At L&E Oyster Bar in Silver Lake, you can unwind in a cozy setting while savoring fresh daily oysters, clam chowder, and delightful small plates.
"Silver Lake’s great oyster spot L&E is open for patio dining on their quiet corner of Silver Lake Blvd. They have an abbreviated menu that includes oyster po’boys and crab cakes sandwiches, plus fantastic mussels and fries that are great to have on the table all night for occasional dunking, along with their usual selection of excellent cocktails and wine. If you’re looking for a casual date spot on the Eastside, this is a great option. Open Wednesday through Sunday from 4-9pm, and they aren’t currently accepting reservations." - brant cox
"The shrimp cocktail at L&E Oyster Bar is massive, meaty, and herby. Each prawn takes four to five bites to consume and weighs as much as an AirPod case. Rather than being cooked in stock, each crustacean is gently poached in olive and herbs and then chilled, which gives them a classy, regal sheen. Order them with a glass of champagne on the upstairs balcony overlooking Silver Lake while reading the book you brought with you. Maybe something by Sally Rooney? " - brant cox, arden shore
"L&E Oyster Bar always comes to mind when wrapping up a tough week. Their oysters, libations and casual atmosphere will relax you priming you for the weekend. They have a sit-down restaurant downstairs and a bar counter with small bites upstairs. And yes, upstairs they do have happy hour specials on their daily dozen perfectly paired with glass of wine." - Presshaus LA
"Of course the oysters here are spectacular (creamy and briny, like someone hand-delivered them from the ocean), but this neighborhood restaurant also serves a solid burger and a wedge salad that's heavy on bacon bits. There’s an upstairs space with a limited menu and Happy Hour specials, and they’ve also taken over the sidewalk out front where well-dressed couples always seem to be sipping white negronis and smiling." - brant cox, nikko duren, sylvio martins
"A lot of places that call themselves “oyster bars” are anything but. Not L&E in Silver Lake. They have an actual oyster bar upstairs, and they’re shucking a wide variety of excellent oysters from both coasts. It’s one of the more pricey spots on here, but you’re guaranteed the highest quality of oysters from Wellfleet, Hood Island, and more. They’ve also got great cocktails (our preference with oysters is a French 75) and offer a dozen or a half-dozen oysters at a discount during Happy Hour." - nikko duren
