"A living memorial to Paris' Art Deco legacy, La Coupole has seen more than its fair share of Parisian who's who. Patti Smith played guitar on the terrace. Henry Miller came for breakfast. Jane Birkin used to lunch here, as did Marc Chagall, Henri Matisse and James Joyce. The menu includes typical French brasserie food, with a particularly strong seafood emphasis. Order a side of buttery whelks or winkles with one of the seafood platters, which are as delicious as they are photogenic." - Lindsey Tramuta, Sara Lieberman

A charming, well-established spot popular with visitors. Our waitress kindly recommended the curry, which turned out milder than expected (less adventurous palates might enjoy it!). The steak was a classic, well-prepared dish, while the famous crepes truly delighted. Despite some language gaps, the team’s attentiveness shone through.

It was such a great experience! Everything in the restaurant was delicious and tasty. The desserts were the best part of the evening. I made a reservation beforehand as it was quite busy inside, but there were also tables outside. The service was really good and I will definitely go again. Thank you!

One of the most beautiful hotels we’ve stayed in. Great view, awesome interiors, and spacious room! Great service and friendly staff, especially Trang! Will definitely stay here again when we come back!

Very disappointed by the food. We had a plateau de fruit de mer, the crab was extremely small, and langoustine and lobster had no taste. As for the food, the only nice thing was the foie gras. Thé oignon soup, meat, tartare; liver, escargots… were mediocre The crème Suzette were uneatable. We complain to the waiter who denied and said it was normal. We actually came here 4 days earlier and there were actually nice ( reason why we came back). Basically, disappointed by food and experience. Overall I don’t recommend anymore. I feel like there are so much more bistrot in Paris with better food.

An obvious historic landmark in the MONTPARNASSE area and it was a pleasure to meet our friends there who happened to be in Paris at the same time as we were. From entering the doors the history was evident and the ambience led us to believe the cuisine would match. Our server was spectacular throughout the whole meal and endured my pathetic ancient high school French. When we received our meals I was less than pleased. The "roasted" duck breast was a not crusted at all, but a bit overcooked and less than the gamey flavour I was hoping for from previous experiences. The polenta with parmesan appeared in a small tart form and the browned top was neither braised or browned in the kitchen salamander. It was bland to say the least. Everyone else said they enjoyed their meals. The dessert was even less impressive for more than just myself. My CREME BRULEE was just mushy custard with no advertised bourbon taste and the supposed torched caramel sugar had no crack to it and the spoon sank right through it. A crepes suzette flambé was not fired at the table in the usual ceremony nor anywhere else that I could see. The PROFITEROLES was certainly a generous and chocolate covered portion. Sadly, I think LA COUPOLE is resting on its historic reputation but the cuisine leaves something to be desired for the prices being charged. C'est la vie...mais quel dommage !!!!

Everything was just amazing. Our waiter was very friendly and the atmosphere there was very luxurious, but cozy and warm at the same time. The food we had was very quickly made and just delicious. My crème brûlée was simply out of this world. Yes, the prices are not low, but if you want to spend nice time in some nice place (with lot of history), you just need to come here.

Great food and a pleasant ambiance, but table service left room for improvement. Also, this legendary restaurant seems to have lost a part of it’s former charm. La Coupole is a classic restaurant, established in 1927, and we have fond memories of several visits back in 2012. However, it feels like the place has lost some of its classical identity. The iconic “Coupole” dome ceiling is now just plain white, the famous lamb curry is no longer served tableside from a cart by a traditional looking server - just to name a few. We also noticed frequent birthday celebrations, which involve a somewhat generic routine: a fake cake with oversized candles and staff singing, which felt more like a chain restaurant experience than the unique tradition we remembered. Also, we found the payment QR code off-putting for a restaurant that used to be a (classic) pilgrimage (we had to ask for a receipt and to pay cash). Table service was rushed and clumsy (e.g. frequent wine spillage on the table cloth), but perhaps the waiter had an off day as he’d been working there for over 2 decades (which is a positive sign). While La Coupole remains an ok spot to visit, it no longer feels like the special destination it once was for us and has become more mainstream. Next time we’re in town, we’ll probably look elsewhere.

