"A popular hangout, Kits Beach—as the locals call it—faces English Bay, and in the summertime it buzzes with beach activities. Volleyball players and Frisbee tossers mingle with sun worshippers, windsurfers and skim boarders. For sand-free dips and swimming lessons, there’s a heated saltwater pool that’s open when weather permits. Also in the vicinity is the Boathouse Restaurant, which serves peel-and-eat shrimp, tasty chowders and fresh grilled fish on a patio with panoramic views."

The beach has soft sand, a chill vibe, and amazing views of the mountains and downtown Vancouver. It’s a great place to relax, play volleyball, or have a picnic with friends. On sunny days, the sunset is breathtaking

Why I love it here: • Classic Kits vibes: sweeping English Bay, majestic North Shore mountains, and vibrant energy on the sandy shore and grassy lawns . • Tons to do: volleyball, tennis, basketball, playgrounds, and paddle-board rentals — even a saltwater pool right next door (137 m!) . • Great amenities: clean washrooms and change rooms, snack shacks and the iconic Boathouse Grill, plus lifeguards and wheelchair access from late May to early September . Tips for planning: • Parking fills fast in summer — go early, or bike/bus along the seawall instead . • Weekdays are quieter; weekends pack in Hou. . • You can now enjoy a beer or wine on the beach between June and early September (11 am–9 pm) . Family & pet friendly: • Excellent playground and grassy picnic areas. • Designated off‑leash dog zone — just watch for picnics and friendly pups stealing your sandwich! . Heads‑up: • The ocean can be chilly, so the pool is a welcome warm alternative . • Some parts of the beach get rocky at low tide — beach shoes come in handy

It was super crowded, even though I didn’t go during a holiday or weekend. The water was very dirty, so I couldn’t even get in. There was also one of those rolled ice cream trucks, which looked nice, but the ice cream was watery and didn’t taste good at all. Overall, not a great experience.

i love this beach it’s amazing to be at during the summer to watch the sunset or just to be with your friends truly do visit when you come to vancouver promise you won’t regret it

Many places to sit, and a solid range of activities available in this beach. Overall enjoyed my time here!

Google
My favourite beach among all! The ocean, view of boats and mountains, and everyone is summer outfit already!

GREGORY WELLMAN

Google
Pretty, relaxed vibe, amenities, refreshing ocean swim, or heated outdoor pool, nearby to bars, cafes, coffees shops. Also there are local vendors selling ice cream, crepe etc. Great for families, beach volleyball, cycling, picnicking and just hanging out! Car parks and transit no problem except on very busy summer days (go early!)

Very tranquil, relaxing place for some peace in the city esp in winter when there’s less people and you have more space to yourself

Miho A.

Yelp
made a pit stop at a beach park, tennis activity available. in the summer the air seems to be a bit crisper so make sure to check the weather before heading there. pack an activity and meals to enjoy with your friends/family! public bathrooms available and pay to park.

Tiffany C.

Yelp
Best beach in Vancouver! I have spent many hours here, as it's my local beach. You can sit in the shade or sun and it's close to lots of great bars and eateries so you can have a lovely picnic too. My top tip is to get a pizza from nook and bring some wine, you'll have a great evening. finish with some Thai gelato from the truck! If you're coming during the day you can grab bahn mi from the natural grocery store and have a spicy lunch!

Jboogie L.

Yelp
We paid for parking in the lot. There were tennis players and people just lounging around because it was such a nice day (later on in the afternoon where the sun was shining). THere was a small playground area and a restaurant right along the beach.

Halei J.

Yelp
This park is ok, nice scenery and there is a pool nearby as well. This park gets extremely busy (hence the 3 stars) in the summer months. The parking lot is almost always full. Doesn't bother me cuz I'm always on my bike but if you wanna have a picnic or something and don't get here early it's gonna be hell finding parking. They have restrooms and a concession stand as well.

Renee R.

Yelp
This place is so busy especially in the evenings weekend or weekday. My kid loves the little park that's right by the water. It's on a grassy area which is nice to chill out with a blanket which is what me and my cuzzos did the whole time. As a kid we used to hang out and play when the tide was out. Jericho beach and Spanish banks are more family friendly beaches. Kits has become like a hangout spot for all the millennials. Night walks are really nice along the water. You can get down to Granville island in less than 20mins depending on your walking speed.

Viviann L.

Yelp
Nice beach and easy to walk along the sidewalk from the beach to residential area and back to the beach. Chill and clean. Lots of people but not too crowded. There's a outdoor swimming pool and night time free performance (7-9pm).

Soleil S.

