this fun and touristy spot. For a first timer to London, you definitely want to ride the London Eye. It is a cantilevered observation wheel located on the South Bank of the River Thames in London. It is 443 feet tall and first opened in the year 2000. We purchased our tickets online before we ever left the country for a sunset ride. Glad we did as it saved us a few dollars. Upon arrival, we went to the ticket booth and showed our tickets. From there we were placed in a line. The line moved quickly and before we knew it, we were walking into our little pod with others. The pods hold approximately 25 - 30 people. The wheel moves very slowly as to allow time to capture as many pictures as possible. There is a bench to sit on but we spent our time standing and taking pictures. You can capture so much of London from above and the views are spectacular. We had a very clear evening so our pictures came out nice. We were able to view Big Ben, the parliament buildings, the defense buildings and of course the Shard standing tall in the glimmer of twilight. My family and I really enjoyed this unique and fun experience!

Yelp
Amazing to look at from a distance, but terrifying to think about, especially as someone with a fear of heights. Long lines, as well, which can be a pain especially in cold/rainy weather.

Yelp
This review is long overdue since I visited London sometime ago. If you're looking for touristy things to do, I definitely suggest you try this because it's super fun and beautiful to see all the landscape from above. It was so beautiful. Getting tickets were seamless and the staff was very nice. Hopping on and off was kinda scary but overall it was well worth it. Tip: they take pics of you and you can purchase them at the store after the ride.

Yelp
Scary for me as I fear heights but I braved my fears and it was WORTH IT. It is such a smooth ride and you feel safe, unlike some of these rickety sky rides out there. Come early as there are lines and tight spaces to stand around in. It was a misty and chilly day and it was gorgeous. Thank you London for a great visit and London Eye for a highlight of my visit. Visit was actually Oct 2019.

Yelp
I wasn't smart enough to buy advance tickets online before experiencing the London Eye so I paid the 30 GBP walk up rate. Buy in advance online and save a few bucks. Truth be told, the reason I didn't buy in advance was because I was on the fence about even doing this. My travel partner wanted to experience it and I didn't want to regret NOT doing it later... so....here we are! (+) Fantastic views of London! Especially great views of Parliament and Big Ben (all covered in scaffolding ATM. :/ )and the Thames River, etc. (+) By my count they put between 20-25 people on each pod. This actually wasn't too bad as far as space goes. I was able to take plenty of pics from several different spots. Good sized bench area in the middle of the pod. (-) 30 GBP per person for a 30 minute turn on the wheel is pretty pricey IMO. (-) Lines were ridiculous....and we went on a Thursday afternoon. We had to buy tickets for 3:45pm at 12:30 pm-ish. So we had to wait roughly 3 hours just to ENTER the line that took us roughly 45 minutes to get through. Yikes. Essentially a 4 hour commitment for a 30 minute ride. lol (-) No matter what you pay, no matter what you do, no matter what you say, you are at the mercy of the luck of the draw as far as your cabin mates. lol We had a few annoyingly hyper kids in ours. Good luck. I am glad we experienced it, but the hassle and wait wasn't worth it. Get your tickets in advance and pony up the cash for the skip the line passes. It will be well worth it. If we could have gotten in, rode it, and left in less than 2 hours this would have been an easy 4 star review. 3 stars. A-Ok.

Yelp
The Coca Cola London Eye was definitely on my to do list when I visited London. After our London Eye tour at the Thames river, we proceeded to the London eye. We came around 6pm and I must say this was the perfect time to see London! Everything was so clear and the weather was perfect. The line to get into the tube doesn't take that long. Also, before you get into the tube, they take your picture on the green wall and at the end it'll show the great view of the Thames river and the London eye. The tube is pretty spacious. I would say around 15-20 people can fit. Everyone is able to move around so it doesn't feel cramped inside. Just be aware that the ride goes pretty high, so if you're scared of heights just take that into consideration. Aside from that I highly recommend this ride to see London's city center!

Yelp
London Eye is one of the most iconic places in London. Easy to get to from Waterloo Station. Its always busy so I ugly recommend buying the tickets in advance and get the time slot for your ride. you can also get the Fast Track ticket if the wait is too long and you can skip the line. Great Tourist Place to take pictures from of the Thames and London City. What an amazing experience. The view from the top was astonishing. If you want to see to the whole of London then honestly this is the best way to do it. You can see all of the other famous landmarks that London is known for. Its worth it! PS: Bring a map of the city if you're interested to know what you're looking at from above. There is no commentary or information provided. London has incredible history - would be a good addition to have historical information provided on buildings and growth of the city.

