Google
It’s a classic diner experience. I remember it fondly from my last trip and it’s still just as good. I had pancakes and sausage this time because it was one of my favorites from before. Unfortunately, I got too excited and ate them before I took a picture. This is a great place to fuel up before exploring a lot of cool neighborhoods. Also, the bathroom here is a real New York kind of place.

Google
Classic diner experience, the food is decent and there is an excellent service.

Jess Nardo

Google
Classic American diner with no frills, efficient service, and solid food. Lots of regulars here which is always a good sign. The number 4 brunch special is our go-to.

Rodolfo Vaz

Google
One of the best options in the region for a good breakfast or brunch. Locals are regular customers here, which is a good sign. The menu is not so cheap, but the food is well served. I loved the gyro, I recommend it. Pancakes with bacon were good as well. Bad point is the charge when you pay by card.

Roberto Uzcategui

Google
The place is really good, the waitress was so kind, efficient and helpful. The food was delicious and the prices are fair for being Manhattan. It’s a convenient location for those staying at the hotel across the street. Thanks for saving our lives during new year’s eve! 100% Recommended.

John Richardson

Google
No frills classic diner experience with good enough food. Service is eclectic and a bit hectic with being shuffled around to squeeze people in but it’s all part of the charm. Pricing is line with what you’d expect for the area

Lauren Wallett Media

Google
I had the pastrami on rye and it was smaller than I expected for the price. I expected a large portion like a traditional diner style. The price also was more than it was listed on the menu so choosing a diner over a pretty restaurant to keep costs down wasn’t the best idea. It was tasty and came with fries but it’s not a place to relax and enjoy the ambience. It’s in an out, very quick and expect to pay more than it says.

Google
I liked the pancakes, eggs and potatoes! The server was really nice too. You’d be hard pressed to find a better value for a sit-down breakfast in the city!

Yelp
Typical old style sloppy diner and we loved it! BEC was awesome and my wife's egg platter on point! This is what NY diners were back in the day !

John J.

Yelp
Met my son for breakfast and he chose Landmark Coffee Shop and Pancake House. Very warm greeting by server. The atmosphere is nice for a diner...rundown, but charming. The 2 egg sandwich with bacon and cheese was delicious. I'll definitely go back! (Totally forgot snap a pic.)

Yelp
I love me an old school greasy spoon diner. Friendly service, tasty basic diner food, reasonable prices. Dropped in for lunch as I was in the area. My meal was served up quick and hot. Nothing super special but solid if you're looking to fill your belly. No frills kind of joint and a bit worn which is fine with me. I'm not that fancy.

Yelp
Landmark Cafe is one of the few remaining film locations from the 80s movie "Desperately Seeking Susan." This cafe is where Roberta played by Rosanna Arquette and Dez (Aidan Quinn) were asked to leave after the waitress mistook Roberta for Susan (Madonna) While the cafe holds significant historical value, it shows signs of age and wear. The cafe could really use some fresh paint, and a little updating. They offer inexpensive breakfast options, and I found the Asian server who assisted me to be exceptionally friendly. It seems she is the sole waitress on duty. The coffee was decent, and the food was typical diner fare. I ordered the Guyere Omelet with toasts, and potatoes. The prices were very reasonable, but do note that they only accept cash payments. Check out my Instagram @travelwithmichael for the video.

Yelp
Hubs and I have been on a quest looking for diners to have breakfast and decided to come here for breakfast. He ordered 2 eggs on a roll with onion. He was hungry and said that it filled him up. It was no big deal, though. I ordered Number 1 from breakfast specials which is two country fresh eggs served with home fries, toast, coffee or tea. I ordered coffee. It was ok. The place was cold and a hole in the wall. Service was quick and friendly. Not sure if I will return, though.

Lennea B.

Yelp
This place was just ok. It served the purpose of having American food with simple choices in soho for a great price. My daughters are picky so chicken fingers and a burger .... The food was just ok. Not a lot of seating but we got one. My daughter asked for the bathroom we were told it was in the basement uhhhh no we will wait. The lady working the floor was on 100 she did everything and moved face I was tired watching her. Bottled drinks .... No alcohol... from the looks of everyone's table they like breakfast here.... I watched her pout their cups of water out of a jug .... Everything was so confusing ..... best thing was the bill.

