My friend and I ordered a simple breakfast that consisted of French toast, scrambled eggs topped with veggies, and bacon. Then, we ordered a delicious coffee from the little stand outside next to the cafe. We had our breakfast outside watching the waves, across the cafe there is a small shop and behind it are chairs and tables with the view of the ocean. If you are in the area, you must stop by. The breakfast was good!

I got a Mexi Burger and it was very good. I'm a burger fan so I try burger the first time at any restaurant and I think their burger was very simple but very unique and tasty. Fresh meat, fresh material, and great combination of jalapeño and avocado added to the journey! I will definitively come back and try to discover and enjoy more in their burger. My wife got a number 4 breakfast burrito with ham and she was very impressed too. Also the price is very very reasonable and affordable for what they offer.

Went to Konos right at opening this am based on recommendations and the gentleman at the front was so kind and helpful. We came a little early and got a coffee from their coffee stand - vanilla latte was delicious. Headed back and got breakfast burrito #3 and were SHOCKED at how big they were. We were even happier when we realized they had beach side patio seating so we could watch the surfers. The staff was truly so kind and welcoming, food was amazing and views were unbeatable.

Kono’s Cafe is a small convenient cafe. Very much so a surfer/beach vibe with its close proximity to Mission Beach. Though their menu is small, their dishes pack a punch of flavor. I ordered the Big Breakfast #1, which there was no way I was finishing everything. It was the best breakfast I’ve had in a while. I’m pancakes were cooked to perfection and light and airy, Kono’s potatoes are these crispy, warm potatoes covered in cheese and green onions (similar to creek fries!), and eggs your way, which I was too interested in the pancakes and potatoes to really touch those. You also get an English muffin and bacon, but I didn’t even need those. Very, very good and I’m sad I don’t have the option to eat their breakfast in Ohio. Highly, highly recommend for breakfast at any point in the day as they serve breakfast all day during operating hours!

2nd time I've visited location and I can tell ya the food has been consistent! I loved it the first time I came and definitely loved it this second time. Friendly service and once you order, the food comes out QUICK. Expect to wait about 30 min in line just to get your order in, though. Luckily, they have a separate coffee cart where you can order coffee from. Helps pass the time when in line This time around, I ordered the Egg Burrito 5 which consists of chorizo, jalapeños, avocado, green pepper, onion, cheese, and their salsa. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you like spicy.

This spot has been on my list to try since moving to san diego. A friend invited me out for brunch and suggested this place and i was excited that i was finally getting to try it. This is located by the beach. We went in november so it was a bit chilly. I was torn between getting a breakfast plate, a burger and pancakes. I ended up with a bacon cheeseburger (added a fried egg) pancake and potatoes on the side. The burger was perfectly cooked medium well for me. Very good burger. I had asked if i could just order one pancake since i didnt think i could eat 3. I am so glad i asked because one pancake was huge! The side of kono potatoes was a huge portion can definitely be shared. You order your food first and then you have the option of sitting indoors, outside of the place, or across the way facing the beach. Even though it was nipping cold, we decided to sit by the beach to get some sun rays. The staff here are very nice. They accept card and cash. I did not use the bathrooms are so i cant say if they have baby changing stations. They do not have a parking lot, so try your luck with street parking. Beachview. Pancake. Breakfast burger. Great company. Can't get any better than that!

Craving a breakfast burrito? This place has it for you! The only downside is that this place is very popular! There was a bit of a line outside on a late Saturday morning, but the wait was worth the hefty burrito and it definitely hit the spot! The eggs were not dry, perfect amount of avocado and pico de gallo. Since the place is next to the beach, I recommend getting it to go and sitting on a spot in the sand or out on one of the benches. There was seating inside the cafe if outside is not your fav (but that's crazy since you're next to the ocean!) or if you prefer the porch seating. The waiter/waitress will come to you with your food once you order.

Stopped by on Christmas day while vacationing in San Diego. A cute little beach-side coffee/snack shop with a large variety of coffee and non-coffee drinks. I got a latte which was a little bitter, but it was fine overall. My husband got a drip coffee, which I tried, and it was bitter too. Friendly service and a overall good experience.