Yelp
11.1o.19 So why does it call the Coca Cola London Eye? I know that's a stupid question but feel free to educate me. :) From far, it looks just like an ordinary ferris wheel. But if you get close, it's a huge ferris wheel. Lol So my friends and I went in the London Eye and I think they about 10 ppl in at once. Our group had 8 bc 2 of left ended up leaving. There was a big bench in the middle of the box be you can sit. As it gets closer to the center top, it's rocks slowly so it kind of makes you a little dizzy. At least for me that is. The view wasn't phenomenal but it was nice. Big Ben looked a bit prettier during night view even though it was dark. We didn't buy the ticket until we for there. My friend just ordered online around 6:40pm for the 6:45pm slot. There's also a 10% discount if you order it online. Maybe it's too cold so there were much people. This is just like a one time thing. If you don't do it, you won't miss much.

Yelp
Overrated and Overpriced, save your money and go to the Tate for a better view. It's always funny looking at Tripadvisor and Yelp discrepancies. No doubt because Yelp is mainly Americans who might not know travel caveats and be able to call BS out. It's about 60 pounds for the full ticket. I personally don't think it's worth that cost. It's like a 30 minute trip to the top and back down and that's about it. You get a decent view of Westminster and the shard. However, you can get an even better view of London for free by going to the top of the Tate Modern and going to their observation deck. Save your money. I'm still salty my ex made me pay for this.

Yelp
The Coca Cola London Eye, what can be said that hasn't already been said? Great views as long as you have a clear day. For a December day, couldn't have asked for a better sunny day as you can see in my pictures. I highly, highly recommend you get your tickets in advanced and pay extra for the Fast Track line, it's worth it. That's what we did. This thing is cool because I thought it stopped to allow everyone on and off and I had originally thought that this is going to take forever, but it didn't because it goes just fast enough, and slow enough for a party to get out and a part to get in...it just works. So while in London, I recommend getting on the Coca Cola London Eye if you want that sky view of London.

Yelp
Tip to save money: purchase online prior to the day you would like to go to the London Eye. I purchased on Thursday for a Monday session. You also have the option to buy the cheapest ticket, which puts you at risk to wait a long line. If you don't mind paying more, you can add on a fast pass. If you're alright with spending more money, you can add on a fast pass AND the ability to get on the London Eye whenever you wish, instead of having an appointment, which is a good option for people who don't want to have a hard commitment to a time to arrive. I opted for the fast pass at 17:00, for which I paid £37.00. After having afternoon tea at the English Tea Room at Brown's Hotel, I decided to walk over to the London Eye. It's a 30 minute walk, and I felt I could use the exercise to burn off all the calories I consumed during tea (I am also a Fitbit fanatic). Crossed the Golden Jubilee Bridge, which gives you a great view of the London Eye and Big Ben overlooking the Thames River. It is a very crowded touristy area, comparable to Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco, especially since they both have a Dungeon. I came on a bank holiday, so the place was teeming with tourists and everyone and their mother wanting to do the touristy stuff. If you want to use wifi here, you'll need to connect with a UK phone number, which I did not have on me, so I needed to use cellular data. Even with cellular data, I had the most difficult time pulling up my QR code for the London Eye, which was horrible. Thankfully, they were very flexible with time, so even though I bought a fast track pass for 17:00, thankfully, there was no line to worry about. After much failure for my phone to connect, even with cellular data, I went to the ticketing booth inside the white building by the London Eye, where they needed my credit card and passport to verify my identity and purchase. Once I finally got my ticket, thankfully, I just hopped into a cabin and enjoyed the ride. It was a clear beautiful sunny day, and the views were glorious. It is Europe's tallest Ferris wheel, and ranks 4th as the tallest in the world (Las Vegas' High Roller, Singapore's Flyer, and China's Star of Nanchang, in that order from tallest to shortest, ranks higher than London Eye). I love going on Ferris wheels in places I visit because it gives you a lovely bird's eye view of the city you're visiting, on top of a fun and relaxing ride (if you're not afraid of heights). I recommend trying this tourist attraction at least once. Now that I have experienced it during the day, I'd love to see what it's like on a clear evening too.

Yelp
We brought the kids up and they loved every moment. I know it costs extra to skip the line but it is worth it as you don't want to spend and waste time standing on line when you have limited time to see the whole city! Below is a carnival area for the younger kids!

Yelp
A fantastic way to see London from above and get some beautiful pictures in the process. The windows are clean and relatively free of glare, so you have ample opportunity to snag the perfect shot. Each bubble holds about 15-20 people, the ride is about 30 minutes. Be very careful when boarding and disembarking, because the ride does not come to a full stop (unless wheelchair-bound passengers are boarding/disembarking). It continues to move slowly, and it is on you to time your departure just right. No pressure. Pre-order your ticket online in advance to avoid the long line.