Nee Y.

Yelp
It's classic coffee shop. It's all type of classic breakfasts. There's only one server and she is so enthusiastic.

Michael S.

Yelp
Landmark Cafe is a throwback to an earlier New York. We stayed across the street for a week, using Landmark as our go-to or quick satisfaction. There's absolutely nothing wrong with a retro dining experience and many things that are right. The absolute best thing is this weakness and attentiveness shown in everybody by the staff! Lots of locals, lots of complicated turns and twists of customizations to order, and nothing but smiles and speed from the other side of the counter. Everything that I had put the spot, and you could tell from the smiles of the workers the landmark cafe repeatedly satisfied and served as a welcoming beacon during a hectic time and in busy days. If you want to sample your parents or grandparents experience of New York City, then this is the place to come for a filling breakfast and lots of smiles.

Lynn C.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I love this spot! Food is simple but great, service is efficient, and retro vibes. Its pretty packed on the weekends, but definitely worth the visit!

Frank M.

Yelp
The Landmark is an icon. Here and there movie scenes were filmed here. It is a well-worn diner establishment that has seen better days. The ambiance and clientele is a mix of tourists and old single men over the age of 50 who dine their regularly. The typical American breakfast fare...eggs, homefries, and toast are done well. Nothing special and also private extravagant. Avoid eating their hamburgers and if you are not someone who eats their regularly...or not an extravagant tipper...or if the waitress doesn't like you. The portions will be extremely small in comparison with the other diners. Don't try their Greek fare either. The waitress has been there for years and is superficially polite and efficient but also looking for $$$. If it wasn't for the 80s movie scenes, I doubt many would be eating here for the food and price. I don't think this place will last much longer..given the rapid disappearance of diners like these in NYC.

Audrey D.

Yelp
Food was nothing amazing, just traditional diner food quality. Not bad but nothing special. I was excited to try because there aren't many old school diners in the area. Unfortunately, I will NOT be returning. The waitress overcharged me like $10 on the bill. Felt malicious. Just lost what could have been a repeat customer. Beware-- make sure to check the receipt before accepting the charge. Apparently its been done here a few times before

Elizabeth X.

Yelp
Underrated spot! Busy, efficient energy. Server who runs the place is magic and warm. Food came out quick. Cash only. Come early morning for some breakfast specials - we'll be back!!

Dale K.

Yelp
Anyone who complains about the rude waitress is obviously a tourist better off at a Bubba Gump Shrimp Factory. She's the real deal working her ass off and doesn't have time for your bullshit. I love this place.

Mandy S.

Yelp
Throw back, no frills diner. Basic breakfast meals that's affordable. One cook and one server..... a lot of places and learn from them.... They're so efficient.

Michael C.

Yelp
Yeah, hours say 6 AM it's now 641 and they're still closed. I would've loved to left a quality review but when they're ours say they're open at 6 AM an hour later, they're not I don't know what to say.

Stephanie W.

Yelp
No frills diner type of spot near soho and Chinatown. They have indoor and outdoor dining. Prices are pretty good here for some American food. I got the grilled cheese with bacon and tomatoes and my bf got the corned beef hash with two eggs. We also shared an order of mozzarella sticks. The coffee was pretty watered down and didn't have much coffee taste. There's only one waitress and she pretty much does everything. The grilled cheese was good, just your usual basic grilled cheese. The mozzarella sticks were goood. Had a nice cheese pull and a nice crust. Overall good spot if you want casual American food

James C.

Yelp
Best diner ever--best prices, best service, best way to spend a morning. My favorite breakfast spot

Hari K.

Yelp
Now Landmark sticks out as a relic of an older SoHo, providing an authentic diner experience in the midst of a sea of Avocado Toasts & French Press Coffees. Admittedly, the service was a bit slower and less kind here, but it was a Sunday morning and they were understandably busy. I ordered a coffee but got a tea instead, which was a bit lame. They also randomly added pancakes to our order, which was confusing but we still ate happily. The breakfast plates are $6-8 which is ridiculously reasonable for the location & amount of food. With eggs, hash browns, and toast (plus the pancakes and tea on the side), I was more than full. The quality of the food was average (felt as good if not a bit worse than what I could make at home), but having them all at your service for a really cheap price makes it taste just a bit better. Glad I at least got to come here once!