Yelp
3.5 stars ... I think it's definitely a spot to check out when you're visiting the city but depending on when you arrive, you may not get to go into the water or enjoy all facilities. If anything, you may get frustrated just trying to find parking and give up before stepping into Kits. Beaches in Canada are not that common especially ones with a view of the mountains like this. There's no denying how scenic and beautiful it can be for a beach that has the mountain ranges in the backdrop and still see Stanley Park and city skylines. I was lucky to arrive on a weekend and enjoy the sun and blue skies... picture perfect. The park itself is quite clean with nice big paths to share with the 1000s of other visitors. Many people are taking selfies at every angle or showing off their newest yoga move on the grass. I thought that was just a Vancouver trope or bad meme but nope... every 2nd person is in their Lululemon here doing some sort of pose. It's interesting as it brings a bit of a zen but every girl is checking another girl out between poses. At least they're not blasting Despacito while screaming like they did in San Diego. The beach itself is quite rocky and I'll have to admit not so inviting looking... it was low tide and the water was out 30 ft away. All I saw was TONS of broken mussel pieces from the seagulls dropping them from above to break open the shells. This was not a place to be stepping with bare feet. Would I call it family friendly beach... not really. I mean, the place is great to bring family but to use the beach on kid bare feet... uh no. Besides, I would say 95% of the people enjoying the beach was just sunning themselves and never stepping into the water. Further on the north part, you'll find beach volleyball courts (a rec tournament was going on), public bathroom, playground, sea activity rental spot, and even an off leash dog park. There is a sea salt pool on the south side but it looked closed and filled with birds when I went. Not so inviting. The unfortunate thing about this is the traffic and parking insanity. Since it is so popular, you're fighting with nearly everyone for a parking spot. The traffic is already crawling so slowly but its made worse with everyone attempting to snag a spot and do a 70 point turn to parallel park. Frustrating... absolutely. I do recommend instead to park a few street south closer to 4th Ave and walk here. Even then, you're still fighting to find a spot. Another option that requires a bit more of a walk is to park near the Burrard Marina and walk along the shores to here. There was a lot of parking available over there. I can see this being a great spot to be when the sun sets or during the week when you dont have to fight through traffic to find your own spot. During the weekend, it's bit crazy and could marr the experience. I do feel it's worthwhile to check out. Just find your inner zen when looking for parking.

Ting A.

Yelp
A wide beach with good views! Rows of logs are available for seating if you just feel like relaxing. There's a decently sized playground for children too. Sadly there is a bit of litter dispersed throughout the beach. Adolescent seagulls were fighting over a sock and attempting to swallow it. If you have the time and energy, definitely walk north along the trail past the washrooms. Not only will the direction expose you to more gorgeous views of downtown with a mountainous background, but you'll encounter the Hadden Park Dog Beach as well as the picture-worthy Elsje Point & Kitsilano Seawall!

Denise W.

Yelp
This is one busy crazy beach especially in the summer time. Lots of people. Its nice to go for a walk. For all ages. Parking is a bit of a hit and miss. There are some along the street. There is also pay parking lot. Most of the people who come here are locals. there is the Boathouse restaurant beside the park as well, if you need food.

Sofie P.

Yelp
I went here twice last week on some very hot days. I was kinda worried that it might be crowded (i went before the work day was done but kids are off school), but there was more than enough room for everyone, and people were definitely 6 ft apart (as parties, there were groups of people that were definitely hanging together). I never felt like I was getting too close to anyone. And the water was AMAZING! Just chilly enough, and then just splendid. I love how any quick eats there are near the beach, too. I stopped in at Thai Basil around dinner time and there was no wait. All in all, it seems people are enjoying the weather outside but everyone has been pretty respectful.

Cindy K.

Yelp
Breathtaking views, fresh ocean breeze, easy to get there by bus. Starbuck, Pizza, Sushi, Thai, hamburger & fries. Nothing you need here any more.

Ashton M.

Yelp
This park has beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean. I went on a super-windy day, so the water was choppy. The beach itself was crowded, and I noticed a lot of peoples' trash in the sand.

Simon K.

Yelp
The only time I really come here is to watch the fireworks during the 'Celebration of Light', but was finally able to come through here in the daytime to see how this beach has changed over the years. I have to say that it is not as pretty as what it used to be. The sand is rough, almost gravel like in some areas. There seems to be more trash here now, as walking around, I noticed alot of litter, which is really unfortunate. Also the water quality, frankly was green and smelly. Maybe I was here a bad day of the summer. Other than the above, it is a pretty nice area to walk around. The houses around here are quite unique. The restaurant on the beach (Watermark) is a nice place to go to. And there are some pretty nice restaurants just across the street, from Hapa to Local, and of course a Starbucks for your crazed coffee fix. The parking situation is way better than going to English Bay, but be warned, the parking patrol is out, and you will be ticketed if you do not follow the signs, and after being ticketed you will be towed quite quick.

Kimberly P.

