La Esquina serves up delicious tacos and guacamole with a lively vibe, perfect for a quick bite before a show in a cozy, upbeat atmosphere.
"Both the Soho and UES locations of this Mexican spot are doing delivery and takeout right now, so the next time you’re in the mood for tacos, tortas, or quesadillas you can order some using their website." - hannah albertine, nikko duren, bryan kim, arden shore, matt tervooren
"One more very quick counter-service idea when you’re strapped for time. La Esquina is especially convenient if your show is a little further up in the 50s (like at New York City Center, Gershwin Theater, Neil Simon Theater, etc.). Come by yourself or with a friend and see how quickly you can eat two carnitas tacos and an order of rice and black beans. They don’t have any alcohol here, so you should just splurge on the broadway tumbler of red wine at the show." - hannah albertine
"If you’re seeing a show in the West 50s (or you’re just going to your office there every day), La Esquina is a good quick option to know about for a quesadilla and some rice and beans at lunch or late-night carnitas tacos. You order all of your food at a counter here, and there’s a decent amount of seating. Just know that there’s no alcohol." - Hannah Albertine
"La Esquina Taqueria is, at this point, a mini chain in NYC. The tacos can be a little inconsistent, but they’re generally pretty solid, and the guacamole is made to order (at whatever spice level you want). This place is counter-service, however, so, unlike the main La Esquina downtown, it isn’t going to be somewhere you bring a date. There is, however, a little sitting area, and you can always just grab a few takeout tacos on your way home." - Andrew Steinthal