(5 out of 5) This place is great. When you come there will be a line, don't worry it goes quick and it worth it! Great bang for you buck breakfast, if I was a local this would be the spot I go to the most, me and my fiancé ate for around 20$ and had a bunch! Of food, there konos potatoes are amazing and the ambiance is just great, right on the beach in the very lively pacific beach, if you come I can promise you won't be disappointed! Have been trying to Check this spot out for some time but the line is always super long! Monday morning around 11 the line was equally long but we took a chance and stopped by, after ordering we didn't want too long for the food to come out which was nice Portions are very generous for the price which was super nice and everything was pretty good! The Kono's potatoes are covered in cheese and cooked with peppers and onions, the bacon egg scramble was similar and also pretty good! Would definitely come back to try their yummy looking burritos

Way too hyped up. Came here labor day weekend which was a bad idea. Waited 1 hour for a mid burrito. I got the burrito #3 and it was not good. Definitely needed salsa it was so dry and bland. After I ordered, it did come out after about 5 minutes. Glad it wasn't $20. 2 stars for food coming out fast and it was hot so I knew it was made to order.

Holy smokes! This was one of the best breakfasts I've had while visiting San Diego! Warning: you do have to stand in line for about 20-30 minutes before ordering but once you order.. food is out in 5 minutes! Absolutely worth the wait. The staff was so kind. It's right in the beach so the views are worth it! I will be coming back!!

The Mexi burger was delicious! One of the best hamburgers in San Diego. The service is tremendous the location is beautiful! Kono'this is a treasure of San Diego!

Don't let the line deter you! It goes pretty fast and is worth it! We got here at 8 am on a Sunday and the line was just out the building and there were still a few tables open inside. When we left around 9 it was wrapped around it. So earlier the better. I got the veggie scramble and my hubs got big breakfast 2. We ordered a bagel with fruit for our kiddos to split since we'd have a lot of food to share and were so sweetly surprised when they also brought us a Mickey Mouse shaped pancake to share. What?! It was such a sweet gesture and the kids were so happy. Wow the food was delicious, huge portions, and didn't break the bank. We actually brought home leftovers, it was that much. The staff is so kind and helpful. And oh my gosh the coffee!! Even the decaf tasted like a pour over. I would come here for breakfast, I'd come here for just coffee even. We could not say enough good things about this place. The one thing I will say is the veggie scramble was a little spicy- which isn't a critique because I should've known that from all the peppers in it. On the big breakfast, the bacon was perfectly cooked and my husband could not stop talking about how good his breakfast was. 10/10, highly recommend. We will be back.

I met with some friends for lunch today. Enjoyed the view of the ocean from the patio. The restaurant was across the street from the patio and they brought my food out. Great service. I had a burrito with eggs, bacon and cheese. Was a nice size. Not too large not too small. My friends also had breakfast. They enjoyed their food as well. Would love to go back. Just be aware that parking can be hard to find.

Definitely a great spot. Good food and coffee. Staff is really nice. Prices I would say are reasonable. It does get busy, the line gets long but definitely worth the wait. They have seating inside of the establishment and a small additional seating area across the way next to a small gift shop. It does get packed but you have the entire beach/boardwalk to sit or stop at Kono's for a coffee and take a walk.

Right in the beach with good food and a busy atmosphere! Our group of 6 ordered a couple of the "big plates" and a breakfast sandwich. The big plates are a ton of food (I probably could have split it) and everyone was satisfied with their order! Waiting in the line to order was the longest part, and service afterward was quick! Family-owned joints like this, that have been around for decades, often become so beloved that their reputation precedes them far outside of their supposed sphere of influence. Case in point: I'd heard of Kono's Cafe all the way back home in Portland, so I knew we were in for good things here. Queue up to order: there will be a line, but it moves fast enough to not be an issue, and slow enough to allow you to whittle down your selection before ordering. I had the Kono's Burger (fantastic! if I don't need to ask for steak sauce, that says something!), my wife had the chorizo breakfast sandwich, and the rest of our party of friends had...other stuff that I didn't pay attention to. Nobody left hungry or dissatisfied, I can tell you that! There isn't any "service" other than the interaction with those at the counter, but even that brief encounter was jovial and welcoming; the owners and employees here seem happy to be there and to serve, which is always a plus. But hey, if I worked on the San Diego coast, I'd probably like my job more, too! I also dig the surfer vibe they've got going on here. It really ties everything together. Very recommended, and lives up to everything good I'd heard about the Kono Cafe! Would return in a heartbeat!