Champagne is good, French onion soup is superb, duck breast is great and the brûlée is perfect closing all taken in a great ambience with decent service

Yelp
Visited 05/11/2025 Initially, we'd made plans for Le Train Bleu, but apparently there was a strike and LTB was closed until the end of the month. Our hotel concierge recommended La Couple (The Dome) and while not the ambiance of LTB, we did have an enjoyable meal and evening. I thought the Art Deco decor was very cool. Between the 6 of us, I believe 4 had the roasted sea bass fillet (with champagne sauce, creamy risotto, parmesan) which everyone seemed to enjoy. My BIL had the Strasbourgeois sauerkraut, (pork loin, smoked pork belly, white sausage, cumin sausage, knackwurst.) This is a BIG plate of food, which was pretty much gone at the end of the evening. I had the grilled skate. I'd never had this fish before but always wanted to try. They did a masterful job. I will be getting 'skate' again if I see it elsewhere on another menu. Service was prompt and attentive...

Yelp
A legendary brasserie in Paris first opened in 1927.. The room adorned with Art Deco decor. 33 columns decorated by 27 artists in 1927. At the center of the dining room stands "La Terre", a bronze sculpture by Louis Derbré, installed in 1993. The menu features traditional French cuisine with an emphasis on seafood. We started with the... Escargot. Buttery and mildly garlicky with a tender yet slightly chewy bite. A classic French dish. 1/2 crab & oysters. Super fresh and the crab had tons of yummy eggs. For main course we had the... GRENOBLE-STYLE SKATE WING capers butter, finely mashed potatoes with butter. Skate is a type of ray fish. The meat is usually taken from the "wings", which have a shredded, stringy texture that becomes silky and tender when cooked properly. .Delicate with a mild sweet flavor and slightly briny taste. Perfect with capers and butter. NORMANDY BEEF TARTARE homemade French fries. Top quality filet mignon. The Normandy preparation was slightly on the sweet side and didn't have the mustard, capers, onions, Worcestershire sauce, that is typical with beef tartare. Excellent service especially considering that the place was packed. It's refreshing to see that when you order a bottle of wine, the server actually comes back to pour more wine. Happy Eating!!

Yelp
Deliciously fresh and simple presentation of superb seafood. La Coupole still has the integrity of first rate food after all these years. The dining room has the warm vibe of happy people enjoying the evening. Little fuss, lots of old pros at work.

Yelp
Disguisting stale bread in Paris! You order 22 seconds after you sit. 44 Seconds later your water and low quality jarred artichoke arrives. You get up cancel your food pay what was served and save yourself a vile meal with rude staff.

Yelp
Is it common to encounter racism in Paris? La Coupole is one example. If you are Asian, I strongly recommend avoiding this restaurant due to their discriminatory treatment. I made a reservation for 10:00 PM last Sunday, excited to try French cuisine. We arrived at 9:30 PM but were completely ignored while other guests were seated. I thought it might be because we arrived early, so we waited until 10:00 PM, yet still received no attention. After waiting until 10:20 PM, one of the servers finally approached but prioritized taking orders from two ladies behind us. I stood up to seek help, and she eventually noticed when I went straight to the reception. She seated my husband and me, along with the other two ladies, at a table in the middle, but the servers continued to ignore us while serving the tables beside us. When I inquired about this, they claimed they were too busy. After I complained to the manager, they offered us a table, but who wants to eat there after being treated like that? Why were they too busy for us but not for others? The service we received was unacceptable and felt distinctly discriminatory. It was clear they didn't care about us as Asian customers. If you want to enjoy your time in Paris, I suggest staying away from this restaurant to avoid a negative experience.

Yelp
My birthday dinner was a success, the duck and oysters were definite highlights! Superb attention from staff all evening, and chill ambiance with an atmosphere of the 1920's silent movie era glam!

Kate M.

Yelp
Delightful art deco atmosphere with delicious food and friendly service. We sat outside on a beautiful evening, and enjoyed the French onion soup as a starter. I have never had French onion soup with such flavor in the broth. The salmon steak with saffron butter sauce and peas was a new combination of flavors for me, and one I recommend. The glacé dates to the 1600s so we couldn't possibly say no!