Yelp
Good things- It is beautiful, there is a nice playground for the kids beside the concession, the fries at the concession are very yummy, Kits pool is right there Not so good things- the parking fees are exorbitant, it is very, very busy on a hot day, the scene is well...not for me...attention seeking, self-indulgent, oiled-up twenty-something's with their tribal tattoos and pit-bulls...I'll pass and head on over to Spanish Banks or downtown to English Bay

Aimee M.

Yelp
Such a beautiful place! Amazing view of the bay, mountains and the city. It's amazing to have such a fantastic view while soaking up the sun. There's a nice cool breeze while you laze around. You can lay on the beach or up on the grassy areas. There are vendors down by the beach. A Starbucks and a restaurant/bar up by the road. I love all the logs you can perch yourself against or just lay your towel flat where ever there is space (there's lots space)! There is a place to play volleyball but I think you need to bring your own net. I didn't see anything but it is still early in the season so if they are provided, they just aren't up yet! There is also a couple courts for other sports. I believe I saw a tennis and basketball court. The bus also drops you off pretty much right in front of the beach entrance which is pretty awesome. I love this beach. Such a beautiful view, I really can't get over that! I will be here all summer long!

Linda M.

Yelp
I enjoy this beach! They even have a dog beach. I take the sea wall to this location while riding my back. Very beautiful in the summer time.

Elif Sezen İ.

Yelp
Just perfect! We come here like everyday and there is always a lot of things to do! I like the gelato man at the beach, too!

Jon L.

Yelp
Kitsilano is not like any of the beaches in California or Hawaii that I have visited. But it is comparatively good for a Pacific Northwest beach. There is actually a large area with sand. I would not call any land by the water as a beach. It needs to have a lot of sand by the water. I did not venture onto the sand though. I stayed in the grassy area of the park. In addition to the beach, there is a giant (Olympic-sized?) pool in the park. Unfortunately, it was closed and full of seabirds nesting on top of it. Parking is somewhat available. Was available to find a space on the street by the park. Though I think it might be more difficult to come by on warm and sunny days. For the neighborhood it is in, I think this is a great park to have. Kitsilano seems to be a pretty eclectic area and this place fits right in. It has a great view of downtown Vancouver and the West End. Though I found it to be so-so compared to all of the other beaches I have visited.

Esther Y.

Yelp
I think I'm spoiled by San Diego, Orange County, and Monterey/Carmel/Half Moon Bay beaches. How can you expect to find a beach like that in the north? So I won't be too harsh on Kitsilano Beach, but don't expect an awesome beach here if you're from California or Hawaii. That said, Kitsilano Beach is a pretty cool place to hang out and people watch...when I came there was a guy doing crazy balancing acts. That was kinda fun. Beautiful place to watch the sunset as well. And it's very close to some great restaurants.

Mahal D.

Yelp
Get your sun screen, sun glasses and your towel on, it's time to grab your beach tote and hit the beach this summer. First off you may want to come here during the week in the summer time because during the weekends it's packed and if you don't live in the area, you may want to bike or bus here because most of the parking around here is permit only with limited pay parking next to the Tennis courts. Yes there is a Tennis Court and a basketball court. Both are first come first serve. Kitsilano Beach is a summer necessity so you better hit the gym and start playing volleyball to get a spot on the beach. Or you can just walk around and people watch like I do. Plenty of eye candy in this part of town!

Nadine N.

Yelp
I love Kits Beach. Sure, it's nothing like the beaches I grew up with in Southern California, but you just can't beat the view of the mountains, West End and Stanley Park. Seriously gorgeous! It's probably my favourite view in the city. If you hate dogs you'll probably want to avoid Kits Beach. There is a designated section of dog beach, but plenty of people have their pooches off leash all over the place. Despite the sheer amount of dogs, the beach is pretty well kept. Kits Beach is a great place to people watch. If it's a sunny day in the winter, you can bet there will be lots of beach goers enjoying this beautiful beach.

Christian H.

Yelp
I needed a place to go to relax my mind, to relax my body, to renew my soul... But, where to go? I decided to take a 20 minute or so walk to Kits Beach and found myself in the perfect place. I sat on the bench and let the wind blow pass my body, blowing away the worries and stress in my being. I watched as the people walked by wondering who they were and thought, "I wonder what was their story?" I watched as the waves beat upon the sands of the beach. I watched as three dogs ran along the beach playing games as they ran from the beach to the water. I watched the bird fly just above the water and splash ever so gracefully onto the water. What a relaxing couple of hours. Note: I went on a mid-afternoon weekday, which was far less crowded. Take a light jacket as the wind can be quite cooling... And as always... Have Fun!!!

Roanna Z.