An absolute hidden gem right by the board walk in Mission bay. The prices are so reasonable, especially considering the amount of food you get. My friend and I got the veggie scramble with tons of veggies and some green chilies, potatoes and an english muffin. It was easily enough for two people and maybe even three and the cost was $16. One got a breakfast burrito and another a plate with French toast and eggs. Burrito was huge as was the other plate. I really recommend splitting something. They also have lunch. the line out the door was almost continuous. Small inside but they have a patio with seating around the back. The food came out quickly and no one seemed to care if you sat and visited,

The breakfast burritos here were pretty decent. Nothing out of this world, but they were heavy and very filling. It lasted me two meals. I'd say the salsa gave it the most flavor and life; without it, it's a bit bland.

I'm giving this place because the prices can't be beat for the location & amount of food. Crowd: locals (you know that means it's good!) Food: go for the burritos!! The quantities are huge. It's not the most amazing food, but it's good for the price! Coffee: get it somewhere else! The place is small, you order at the cashier and they bring you your food - you can go sit at the patio by the ocean, on the other side of the street. Tough to find a spot, but worth it. The people working there were alllll super nice and helpful! I would go back, but I would NOT get coffee there, not good. Unless you like dinner type coffee.

Great coffee and breakfast along the pedestrian/bike trail. Perfect start to the day when staying in the area- an Oceanside walk with great views. Grab your coffee and breakfast, then cross the street to their private balcony overlooking the water, pier, and morning surfers.

Heard about this spot through TikTok and was intrigued! It was right around the corner from our hotel which was another sign to check it out. The person taking our order was super friendly and quick. I ordered the chorizo sandwich which consisted of chorizo, egg, cheese, tomato, and mayo on an English muffin along with fruits. My boyfriend ordered the egg burrito #1. We got our order right away and sat outside in the patio. We completely missed the other patio section across the spot that faces the ocean front so you'd have a beautiful view while you ate! All in all, this spot is a must try!

Came around 10 am and there was already a line out the door. It was also sprinkling so no outdoor seating was available. The line actually moved faster than I thought and we were able to put an order in at the front. The seating inside is quite small and limited. I ordered the breakfast burrito #5 with chorizo in it. The size of the burrito is pretty big and satisfied my appetite. The flour tortilla is thick and cooked well, and the chorizo, bell peppers, and eggs filled the burrito quite nicely. However, it was really hot and it sat inside my stomach hot as well. For the side of potatoes, they looked really good but they are not seasoned at all not even with salt or pepper so it didn't really have any flavor. Overall, the location of the cafe is nice and the burrito is good for the price you pay here.

Went there 2 times for breakfast and I won't be back. The French toast was a piece of bread with syrup...horrible IHOP is better. Service was ok. Prices too high

Just visiting Pb and came here to get breakfast. There was a slight line but overall the service was quick and the servers were very nice. I was waiting inside when they told me to choose a spot. They told me they would bring out what I ordered. I chose the spot with view overlooking the ocean. Once I got what I ordered I had to dig in. It's simple but very much aesthetically pleasing. Eggs and bacon are to be expected. Bacon and potatoes with cheese were oily but just the right amount. The English muffin was toasted well and it was great how they already layered the butter on it. Lastly, the toast had just the right amount of sweetness and powdery goodness to it. Overall I would say a great breakfast spot for the value. What I ordered would be perfect for an instant hangover cure.

WOW! The previous reviews that we read before deciding to stop by Kono's this morning were spot on. The food was great. The service was quick. And the location? RIGHT off the beach at Crystal Pier! Perfection. My best friend and I are in town celebrating 20 years of friendship. I ordered the breakfast sandwich (as offered, no alterations), and she ordered the Big Breakfast #2. We finished everything and were so pleased. I also had the fruit cup. Mmmm... delicious. If you're in the area- stop by. You won't regret it! (The coffee stand just past the patio was good too. A little pricey, but perfect for washing down the breakfast sandwich - I had the iced Milky Way Mocha)

San Diego offers neither the plethora of Taiwanese and East Asian options of LA's San Gabriel Valley nor the vibrant desi scene of the Bay. But there are a few bright spots in the city's offerings, including what I was told to be a competitive breakfast burrito scene. Kono's serves a number of varieties of the same in a "surf shack" type setting right next to Pacific Beach, providing a great outdoor setting to enjoy your burrito. I went for the number 2, which included eggs, cheese, and a very generous portion of green chili. I could have used a bit more cheese, or some hash browns for added crunch, but the salsa on the side was excellent and did add a nice kick to the burrito.