Yelp
Luckily we arrived there before 12pm. Is better if you make a reservation because it's always packed. The food, dessert, and drinks were really good 8.5/10. Favorite plate: French onion soup and fish.

Yelp
A famous seafood French restaurant that is almost 100 years old. They are known for their seafood tower which I think anything raw, this restaurant does well. However, I thought their hot options were kind of weak. Thus, would recommend sticking to ordering their raw options like the seafood towers, tartare, or other things. It's crowded and busy- worth going to but I'm not sure if the food is as worth the hype. I was a little disappointed that when we found a staple in our crab leg the facility kind of waived it off and didn't do much to compensate for the find, but no harm done. We ordered the Royal tower (about 86 pounds). This was worth ordering. Presents well and each sea food was clean, sweet, and fresh. Some of the freshest seafood you can find around. It had sweet oysters, giant prawn, small cockles, clams, crabs, lobsters, and tiny shrimp that no one really knew how to eat but we somehow did. We found a staple in a lobster/crab part. Was not too thrilled that after addressing this with the waiter they kind of just waived it off. this could have been potentially fatal had someone swallowed this. The sea bass tartare was worth getting- a fresh and clean dish. We had some hot dishes too and this is where it kind of fell apart. Whole lobster ravioli- there was like no ravioli. A half lobster tail thrown on top of overcooked flat pasta sheets with maybe a hint of some kind of stuffing. this dish just looked like it was made as an after thought or rather forgotten on the hot top and then it became mushy. Ordered a dish of hot veggies just to get some greens in- it was a forgettable dish. to where I can't find it on the menu and don't remember what it was. The place is very busy- we had to wave down our waiter multiple times. If you left halfway without paying or left when seated but then couldn't get their attending to start with water, they probably wouldn't even realize it. You pay online which no one made clear to us except for the little placards on your table hidden behind your plates saying this so we wasted half an hour waiting to flag waiter down/ask how to pay. Overall, an ok place. Had high hopes but this was considered average to me. Wouldn't make this a top priority to go in the future.

Yelp
Restaurant was beautiful, service was great, food was amazing. I was a little tentative because of some of the negative reviews, but my experience was fantastic.

Yelp
I go to La Coupole for the atmosphere, always busy, the cool Art Deco décor and the fresh sea food. As often in Paris' Brasseries, it can be a little difficult to get a waiter's attention, they are running around taking care of many tables, so you just have to be patient. I am from la Bretagne and picky about seafood (to be honest about anything that goes in my plate), and La Coupole doesn't disappoint. I also like the fact that you can order exactly what you want, you don't have to pick one of their selected seafood platter. Since I was having dinner by myself, a half crab was perfect, a few oysters, bulots, shrimps, everything was extremely fresh and came with delicious bread and a generous amount of good quality salted butter. There is also a bar, but really you want to soak up the atmosphere at a table and take your time!

Yelp
Dinner at the famous La Coupole! La Coupole, founded in 1927, is one of Paris' most famous brasseries known for its artistic history A scene from Emily in Paris was also shot here! I absolutely loved the French onion soup here - probably the best I've ever had! For mains, although they have many meat options, their seafood options are the way to go. The sole fish was sooo smooth and fresh, a must try. The seafood sauerkraut was good as well, I like how they give you a bit of everything and an entire mountain of sauerkraut French Onion Soup (9€) Bone Marrow (13.5€) Escargots (19€) Sole a la Plancha (46€) Seafood Sauerkraut (27.5€) Irish Cut Beef Steak (33€) La Coupole's Sauerkraut (27.5€)

Yelp
We ordered oysters on the shell as an appetizer and cooked dishes for entrees, namely the ravioles à la langouste and the quenelles de brochet. The oysters were excellent. The cooked dishes were ordinary, bland and overcooked. My advice is, if you want to have a good meal at La Coupole: order seafood that requires no or little cooking, hence no special talent from the chef. They do seem to procure excellent shellfish and fish. So go for the oysters on the shell, the sea food plateaux (essentially uncooked) or venture for a cooked crab or lobster as those are very hard to sabotage. But stay away from anything that will require attention from the "chef"... because he can't cook...

