On the Grid : Casa del Cine MX

"La Casa del Cine is an art-house cinema where you can enjoy and discover Mexican and foreign independent films equally. While there are only two projections rooms and three movies a week, the selection and curation makes it worth for any cinephile out there. If you want to be ahead of the curve or have a love for filmmaking, then make sure to plan a visit to Casa del Cine, drink a coffee in the lobby and watch a great film." - Bryant Castro & Abel Coss from Open Late

As a film buff & working film professional on big movies and tv shows I must say I didn’t meet the same expectations or enthusiasm. I wanted to purchase an item in the reading room which fine ok the said no but wow couldn’t have had a better home and care with me. Very disappointing how they throw around relics of material like trash. It was dark, dusty, dirty and some of the materials were falling apart. If you are an actual lover of cinema and or work in film production don’t come here you will be great dissatisfied. Also, they were friendly to my white boyfriend but not me.

Excellent place. Cozy, intimate and friendly at an accessible price and with a great selection of films. Looking forward to watching more films here. Will surely go back

Cute, cozy independent cinema with a bar, small library, and mini balcony with views out to the street. Prices (with student discount) aren’t exorbitant, and the cinema itself is quite nice. An extra cushion or two for the sofas wouldn’t hurt.

Great place to enjoy some indie films, but not before having some coffee and a beer in the lobby 😁

Beautiful cinema, lots of space to chill before and after the movies. Good coffee!

Yelp
Another of those locations where you never thought you find in the area, i mean a cinema school in downtown? its true you can find a school about anything anywhere specially a paid/private one. Anyway besides the academic involvement on this place, which seems to be great as my fellow yelpers state, this place projects good pieces of art, on a good size yet small projection room.... yes most of this films are or most likely where nominated on some festival and won some, has foreign and national movies im not sure if they play in foreing languages along with subtitles but i hope they do so they can grab non local public Add some popcorn and beer or soda if thats what you like to do at the movies, all including the movie for just about 100pesos per person