Peter L.

Yelp
It is an OK breakfast place. Morning is busy. The food is OK. The staff is very helpful on serving food. They are friendly and so nice.

Yelp
The Egyptian lady very rude nasty she should not work here she very rude on the phone Ella a lot Dam money pay like if she the owner of the place she unprofessional she should not work here even if she the owners cause her unprofessional behavior yells when answer the phone dams credit card the food is good because of the chief he more nice professional then this women so rude unprofessional

Davina G.

Yelp
Good solid breakfast, really sweet server who was a doll. Really nice neighborhood diner with lots of options and great coffee.

Christina K.

Yelp
Just got into the city after a long redeye flight and looking for something to quiet the hunger beast in my belly. As this was right across the street from our hotel, we decided to check it out. Super quick seating and service, super-friendly staff, everyone's food was yummers and hit the spot without being too wieldy or too meager. The scrambled eggs I ordered literally gave me a myriad of childhood memories, as my tutu used to cook eggs exactly the same way. The coffee put hair on everyone's chest (omg) and they also had bottles and cans of soda and juice if you aren't looking for extra hair. Bathroom is downstairs and looks a little sus, but follow the directions and you will be just fine (I promise). Prices were incredibly reasonable and I even got to see a Scottish tourist stand up in confusion over the table and seating arrangements. What a great morning ..... hello NY!

Jay H.

Yelp
Downtown staple diner. A NYC original - made with love. Best flapjacks in town. Mashallah

G A.

Yelp
We were staying in town for a few days at a nearby hotel, and ran into this coffee shop. The server/owner(?) was great. She was always on the go with high energy, but made sure each table was taken care of. She was probably the best part to be honest! The food was very good, & tastes homemade - it was very comforting.

Sofia B.

Yelp
The story goes that I skipped breakfast, missed my stop, and ended up less than 4 minutes away from this small diner. Originally planning on eating at a swanky, slightly overpriced restaurant, I was unsure of the Landmark Coffee Shop. THEN, I was greeted by the warmest smile in Lower Manhattan. The staff is incredibly inviting! I ordered the French toast with bacon and sausage. It came with a healthy side of butter and a good seat for people watching. The Landmark Coffee Shop is a traditional diner that serves quick and delicious meals.

Teresa L.

Yelp
This diner type place is a gem in the neighborhood where there have been so many trendy restaurants opened in the last couple of years. Loved the causal vibe of this local eatery. Shop is only open from 6am to 6pm. We just missed the breakfast specials which ends at 11am. It has the typical menu found in most diners where you can get omelettes, pancakes, eggs and sausages, waffles along with burgers, sandwiches, salads, etc. We got Western omelette and eggs with ham on a roll which were pretty good. Service was quick. Place filled up as we were getting ready to leave.

Nathan K.

Yelp
Exactly what you would expect from an affordable and conveniently located diner. Consistent, delicious and quick.

Daniel Blair K.

Yelp
Excellent and affordable food, friendly server, great breakfast! No frills, but an excellent experience!

Angela V.

Yelp
This was a wonderful find, as we walked around Chinatown in New York City. Karen, our waitress, was awesome!

Hazel E.

Yelp
It's exactly what it looks like, only better. Try their fresh carrot juice. Everytime I order something a little customized here, they always listen to me and it's exactly what I wanted. The main waitress I guess functions as a hostess- shes always calling everyone "My friend." I'd almost venture that she low key means that. The bathroom is WILD.

Edward C.

Yelp
I was Chinatown with family to do some pre-Chinese New Year's shopping and for a quick lunch bite we stopped by Landmark. I ordered a triple-decker sandwich of corn beef with American cheese and mustard on white bread which was also served with French fries. The sandwich was okay, as the corn beef had some nice briny flavor that was enhanced with the tangy mustard. American cheese was okay too, with a pleasant slightly melted texture. I enjoyed the French fries as they were rather thick, slightly crisp, and not greasy. Tossing on a dash of salt in conjunction with ketchup really amped up the taste. My sister had a grilled Cheddar cheese sandwich with bacon and tomato on rye bread which was a solid version of this diner classic. The bacon was crisp, the cheese was grilled to a nice melting point, and the bread buttery and crisp. As with my platter, the fries were very good. Solid, no fuss diner fare, with good service is what you expect at Landmark which summarizes my lunch experience.