Yelp
This was our first dinner in Paris. As our car drove past to drop us I noticed the exterior saying 'Bar American' and said that place looks cool! I soon realized it was La Coupole and was instantly intrigued. The ambiance was perfect, they sat us right away even though we arrived early. The atmosphere was friendly, vibrant and full of life and light which seemed like a perfect welcome to Paris. We ordered drinks and apps. My wife thought the French onion soup a tad disappointing and I had the mussels which were delicious. We had a bottle of wine with our entrees (be aware entrees are apps in France) of chicken and braised duck which were both amazing. The wait staff was attentive and even sang happy birthday to us with vigor despite ours being one of 20 that evening. Pastry desert and coffee topped it off. Price was fair and was a good mix of Parisians and tourists. Definitely worth a visit!

Yelp
We had dinner at the restaurant. The food was ok, wasn't spectacular or anything like that, which was disappointing, I expected more. The service, it's a different thing. The hostesses was rude and dismissive, not properly or professionally dressed. The waiter was very unpleasant, took a while to place an order, then had to wait and wait.... we were not rushing, but it was noticeable. He would always forget what we asked for and walking around with his hands behind his back, it was a bit unusual. My husband ordered Lamb curry, he did like and the waiter at that department was very pleasant. After all, I don't think we are going to be back. There are so many great places to explore, and that is not our favorite.

John C.

Yelp
Shellfish Tower Extraordinaire! La Coupole is one of the three classic Montparnasse brasseries. Beautiful, historic. No Le Select is not a part of this group. We ordered the oyster tasting and the crustacean platter: 12 oysters, pink shrimp, grey shrimp, langoustines, and 1/2 carb and 1/2 lobster. Absolutely awesome!!! Washed it down with a couple of glasses of Sancerre. Friendly, non-hovering service. So good we are going back for dinner on our last night before flying home.

Yelp
My wife and I go at least once per visit and while I have no idea how it compares to all of the other famous and antique grand brasseries, it has always been excellent when we have visited. First things first it's a huge space with historically important and cool decorations which means it's nice to just absorb the surroundings as you eat -- I absolutely love the atmosphere. Second the service will be sparse and aloof though mostly attentive and almost always pleasant enough -- do keep in mind that it's not fine dining so you won't get pampered. I will also say that during one occasion a member of our party felt accosted for asking for a substitution in a dish which was totally that person's fault for asking for the dish to be modified. If you're the kind of person who doesn't take kindly to someone not letting you tell them how to change their food then go elsewhere or stay home and cook for yourself. As to the food: 1. Oysters are always fresh and tasty -- not as vast of a selection as some places nor as personally curated as say L'Avant Comptoir de Mer the Grand Cru platter never disappoints; 2. Onion soup -- always good, always scalding hot; 3. Frisée salad -- chock full of lardons though the egg is more hard boiled than poached so not my favorite; 4. Beef tartare -- excellent and a massive portion, though the fries accompanying it were a bit meh (oddly enough the fries another visit with the moules frites were fantastic); 5. Mussels steamed in Chablis -- always delicious; 6. Monkfish casserole -- very hearty though not a huge portion for the price; 7. Steak frites -- came out very rare (actually pretty bloody) but ok by me; 8. Chestnut veloute -- a bit muted but decent And 9. Floating island -- one of the biggest versions of the dish I've tried and it was great

Yelp
I had higher hopes and maybe that's where I went wrong. First, I will start with the staff. They were very kind, provided good service, and tried to speak English to help us with our order. I'm grateful for that as I never expect others to speak my language. If you want oysters/raw bar type meal, this is your place! I don't like oysters, so I skipped this. I ordered the chicken fricasse and I'll say it was okay. The gravy sauce on it was yummy, and the accompanying carrots were cooked to perfection. My husband ordered the lobster ravioli and said it was one of the best things he has ever eaten. So again, go the seafood route if you're dining here. We also ordered the the avocado-prawn starter and I enjoyed it. It has grapefruit or maybe blood orange slices on it, plus lettuce, prawns, and avocado. The sauce was similar to a "thousand island" sauce (for the Americans reading this) and complimented everything nicely. The decor is Art Deco, which I love! We chose to sit outside and I was immediately kicking myself upon remembering that the interior was Art Deco. A great and lively atmosphere indoors or out.

