I need to review this hotel because I think I left a piece of my soul there. Belmond Las Casitas in Peru’s Colca Valley isn’t just a hotel—it’s a whole experience, a slightly magical, slightly surreal, entirely addictive one. Honestly, I’m not convinced I didn’t dream the whole thing.|Picture this: 59 acres (yes, a small kingdom) of lush gardens, misty mountains, and utter silence except for the occasional alpaca casually living its best life. Instead of regular rooms, you get your own casita—a huge, cosy cottage with a fireplace, a giant bathroom, an outdoor shower, and a heated plunge pool that whispers “cancel all responsibilities.”|The staff here? Angels. Actual angels. They tuck hot water bottles into your bed at turndown and leave Belmond treats like you’re some sort of adored aristocrat. Breakfast? Phenomenal. Evening snacks? Delicious. The full restaurant menu looked fantastic too, but honestly, I was far too busy floating through my private-resort fantasy to choose anything else. There’s also a spa, which I tragically didn’t have time to use because I was too busy being obsessed with the pool area overlooking the valley.|Now for the twist:|We were the only two guests in the entire place. Twenty casitas, 59 acres, countless llamas—and just us. It felt like we accidentally rented the whole resort for ourselves without knowing. Imagine an entire team of lovely humans focused solely on keeping you fed, hydrated, relaxed, and emotionally supported. Chef’s-kiss perfection.|And the setting? You’re tucked into the Colca Valley’s emerald folds, a short wander from ancient cliffside colcas and a quick drive to the canyon where condors drift overhead like they own the sky.|Belmond Las Casitas is part luxury hideaway, part Andean fairytale, part “is this real life?”—and now officially my favourite place I’ve ever stayed.|10/10 would absolutely get “accidentally alone” in a luxury canyon resort again.|Also, if anyone knows how to smuggle a baby alpaca in a suitcase… I’m asking for a friend. 🦙