Tina C.

Yelp
Breakfast in the peripheral limits of Chinatown summon eggs, toast with butter, tea at a table. I desired an all inclusive meal which Landmark offers breakfast specials until 11 am. The female Chinese server was abrasive, callous, curt, stolid, pushy, insolent, and aggressive attitude to sell more food than I requested: "You want orange juice, it is $3? Very fresh, you want?" The menu stated "coffee or tea" in the breakfast specials but does not specify what genre of tea is available or offered so I asked and received a very broad, vague stolid response: "only Tetley tea is included." What kind of tea is Tetley? English breakfast, Earl Grey, green tea, chamomile, peppermint herb, etc.? "TETLEY TEA ONLY!! We do have those teas as we have everything!" Bellicose female server with extreme antagonistic approach towards me. Fine, I'll take the Tetley tea. No. 1 $5.95 Two country fresh eggs served your favorite way with home fries, toast and Tetley black tea With this aggressive, harsh, callous attitude the previous reviews are on point about the poor food quality and excessive poor customer service of horrible communication skills. The eggs lack fluffiness in my choice of scrambled, the toast were the end pieces in the bread loaf bag with very minimal butter spread. The toast were very burnt as the cook was not paying attention to the toaster which the bread shrank and no consideration that no one desires the end pieces in the bread loaf bag. The home fries were average and the black tea was meh. Price is the only good thing about Landmark as this diner is surely NO landmark endorsed. I was never offered water as a basic amenity. Servers are women who do not emit any warm welcoming sotto voce for a subtle segue entering morning to start the day. Rushed and haphazard to serve customers without the genuine warmth of attentive service and sincere interest. GIGO

Eddie G.

Yelp
Not a fancy ornate place like most Soho, Noho establishments. Doesn't really look like much, inside or out. The places too eat are like that. They just do the job well. I've been pining for some good, fluffy pancakes, and I got 'em! Wonderful service, so friendly and attentive. Makes me want to live around here.

Kelvin S.

Yelp
Service was mid tear, treated like family, but not everybody would like to be treated with so much familiarity. Food was cheap, got a lot of food for the price and was happy with the overall taste, considering the price. Would recommend again

Koki R.

Yelp
Ohhh baby, come here and get treated as if you just landed to NYC. worst service ever on Sundays and the food is just whatever AVOID THE OLD LADY ON SUNDAYS

Sean A.

Yelp
Very solid and very reasonably priced. Friendly staff. The breakfast sandwich was good and the coffee was good. Extremely fast.

Benson Y.

Yelp
Man, I love greasy spoon diners. Whenever I've run into one, I make it a point to eat there. It's not just about the food, it's about stepping into a time machine of sorts. Walking into Landmark, the old tables, ancient looking menu mounted over the counter, the cash registers and the counter (that you can sit at!!!) all harken back to another time. This place isn't fancy and its ambience is so down to Earth I felt immediately comfortable, as if I've gone for years. We're talking no frills here folks. To punctuate the point, the bathroom is downstairs, and while you have to pass through a fairly scary staircase to get to it, the bathroom itself is kept nice and clean. I came in and sat at the bar, something else I make a point to do at a diner if possible. There's just something about being in the hub of all that activity that appeals to me. I sat closest to the gent who was cooking on the grill, and man, the speed this guy moved at was insane. Pancakes, sandwiches, omelettes etc. were all produced in front of me at blazing speed. My order was taken by a friendly waitress within minutes of my arrival, and less than ten minutes later my food was in front of me. I ordered a nice, basic breakfast: two eggs, sunny side up on ham with hash browns and whole wheat toast. I threw in a coffee for good measure and I was off to enjoying a deeeelish breakfast! The eggs were cooked perfectly, with the whites done but the center warm and runny (this goes on toast better than anything). The hash browns had peppers, onions and paprika and tasted really good, but they didn't have a crisp exterior as some places make it. The coffee was a bit weak in my opinion, but I tend to drink stronger flavors so that may just be me. The only oddity is I did note that there were no sugar substitutes anywhere. I looked for Sweet n' Low and Splenda around the various tables and saw none, so I just decided to take the coffee with milk. What's insane is how cheap the meal is. Even though I had missed the breakfast specials time frame, my meal was only about $9 altogether! A good old fashioned atmosphere, fast service and good food. Nothing fancy, but definitely awesome.