Yelp
Historic Montparnasse brasserie - Hemingway used to hit up friends for drinks here in the 1920's - and still an elegant restaurant in the 2020's. La Coupole is a large brasserie with a beautiful art deco interior. Ideally you should start with an aperitif at the bar before transferring to a table for dinner. Very relaxing (and very French) approach to dining out. If you order oysters as the appetizer be sure to ask your waiter for suggestions. We had three varieties and agreed that these were the most delicious oysters we've ever had. We stayed with seafood for the main. The coquilles st. jacques dish - brilliant. The scallops were tender, the sauce was something out of Escoffier, the presentation beautiful. I had the lobster ravioli but give this one a pass. You want unctuous at La Coupole and the scallop dish provides this. We also had dessert, ile flottante and profiteroles. It was more dessert than we normally eat but "somehow" we managed to polish off both. One important point: Make a reservation on-line. This is a wildly popular restaurant for Parisians (not Tick-Tockers) so a reservation is essential.

Lynn M.

Yelp
My husband and I so enjoyed our meal last night that we are going back again tonight to celebrate our 25th anniversary. The food and wine were amazing and the staff were awesome- our waiter was THE BEST!

Joy M.

Yelp
Wow, this place was amazing. A 3 minute walk from our apartment. Perfect. Service was top notch but I recommend you make a reservation. It's large but packed by they one we left. Started with a beautiful glass of Sancerre and the oyster tasting platter. 16 yummy oysters. My husband asked for horseradish. They had no idea what he was talking about but a few mins later there was a jar of horseradish at our table! Love that they went out of their way to find it. Then we ordered the poultry fricasee with morels and the lamb curry. The chicken was probably the best meal I've had in Paris. Fall off the bone tender with roasted carrots in an amazing broth. My husband claimed the lamb was just as tender. We will definitely be back. Oh, and the new pay system? Brilliant

Steffy T.

Yelp
This place came highly recommended and it was very disappointing. Our server did not speak English (which is fine), but didn't make any attempts to try to accommodate us to figure out what we wanted to order. Finding another server or having someone help translate what we are asking/saying, would've made the experience better. I had the French onion soup for my starter, which was delicious. For my main course, I had the Lobster Ravioli and it was not good at all. It lacked flavor majorly. I wish I hadn't ordered that. For dessert, I recommend Bourbon Vanilla Crème Brûlée and Crêpes Suzette Flambéed with Grand Marnier. The cocktails are delicious, I recommend Kiki. Overall, not a great experience. If I ever do come back, I will hopefully try something with flavor.

Bergen F.

Yelp
Maybe you're a jaded New Yorker who's spent more time than you'd care to admit in Balthazar, Odeon, Pastis, Orsay, and even good old Artisanal. Yeah, you can recite the standard brasserie menu in English or French, and you know your Art Nouveau from your Art Deco. Well forget all of that. It's still better in France. And La Coupole is exhibit A. When you see the room, you'll realize just how pale those Stateside imitations truly are. And then you only have to let the professionals do their jobs. Almost everything was exceptional, which is not to say at a three-star Michelin level, but rather exactly comme il faut for a buzzing brasserie. Bread, olives, eggs mayonnaise, oysters, caesar salad, veal confit, fries, choucroute garnie, then apple crumble to finish... I'll be popping those little juniper berries from the classic choucroute between my molars in my sleep. Our only quibble was that the sauce for the veal was a little salty. Everything else was a bullseye. Make a reservation - really, it will help - and away you go. The service was warm and virtually telepathic from the beginning, with our waiter anticipating all our requirements while cracking jokes that even the kids could understand. He gave us a couple of the day's menus to take home - illustrated and signed! - but we would have remembered this fabulous meal just fine without them.

Aldo A.