Excellent! Always good, always consistent, always fresh and delicious food and super quick service. We've been coming here for 20+ years and recommend the Big Breakfast with pancakes (Erin Jo's go-to) and the Big Breakfast Burrito! Of course, everything we've ever had has been amazing. The vibe is chill and the million dollar view from the beach deck is spectacular. Parking is as you'd expect for PB so give yourself time to locate a spot a couple of blocks away but it will be worth it. Say hey to Jeff when you arrive and enjoy your meal.

Visiting San Diego for the weekend we were walking along the boardwalk in PB needing some breakfast, so we stopped here - so glad we did! The inside gives very 2000's-surf-shop vibes, small hole in the wall diner on the beach. The menu isn't huge, but it's got just about anything you'd want! You wait in line and order at the counter, and they'll come find you whether your outside or inside! Prices aren't too crazy, but definitely higher compared to home for us. I ordered the breakfast burrito with the green chilis and added jack cheese - simple yet perfectly cooked and delicious! I could only finish half and I just wanted more even though I was full. Was even good cold the next day! I also recommend the coffee cart next to the place, my boyfriend and I both got delicious cold brews!

Great spot right next to the water. Eat then stroll along the beach and catch some great views French toast and breakfast burrito were both delish!!! They split them both no problem. Nice portions. Food was fresh. Indoor ambience was Ok but to just walk outside and be on the water is amazing. Good spot for sure !!!!

My family has been coming to Kono's since 2000. The cheeseburgers are life. The simplicity makes them perfect. The Konos breakfast is also so simple and so perfect. Since we've been visiting Konos for so long, we've gotten to know some of the long-time staff. I joke that if my dad had Martin's address, he'd send Christmas cards. The food is great and when you can meat a burger with this view, what else could get better?

Adorable little spot to get breakfast right by the beach! No frills, and the food and service were both amazing. My husband and I both got the #3 burrito and loved them! Soft tortillas and the perfect amount of filling. You can also grab a coffee and sit on a patio overlooking the ocean. Best breakfast we had during our short stay in San Diego.

Kono's is always amazing. The food is delicious and speedy every time. The line is worth the wait when there is a line. The seating options cannot be beat anywhere else in the area.

Great prices and close to home when it comes to taste! Who doesn't love breakfast next to the water. It's great for sitting by yourself and eat while listening to the waves but also nice to bring a friend or 2 along!

Service: staff was calm and collected despite all the hustle and bustle at this location. The line was out the door and they were still patient and smiling as they took orders. We waited about 45 minutes in line. 5/5 Food: Considering how long the line was, I thought that the food would be out of this world amazing. I ordered a BLTA and fries and I was underwhelmed. There were maybe three pieces of bacon in my sandwich, with mostly lettuce and minimal tomatoes. Tomatoes are my favorite so I was a little sad about that part. However, they have a good amount of avocado, probably about half an avocado. My fries came out maybe 10 minutes after my sandwich, so I got to judge them separately than the sandwich itself. The fries were actually quite dry steak fries and they didn't have seasoning on them. Honestly, I enjoy home cooked food more than the food here, but to each their own. 2/5 Ambiance: it's right next to the PB pier and you can clearly see the ocean from their outdoor seating. My favorite part was the sea breeze and getting to do some people watching while I ate my sandwich. We saw people rollerblading, walking their cats, flying kites, and more. Their seating setup was not the cleanest, but they are quite busy. 3/5

When I went, the line was out the door. The line moved quickly, and once you reach the front, they take your order and provide you with a number. Once the food is ready, they bring the food out to the tables. There are tables inside and outside with the view of the water. The menu is fairly simple which makes it easy to order! We ordered burrito #5 with chorizo, jalapenos, avocado, green pepper, onion, cheese and salsa. It was filled with amazing and delicious ingredients. We also ordered big breakfast #2 that comes with french toast, eggs, bacon and potatoes! Dont sit on these potatoes because it was loaded! Overall, its definitely not a light breakfast, but worth trying!