Yelp
I ordered the chicken cobb salad for $14.95. the portion is small! i ordered a side of fries so i could feel sated. the waitress eventually brought my check and I could see that the grand total was $16.95. however, she grabbed my credit card and processed it for $21.84. The chit showed that my meal was supposed to be $21. and the tax was .84 cents. I asked to see the itemized check and she refused. but i could see it in her hand and it read the grand total of $16.95. but i was running late to get back to the office so I figured i would look into this later. once i had time, i looked at the Google reviews. this waitress is known to jack up the price of the check...possibly adding her own tip without telling the customer so that the customer tips on top of the tip she added without the customer's consent. this also results in adding tax to the tip. when i called to speak to a manager, guess who answered? the waitress. I recognized her voice. she wouldn't let me speak to the manager. it's crazy. but she is flat-out ripping people off. there are reviews written about her but management won't do anything about it. so avoid this place. it's a greasy dive but it's appeal is starting to become questionable and the place is simply disgusting. and if you go, pay attention to what you order and the price because the waitress with the dark hair and the bright red lipstick will probably rip you off too.

Wailana W.

Yelp
I love this place. It is a throwback to when there were luncheonettes for breakfast, not brunch places. The food is fresh, basic and fairly priced. Where else can you get a delicious pastrami and egg sandwich for $4.95?! You can get anything that's on the menu for breakfast and vice versa. I once got fish snd chips for for breakfast and it was pretty decent.

Suresh D.

Yelp
This looks like a nice neighborhood spot. A few seats at the counter and a few tables. They have Italian and Italian-American menu items. I wanted a chicken parmigiana sandwich but they were out of sub rolls. I was told they could put it on pita but that is not right. I ordered a grilled Chicken Caesar salad. While waiting for my food I had an interesting discussion with an older guy who recognized me as being from NYC from my accent We were discussing how the area is now vs how it was in the 80's and earlier which just reminded of the event I just left trying to get people to return to Chinatown to live, work and raise families. When my food was ready the kind lady at the counter let me know. I asked how much and was told $9. Not bad for Manhattan. I initially thought there were no croutons but they all seemed to be under the romaine dressed already with Caesar dressing. The amount of dressing seemed a bit much and I don't recall seeing cheese in my salad as per menu description but I might be mistaken. The chicken was boneless and skinless breast cooked on the flattop. It was moist and tender.

Tina N.

Yelp
It's a very simple diner, your friendly neighborhood quick stop. Not many options to order from as compared to your normal diner but it's still good. As soon as I came in for lunch with a colleague, we were welcomed right away and we were told to sit wherever we wanted. My colleague and I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with avocados and fries. It's literary two toast with lettuce, tomatoes, bacon, grilled chicken, and an avocado. It's simple, light, and quick. It's a taste of home to me since I'm from the Bronx. I work in Chinatown and the options are usually a variety of Asian food but all I really want is a simple sandwich and fries. This is the place is two minutes from Canal: you come in, relax, and see a diverse community.

Freedom J.

Yelp
Want garbage? Want hair with that too? I called and ordered ahead for lunch today just before 12:30pm but got there before they made my California wrap. I requested to have my wrap with mayo instead of honey mustard and took it back to the office. Took 3 bites of the wrap and found a piece of packaging from their turkey and then, a piece of hair. ENOUGH SAID, RIGHT?!

Dick M.

Yelp
Solid diner food with great diner service. Sit at a table or at the counter and enjoy breakfast all day, or a burger, or some chicken. Not many gems like this left in SoHo, so make the best of it. Don't come here for osso bucco, come for the BLT. Be nice to the ladies and they treat you like gold. Smile. You're in New York and this is the NYC you know you were looking for. PS: There is no kale on the menu, and I didn't notice a diet plate either.

Kate S.