Yelp
Service was a bit slow despite it not being too busy. The food was good nothing to go crazy about EXCEPT the crème burlee was absolutely amazing. The best crème burlee I've had in my life. Ambience was great, you can tell it's a common place where people go to celebrate a special day.

Robin S.

Yelp
We spent out last night in Paris at this lovely ,large, French restaurant. We arrived around 10pm without a reservation and we were seated within 20 minutes, outside ( which we requested). They seem to be known for their raw bar- but we had the peppercorn tenderloin with fries and it was delicious! We started with the burrata salad, and it was fine, not great ,but perfectly fine. The service was outstanding! The best we had in all of Paris. Friendly, professional and efficient! The crepe for dessert is a must!! Enjoy!

Gryffindor K.

Yelp
This large restaurant with great ambience, lots of people-watching opportunities, and attentive, friendly service doesn't do much in the way of original dishes, but it does the classics beautifully. The French onion soup was by far the best I have ever had, with lots of attention paid to creating a great beef stock, not just relying on caramelized onions (or overdoing them). I chose a Caesar salad to keep the meal at least somewhat on the lighter side and wow. Also the best I've ever had, with a delicious, lighter dressing than usually comes with the salad. In the midst of dinner, a large group of people came dancing through the restaurant, with a trumpet band playing a great classic jazz piece and other members in costume. They paraded through the restaurant and then stayed a while to play. Such fun!

Lan D.

Yelp
I arrived without a reservation that was made by OPEN TABLE but La Coupole doesn't subscribe. Alas I was provided a good table. 1st the pate foi gras, delicious Secondary a lobster. Finally the filet of beef. I explained what "Pittsburg style" means. And the filet came perfectly prepared. Add a bottle of Bordeaux. Everything was perfect. PS. I paid the bill of the young couple next to me. Anomalously.

Brski B.

Yelp
Old-school. Honestly, except for the onion soup (which was exceptional), everything was good, not great; but the experience, the ambiance, in a great space, was a joy. As to the food, we had the following: chilled shrimp (good), escargot (not enough garlic-butter), onion soup (excellent), fries (good), filet mignon (fine), steak tartare (too much sweet relish), lobster ravioli (not stuffed ravioli but slicks of pasta with lobster on top), sole meunière (fine), profiteroles (good), and crème brûlée (good). I wish I tried the curry. 3.5 rounded up.

Slu L.

Yelp
This restaurant has a good environment and service is good. My highlight of the platter is the crab. I don't mind order a whole crab instead of the half.

kathy w.

Yelp
We had dinner for my husband's birthday here and everything was excellent! The steaks were cooked to perfection and the seafood platter was fresh and delicious! The service was also great! We tried to speak in French as much as possible but they were very accommodating. Definitely recommend.

Lam N.

Yelp
Six people in our group contracted Covid on the day we met at La Coupole. It may have been a coincidence, but what an extraordinary one!

Oscar G.

Yelp
I studied abroad for a summer and for one of the paid dinners we had bottomless wine here as well as a fantadtic dinner. I thoroughly enjoyed the courses even the veal which I am not a usual enjoyer. We packed the place with 20-30 of students for our Grand Tour of Europe Program. It was amazing even though our stay in Paris was a bit messy. First time I ever was intoxicated at the old age of 20 years lol. They have an exquisite bathroom decor and even finer when you are a glass of wine too many. Would love to return someday when I visit Europe again. Hello from Sunny California, City of Angels

