Walked in and one of their pieces fell apart (super fragile) without me touching it. They charged me 200 pesos and mentioned its for the artists repair costs of the piece, I figured it’s fair given I was there when it fell. Walked it soon after (5-10min) and found another tourist in a similar position. Not happy about the scamming.

Great store with all variety of products in one place. It's a bit easier to browse and less crowded than the markets. We went here first, then to the markets thinking the markets would be cheaper, but to our surprise in many cases the prices we saw here were cheaper! Worth a visit if you're in this side of town.

One of the best places in town to buy souvenirs and handcrafts, and alebrijes that are sold almost directly from the artisans. Support the local vendors instead of the touristy shops!

It was a lot of fun shopping here. Lots of little interconnected rooms each with their own craft. Staff is super friendly and will take the items you want to buy to the front check out and sort of keep a tab going for you. It makes it easy to shop around and have your items waiting to be purchased all at once. Very affordable and price tags on everything.

Big artisan market with tons of different souvenirs, jewelry, pottery, textiles, and more; proceeds go to local artisan groups; very affordable, takes card, and will wrap up your fragile pieces to travel back home safely! Don't miss out on this one stop shop.

From the outside this place looks like a total tourist trap, but after scouring the mercado and other stores around the city, I found La Casa de las Artesanías de Oaxaca to have the best variety and really good prices to boot!

Best place to buy Oaxaca handcrafts! We arrived thinking that it was some museum or exhibition, but it was a store of the most characteristic crafts of Oaxaca, the prices are affordable, value for money. Unfortunately some artisans assign the price depending on your appearance or origin but in this store that doesn't happen since all the items have their price tag so you also don't have to ask the price for each item you like. We would have loved to see this place from the beginning of our visit! Recommended

We were in Oaxaca from May 20-27, and on May 25 I went back to buy 2 black clay coffee mugs. They packaged them up nicely and when I got home I noticed there was a crack on the inside of one of the mugs. I filled both with coffee, and the crack in the one was actually open all the way to the outside. The coffee dripped out of the nose of the one coffee mug. It looked hilarious, but now I’m upset because I can’t just go back and get it replaced. I guess we have to be careful what we buy there, as obviously they didn’t check the mugs. Sad!