Kono's is a must when you're at Pacific Beach. Expect some type of a wait but it's worth it. The food is priced so cheap. We fed the family for like $35 which is amazing. We got a breakfast burrito, breakfast sandwich, side of potatoes, and pancakes. We placed our order walked by the deck and ordered a coffee and while we were waiting for our drink a person ran out our order to us. It was so quick!! We ate on the balcony overlooking the ocean. Overall, it was good cheap food and a beautiful view. Couldn't ask for anything more!

Great lunch spot in PB on the boardwalk area. It's a walk up and order and then find a spot to eat casual kinda place. Cool beach vibes, relax and chill, the wait staff will call out your name and bring your food. We went on New Year's Day so the line was pretty long and wound up to be a 20 minute wait. I ordered the cheeseburger and fries special and my hubby ordered the French toast with bacon. The cheeseburger was very delicious, handmade patty, juicy! The lettuce, tomato and cheese all very fresh and bun was toasted perfectly. Fries were the big thick cut type and they were cooked to perfection, very crispy and hot. Soooo good! Hubs loved his meal and we decided it might've been the first time we were there but we'd definitely come back!

We came on a Friday morning and there was a line already. There's only 1 person taking orders so the line went slow. There's indoor seating and 2 outdoor seating locations! One is next to the business next to the coffee stand and the other was hidden and is across the way behind the wind chime business. That's where the seating is with the beautiful view! (See pic) We got their burrito. It was good. Portion was generous. I wish it had potatoes in it I feel like that's a standard for a breakfast burrito in CA. We got the side of Kono potatoes and it was generous and we ended up taking it to-go. We snagged a spot outside behind the wind chime business bc it had a nice view of the ocean! Lots of people were eyeing our seats just waiting for us to leave. They have a coffee stand next door with all your favorite coffee options!!!

The food, the views, just perfection! Whether you're a SD local or just visiting this place is a must. The food is really well priced and so much food. For sure coming back!

I love Konos on PB! They have the best menu and heartiest meals. You won't leave here hungry. Expect to have a very full portion on your plate. I love that one of their outdoor patios is over looking the beach so you can watch the waves and surfers. They will bring your food out to you! The staff is so friendly and always helpful if you have questions or need a modification. It is always a treat to go here!

Ahhhhh. I got egg burrito #5 and substituted potatoes for chorizo. It was a 9/10. Everything was cooked perfectly, hash browns crispy and savory, egg fluffy, and the salsas were spicy and robust in flavor. I loved the green chilis mixed into the burrito, and finally, a burrito large enough for me, and one that stays intact! Wouldve loved a bit more hash brown and a bit more cheese, but that's just nitpicking. And the view! 5 stars! Best view for breakfast ever. I was elated eating this. Come here.

I've been to Konito's and I really like it, so I figured, why not try Kono's? Just as good with a line out the door and a nearby beach to walk on afterward. The french toast was nice with a side of bacon and the burritos have a great tortilla, fluffy eggs and other fresh fillings. Don't forget to ask for the salsa! :)

My mom was in town so we brought her here for breakfast. She had a plate and I had a burrito. Hands down best breakfast burrito I've had In a while. The tortillas were soft and fluffy, the chorizo and egg was fire! Mine had added jalapeños and cheese. Everything was freshly made. My mom enjoyed her plate. She said everything tasted really good. She only left a biscuit because it was a lot of food for her. The place has an adjacent coffee bar which I wanted to try but was too full. I ended up just getting an iced tea and my mom got an iced coffee. We will definitely be back!

Food 3.5/5 It's pretty average food. I had a breakfast sandwich and this latte. All was fine, not bad, but not memorable. Service 3/5 Outdoor and indoor seating. They have people checking the outside to wipe down pretty often and they bring the food out to you even if you are sitting outside. But it's not table service so just know that. Ambiance 5/5 I arrived early grabbed a seat outside and had a great view of the ocean. It's exactly what I was looking for in terms of food, location, ease of access from parking. Overall, this is a lax place and expect there to be lots of families on vacation during the day. Line picked up before they opened and it was a weekday. I will say I spent two mornings here and was comfortable enough to finish read a book for some time. I did get sunburned though.

I could barely finish it and I was hungry. My buddy's plate was also huge and he said it was all delicious. The place has a nice vibe. We sat inside, but I believe there's a seating area across the way where you could view the beach. This will be a breakfast stop for me whenever in the Pacific Beach area. A must try, but get there early. By the time we left, there was a line with about 20 people waiting to put their order in.