Yelp
during my many solo meals in paris, this was one of my favorite dinners! i had a lovely quiet corner to myself in the outdoor area. Ordered an old fashioned to start and sipped it while people watching. The server was very nice, maybe b/c I looked lonely or something lol For food I ordered something asparagus and moule frites! My main goal that night was to cross moule frites off my list since I was running out of the must have French dishes to try. Now to explain my "something asparagus", so lately I've been really digging grilled asparagus and with my spectacular high school level French, I thought I knew everything on the menu. Soooo without asking, I ordered it and a bowl was served shortly with 2 halves of short stalk of asparagus laid out in the middle of a wide bowl. I stared at it and asked myself "o no... 8€ for not even a whole stick of asparagus?!?!" THEN the server came and poured some matcha latte like liquid into it. OHHHHH light bulb moment - it was cream of asparagus SOUP! Lol long story short, it was delicious but I would not order again for 8€ lol Moule frites - (I'll keep this short) it was delicious n you should try it lol accompanies in Chablis sauce n it was def one of the most memorable moule frites I've had. It sounds like such a basic and simple dish, but o man that meal was glorious! After a long day, I couldn't have asked for a more satisfying meal! The restaurant was beautiful and classic! Tho the menu did seem overpriced and perhaps caters to tourists more but hey, as long as there's a good time, I'm always down!

Irene D.

Yelp
special place with special food. great service, bright ambience, family friendly. will always come back when we're in town.

Rani T.

Yelp
Great service and great food! We had the Coupole seafood platter, tuna tartare, and Riesling mussels with fries. The seafood platter was fresh and fulfilling. The service was amazing!

Luiza G.

Yelp
Thought it would be touristy but the classics were done right. Lovely steak frite, skate and profiteroles were perfect. *would be nice if rolls were warm.

Yelp
Just got into town and decided to ask the hotel front desk where is a good place to eat some French food and he recommended this place. It was a short walk away from the hotel so we decided to check it out. Certainly gives you the vibes of an authentic, old fashioned French restaurant. The waiter spoke good English so ordering was no issue. I ordered the curry pork dish that has been served since 1927. It was very tender and delicious. The peppered steak was also good with authentic French flavoring. Overall, it was a very pleasant dining experience.

Yelp
Having had a great experience a few weeks prior, I decided to take my fiancé for a wonderful dinner. We had an experience almost the opposite of what I experienced on my first visit. The waiter seemed bothered every time we asked for something that should have been simple. We had to ask for bread, then we had to ask for butter. He brought no plates for the bread and had to ask and we were missing a fork on the table which I borrowed from another table so as not to bother the server yet again. Each time the waiter would be in the area but not even look up at us. We ordered our meal, which took a very long time to receive. Upon arriving, it was not at all what we ordered. Rather than waiting another 30-40 minutes to cook our actual meal, we ate what was served. It was good, but not what we ordered. The bill arrived and no offer to compensate the disaster of the night. I had to call the maiître d' over. He only offered comping the appetizer, while nice, I don't think was enough. While the food is good, the service leaves something to be desired and for such a restaurant, they need to spend a little more time training some of their wait staff.

Yelp
Excellent seafood selection, wonderful menu, beautiful and historical building, service exceeded expectations!! We had an amazing deal for our last evening in Paris. The waiter was helpful and provided recommendations for regional oysters and accompanying wine.

Yelp
Such fine dining! When you step in, you KNOW this isn't just some everyday brasserie. Art lines the ceilings and walls, and seating is comfortable and spacious, presumably for the 3-course meal you should be ready to indulge in. I had... Oysters (too much lemon for me, but very high quality) Foie Gras (best I've had anywhere yet) Sauerkraut Special: Pork belly, two types of sausage, with a boiled potato over sauerkraut. The meats were amazing, but sides definitely needed work. They are not well-versed in German, unfortunately. Dessert was creme brulee which was nice, except for it being a bit heavy on the yolk IMO, which messed up the texture a bit. However, the bourbon & vanilla used to flavor it worked well together. The atmosphere was amazing, and the bathrooms unique. To turn on the faucet, step on the pedal in the floor. Service was also just a bit spotty, with our primary waiter seeming quite aloof and not too concern with how much we enjoyed our meal. In France, I'm used to being left alone for up to an hour to hang out with friends, but they didn't even ask about beverages! Overall, this is a great place for a large group to dine. Prices were definitely fair (3 courses for 37 Euro). They don't execute everything well, but they do French perfectly, which is what you should come here for. I'd recommend this to anyone in the area.

