Klein’s Bakery & Cafe (LakeviewEast)

We went to the cafe twice for breakfast during our stay in Chicago. We love their hot Pumpkin Spice latte and the Pistachios Matcha latte. We had the Mushroom, spinach and cream cheese puff pastry and Viral Bagel (Garlic and parsley cream cheese) on one day. The next day we had the Guava & cream pastry and Ham & cream cheese cachitos. We love all the breakfast items. First time trying a cachito. It is like a bread shaped in a crescent. The cafe atmosphere is very casual and relax.

Klein’s bakery is a must stop for us, their selection of coffee and baked goods is amazing, there’s always something new to try. Their viral Bagel is delicious! Great service and atmosphere. 100% recommended

I ordered a birthday cake and they did an incredible job !!! Not only was it beautiful but it was delicious. It’s absolutely a must do if you’re looking for a place to get a cake

The pricing is kind of high for what you’d expect, as my coffee and sandwich was around $20 not including tip. Overall a cool spot, but the interior gives off a dark and almost metropolitan vibe. Pretty nice if youre into that sort of thing. The coffee menu wasn’t anything special, but their food items were pretty tasty. The lack of handheld menus was a little disappointing, as I felt rushed by the staff to make a decision about my order. There’s also a strange lack of community engagement here, as there are very few things by way of the posters, business cards, and regulars you’d see at your typical Chicago cafe. The atmosphere was decent, huge props to whoever was playing the music today. All in all an above average experience. I have no idea how long this place has been here, but I hope it sees continued success.

**Disappointing Experience at Klein's Bakery** I visited Klein's Bakery in Lakeview East around 4:30 pm on 3/2/25. I purchased four items, only to discover that I was overcharged for each one. The item names on the checkout display didn't match my order, and when I questioned this, the store assistant claimed they cost the same anyway. After pointing out discrepancies between the display prices and my receipt, the assistant became visibly annoyed and proceeded to serve a new customer before addressing my issue. Once she finally attended to my problem, she called someone and spoke in a foreign language about voiding the original charge and processing the correct one. There was no apology, no offer to make it up to me. She simply handed me my items and the correct receipt silently, so I got my $4 back. Despite the high quality of their baked goods, the lack of customer service and apparent overcharging practices are concerning.

Their baked goodies are pure magic – from heavenly pastries to the perfect cup of joe. It's not just a cafe; it's a happy place where every bite feels like a hug. Klein's is a definite go-to for good vibes and delicious treats!

I love all ! I went Sunday during rush hour and everyone was nice and friendly! I tried the viral bagel . I have also ordered a cake and cookies from the website and they were amazing!

Very cute and clean place. Really nice atmosphere! The attendant mixed up my coffee order but it was still a great service. Wide variety of pastry and sweets. The lemon pie was a bit too sweet. We had mocha and cappuccino which were both good. Definitely would come back.
