Lake Naivasha

Great place to see hippos and have a boat ride on the lake. It was one of our 7-day Safari destinations and we truly enjoyed it, the main reason to go there is an opportunity to have a walking tour on Crescent Island sanctuary, the only place, where you can walk with all the animals: giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, impalas and whaterbucks. Amazing feeling to see these animals so close.

Lake Naivasha is an absolute gem and a must-visit destination for anyone who loves nature, wildlife, and breathtaking scenery. My time there was nothing short of magical, and it’s an experience I’ll treasure forever. The lake itself is stunning—its tranquil waters reflect the surrounding greenery, creating a picture-perfect landscape. Whether you’re gazing at the shimmering surface in the morning light or watching a fiery sunset paint the sky in the evening, the views are simply unforgettable. The air is fresh and crisp, and there’s an overwhelming sense of peace that makes you feel instantly connected to nature. What truly sets Lake Naivasha apart is the incredible diversity of wildlife. During my visit, I was fortunate to see hippos lounging in the water, their eyes and ears peeking above the surface as they moved gracefully in their natural habitat. The birdlife was equally spectacular, with vibrant kingfishers, majestic fish eagles, and elegant herons gracing the shores and skies. For bird lovers, this lake is paradise! The activities around the lake are equally wonderful. I enjoyed a serene boat ride that allowed me to experience the lake up close. Gliding across the water, surrounded by stunning views and accompanied by the sounds of nature, was truly special. The guides were incredibly knowledgeable, sharing fascinating insights about the lake’s ecosystem and the wildlife we encountered. The area around Lake Naivasha is also rich in attractions. Whether it’s exploring Crescent Island, taking nature walks, or visiting nearby conservancies, there’s no shortage of ways to immerse yourself in the beauty of this region. Each activity feels unique, offering a fresh perspective on the lake and its surroundings. Another highlight of my visit was the warm hospitality of the people. From the friendly locals to the attentive guides and staff, everyone I met was welcoming and genuinely passionate about sharing the magic of Lake Naivasha. Their pride in the lake and its natural wonders is evident, and it adds a personal touch to the experience that makes it even more memorable. Lake Naivasha is more than just a beautiful destination—it’s a sanctuary of tranquility and a haven for wildlife. Took a boat ride and enjoyed watching the hippos and various types of birds here

My experience on the Lake Naivasha boat ride was nothing short of incredible! The moment we set out on the water, I was captivated by the calmness of the lake and the stunning surroundings. The peaceful ambiance was a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. As we gently glided across the waters, we were treated to breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes, including the iconic silhouette of Mount Longonot in the distance. The highlight of the ride was undoubtedly the wildlife. We got up close with several groups of hippos, watching them surface and submerge in their natural habitat. The birdlife was just as impressive – we spotted everything from majestic African fish eagles with their distinctive calls to vibrant kingfishers and cormorants perched along the shoreline. Our guide was not only knowledgeable but also passionate about the area, sharing interesting facts and stories about the lake’s history, ecosystem, and the local communities that rely on it. One of the most magical moments was when the sun began to dip lower in the sky, casting a golden glow over the lake. It was the perfect setting for some great photos and peaceful reflection. The entire experience was so well-organized, with safety being a top priority, and the boat was comfortable and well-maintained. Whether you're a nature enthusiast, birdwatcher, or simply looking to unwind in one of Kenya's most scenic locations, the Lake Naivasha boat ride is an absolute must. It’s an experience that leaves you with a deep appreciation for the beauty of the Rift Valley and the incredible biodiversity it supports. I can’t recommend it highly enough – this is a tour that will stay with you long after it’s over!

Its among the few lakes in Kenya where you can boat ride and visit part of the lake. You will be able to admire hippos, pelicans, different species of birds like kingfisher eagle, etc. And if you are lucky/unlucky enough, you may see a big snake near the swallow water near the 'islands'. I would recommend you go with a local guide/tour operator whereby the boat ride will be much cheaper than being there by yourself. "Active Motion Kenya" can be a good option as it offers a bird watching package including Lake Naivasha and others. There is also a restaurant there, offering different variety of food on the menu as well as having a buffet. A bit expensive but quality of food is very good.

It is a very beautiful place, you can spot hippopotamus, a variety of birds and amazing lake, boating is also available, perfect place to go on vacation

Awesome place. Took a boat safari in the lake. Saw many hippos, great and long-tailed cormorants, fish eagles, pelicans, and African jacana. On shore you can see many zebras, De Fasa waterbucks, and maybe even giraffes. Be prepared with a jacket and a hat if it rains