Yelp
Got a 3 course meal with champagne included. The champagne came out with a small cup of soup and then the appetizer was 6 oysters. The oysters tasted super fresh and were plated with a lemon for flavor. The entree was lamb curry which was so delicious. Probably the most delicious curry I've ever tasted. The dessert I had was a chocolate mousse sort of thing. It had raspberry and a chocolate shell on top. My dad had the crab and avocado appetizer. The fish entree and the crepe dessert. We both really liked all the food we got. No complaints.

Yelp
Well this was unexpected. We spent the day out of town and got back late and wanted to have a wonderful dinner. We didn't start out with a reservation so may that's what did us in. We walk in, immediately told there's an hour wait with no less than 30 tables in plain view that are open. We sit at the bar and wait for service, 25 minutes go by and no attention by the wait staff. I went to the bar twice and was assured that we would be served. Eventually I am served most likely the worst old fashioned in my life (it was on their menu, so I assumed it wasn't out of the ordinary). We are sat immediately after we received our drinks, as if it was planned, then the real fun begins. We wait for an additional 30-45 minutes at our table before being even spoken to. As soon as we get up to leave, the waiter miraculously shows up. If this was purely a food review website, this meal would get a 4.5*. The waiter and associated staff were the slowest and least organized group we've encountered on our vacation. I seriously hope your other servers are better. Please note that all guests deserve your best.

Yelp
Perfect spot for a relaxing lunch. Prix fixe menu and good wine prices make it reasonably inexpensive and the ambiance, service and food quality are excellent. We had great fun and I highly recommend it if you're in the area. We made a reservation and it was full so consider that as well.

Yelp
Historic traditional brasserie! Entertaining service and wonderful food . Started with the soft boiled egg appetizer what an interesting asparagus combination. I would order it again!

Yelp
After 8 trips to Paris I finally got here. I expected a more traditional decor but was pleased anyway. My timing was off the normal schedule for French dining but I was in the area and had to try it. The service was pretty casual for such an upscale place. I ate during an obvious shift change so it was interesting to observe the activity...Meal was good pate de campagne as app and cod as entree. I could have skipped the tarte au citron though-not my favorite. I would return

Yelp
It has been a couple of years since I visited this restaurant but it was definitely a stand out dining experience for me. It was the last night of our trip so my boyfriend and I were looking for somewhere memorable to eat. We were recommended this place so decided to try it out. The restaurant itself is massive - there was easily a couple of hundred diners when we went - and the interior is beautiful. Despite its size, the place was packed and we had to wait 15 minutes to get a table which gave us an excuse to get a drink at the bar. The menu was predominantly focused on seafood, with a few meat options as well. My starter of prawn tempura with chilli dip was delicious - not very French but perfectly cooked. To follow we both ordered Lobster with scallop risotto. It was my first time tasting lobster and I was not disappointed - the dish wasn't cheap but it was worth every penny. Our desserts were a pistachio macarron with cherries and a mango soup with coconut ice cream - the perfect end to a lovely meal. All in all this was the perfect end to a great trip. If you're ever looking for somewhere in Paris to indulge in seafood, good wine and a great atmosphere this is the place for you.

Yelp
This was probably the favorite of our five Hemingway pub stops. The place just had a cool vibe to it and the service was pretty decent. Papa would have approved. There are pictures on the walls of some of the famous patrons that have visited here. We did not eat, but did enjoy our beer and ambiance.

Yelp
Overall food: 2 stars, Service: 4 stars. Food taste just OK or a bit below average. I'd like to use " food without the soul" to describe the food. Recipes are a bit bored. Also over cooked the food we ordered. Save the calories and food another place to eat :)

Yelp
My gfs and I were looking for a nice restaurant and we found this place thanks to good ole yelp! It's really cute inside! Very bright and comforting without being too fancy. Our waiter spoke english and was very helpful explaining items on the menu. He even suggested a delicious bottle of Riesling that went perfectly with our food. We started off with the pate which was pretty tasty. I ordered the sea bass and my gfs got the steak and trout. The trout was a disaster. It wasn't cooked properly twice so finally, my gf just asked for the salmon. I liked my sea bass and my gf liked her steak. We got the souffle and the creme brulee. The souffle was delicious and the brulee was just brulee. Overall, it was a good experience and the food was pretty good. I don't know if I'd go back though.