Yelp
In short, today I was charged $6.95 per meal (13.90) plus $1.50 per coffee ($3), then the meal ended up costing $18.40 in total. YET, because I arrived before 11am, it should have been $5.95 per meal with coffee being included ($0), thus $11.90, round it up to $13 when you factor in tax. Being that I was overcharged $6.40 for the mediocore breakfast and very slow service, and I brought this to the attention of the waitress - who just stared blankly at me - I did not feel bad whatsoever walking away without leaving a tip. This is the 2nd time that I have come here in the past year and this is the 2nd time I have been disappointed and have left upset. The 1st time I didn't have a good experience but I didn't want to leave a bad review for this place because I thought it was a cute little business in the area. However, I decided to give it a second chance today and for the 2nd time I was not happy. The 1st time I had an issue with the bill because I had ordered the pancake number 2 special which is supposed to come with coffee in addition to free refills. But when I got my bill I saw that I had been charged for blueberry pancakes, which are more expensive, and had been charged for 3 individual coffees. The waitress didn't want to correct the issue and I left angrily. This morning I got there before 11:00 a.m. and I was standing at the front waiting to be seated as a table finally became available. The pancakes I ordered were not good quality and the 2 on the bottom were actually a bit burnt. My partner had ordered his breakfast and even though he asked for whole wheat toast and the waitress repeated it he still got white toast. Then when we got the bill I noticed there was an issue again which I brought up to the waitress. I told her that we were charged for our coffees when they were supposed to come included with our breakfast. She said that we came in after 11 and that the coffees were not free even though I told her I would have ordered right away standing up by the front door had I known that she was going to charge extra. I even told her that when I asked for the breakfast special and pointed to the number 2 and the number 1 she claims that she said it was past 11 and I corrected her and told her that she never said anything of the sort. So considering that both times I have been here my order has been wrong or there has been a problem with over billing by 2 different waitresses have never tried to be helpful, I will never be returning here because the food is low quality even though it is cheap and you always have to look out for them over charging you on the bill.

Sarah P.

Yelp
Ewww! Ordered Mexi omelet that was supposed to have cheddar cheese in it. They used American cheese slices. There was water in the Tapatio to thin it out & save a few pennies. The toast was stale and the avo in my omelet was super old and brown. The hash browns tasted like freezer burn. The rye bread was more like wonder bread. The fresh squeezed oj was watered down. With all of the awesome food in NYC I can't believe that people eat here or that it is still in business.

Gina C.

Yelp
Honestly people like to think that they're above this place but where else are you going to find a fresh, warm, sit-down breakfast in the city for $6-8? The ladies that work here are very no frills and can seem rushed, but given the prices here, I can understand why they want to keep the business going at a fast pace. Breakfast ends at 11am, but even afterwards the prices aren't too bad. I like this place because it stays true to what it is and you know exactly what to expect when you enter.

Yelp
The food looked good on other people's plates. But presentation BABYYYYY it was not good. The signing had an old diner look to it. There was two items that said out of order. They didn't offer hand sanitizer. I could bring myself to buy anything from there. The store had a fridge in the back that was very visible from the sitting area which made things seems more unsanitary. This place needs an upgrade ASAP.

Yelp
This diner gives you exactly what you want and nothing more: great straightforward meals at decent prices, refills on coffee, chairs upholstered in plastic, and pictures of the food on the menu. Don't bother venturing too far beyond your two egg breakfast, pancakes, or BLT... you're here for the classics. Even though it's pretty dead during the week, you can expect to wait a bit for a chair on weekend mornings as it's one of the only diners like this in the area. Luckily the lady running the show is always on top of her shizz and will get people in and out with a quickness. Long live the greasy spoon!

Yelp
DO NOT GO HERE! The hostess/waitress is EXTREMELY RUDE! While I was there, I noticed that not one party received their order correctly, including me. And when I told her that my order was wrong she completely dismissed it. One couple, who sat down before me, still had not even received their food by the time I was walking out. It wasn't even like the place was busy. 30+ minutes for some eggs, toast and hashbrowns? Get out of here. Not to mention, the food was completely tasteless. Plenty of other diners within walking distance that even if the food isn't a whole lot better, at least the service is a lot more comfortable. Place doesnt even deserve 1 star.
