"Fresh Strawberries and Cherries! In spring and summer months, peaking in July, it is strawberry and cherry season. Street vendors around the city sell both en mass. Raised to Danish agricultural standards, they are incredibly flavorful, healthy, and the perfect budget-friendly snack for exploring the city. One of my favorite places to buy from is a small flower and fruit stand located just south of Norreport in the square called Kultorvet. The booth is impossible to miss, and with the recently installed fountain situated about 10 paces away, you can sit and enjoy them while watching people go about their daily business."

Yelp
Walking about the Pedestrian Street left my mom and I famished. While there were plenty of restaurants to choose from many where specific cuisines like Italian or Middle Eastern. Both have wonderful food but I was looking for something specifically Danish. I walked around the corner to see a sign stating there were smorrebrod, Danish open sandwiches, being served. This is it! Up the stairs and to the left we went and walked into a small bar. We were greeted by a young blonde and seated, our menus handed to us. I scanned the menu for the sandwiches and found the selection. What jumped at the me was the roast beef sandwich with remoulade. I must admit I was a little skeptical but went with it on a whim. My random choice turned out to be a winner. The sandwich was placed in front of me and being used to eating a sandwich with my hands, I had to stop a moment and pick up a knife and fork. Bread, similar to a pumperknickel but not as dark, slathered with butter lined the bottom of the plate. Next came the roast beef. On top of that the remoulade which was tasted like a sweet horse radish. Rounding out the sandwich was greens, fried onions, and sugar and vinegar soaked cucumbers, and one solitary tomato. I cut a piece and moaned once it hit my tongue. The flavors all melded together wonderfully. The roast beef was juicy and that remoulade added a kick. Those fried onions were a great touch but the winner were the cucumbers. The sugar vinegar mix added a cool element to the sandwich. Needless to say I was so pleased with my choice, we ended up making the trip all the way back later in the week so I could have that sandwich again and it was as good as it was the first time.