Yelp
We threw a couple of picnic blankets down on the grass in Hadden Park just up from the beach and sat half in the sun and with the shadows of the trees protecting us from any possible sun-burn. It was perfect! I took a walk on the beach and enjoyed the crunching gravel and crushed shell sounds underfoot, even with the perfect weather the beach wasn't crowded at all. I walked toward the Marine Museum and past to the dog off leash park. Twenty dogs were out there enjoying a doggy club med. Heavenly fur-family enjoying their freedom. I'd come back here with a picnic anytime! There are toilets nearby too.

Grant H.

Yelp
Considering, this beach is free, and beach parking $5/hour, its a great location and easy to access. I went 3 days in a row, and found someone leaving street parking. I like watching people with their pets, and small children. Like to see the young people enjoy volleyball in the sand. There is a kids playground, always busy. Why someone compares ultra expensive California beaches to Canada with GDP $10,000 compared to USA GDP $65,000. We have 250,000 people living on the street but you would not know it looking at the people who walk these beaches.

M C.

Yelp
This beach is a great to come for a walk and watch the sunset. There is a new playground installed by the new Boathouse restaurant. The swimming pool is the longest in Vancouver and is a salt water pool. The water in the pool is cleaned in the spring after being unused over winter. There is lots of grass areas and places to set up a BBQ. There is something for everyone here. In summer it can be very busy on hot sunny days and there can be garbage around which is expected with large crowds. It is convenient if you have no car as it is close to bus routes. If you have a car or bike then Spanish banks beach might be a better choice with better views and more space with less crowds. About the Park This very popular park boasts clean sand beaches, beautiful views of English Bay and downtown Vancouver, the fantastic Boathouse restaurant, and wide lawns perfect for throwing a Frisbee or relaxing in the sun. The sparkling salt waters of the heated outdoor pool are especially inviting, and the pool has the distinction of being Canada's longest at 137m. A playground is the park's newest feature. The city's largest fully accessible playground is a legacy of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and one of three showcase inclusive playgrounds built in the 2010 Winter Games host communities of Vancouver, Whistler and Richmond. New play opportunities such as sand play table, rotating climber, and saucer swings have been included to ensure universal access and encourage imaginative play, sensory experiences and fun for children of all ages and abilities. A wheelchair accessible surface also allows parents and caregivers with physical disabilities access to the playground. History Definitely a happening place geared for the younger set (teens to thirties) with a lovely outlook spanning from open bay, to North Shore mountains to Stanley Park. There are lots of activities here with something for everyone. This area was originally known as Greer's Beach, named for the pioneer who unsuccessfully challenged the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) take over of his homestead here in the 1890s. Later, private citizens raised the money to purchase the beach front land back from the CPR while the Park Board leased additional lots to create this popular park. Kitsilano Pool, Vancouver's largest draw and fill salt water pool was opened at the water's edge in 1931 and became an instant success. It was replaced in 1979 by an ocean side tank (about 150 meters at its outer most edge) which sports salt water and is heated. This is the park where old Engine #374, that in 1886 pulled the first transcontinental CPR train into Vancouver, resided for many decades on a piece of track on an old CPR right-of-way. The Engine was lovingly restored by train buffs in time for EXPO '86. The train now resides in a plexi-glass pavilion adjacent to the Roundhouse Community Centre.

Yelp
On a hot summer day, Kits Beach can be absolute madness and is almost not even worth getting near. By sundown, once the weather turns a bit cooler - or perhaps in the off-season - this long stretch of fine sand and the adjacent green park protecting it are a must if you're visiting the Vancouver area. For proximity to downtown and the best views of the city lights, this one has all the others beat! Nighttime patrols are common and you Will unfortunately get the boot by around eleven o'clock. Regardless, watching the sunset from Kits Beach with a discreetly placed bottle of wine makes for an unbeatable evening. Highlights of the park, other than the stellar and clean sandy beach, are the big Kitsilano public pool, the tennis courts, a children's playground, and walking trails. Nearby Hadden and Vanier Parks offer a dog beach, more trails, as well as the HR MacMillan Space Centre, the Pacific Space Centre, the Vancouver Academy of Music, the MacMillan Observatory, Museum of Vancouver, the Vancouver Archives, and more! From Kits Beach, a short walk will lead you to Elsje Point, a strip jutting out of the land with the best views in the area. The nearby Kitsilano neighbourhood offers numerous pubs and eateries for breakfast, lunch and dinner, while also serving as a distinct shopping district.

Tuyen T.

Yelp
It was cold on the day I came, but because it was Mother's Day, there was quite a few ppl here. I got lucky with parking. It smelled pretty strongly of ocean/seaweed.

Marje B.

Yelp
This beach is busy, touristy, parking is hard to find.. But I do like the dog beach park and the vball courts. It's ok, Vancouver has lots of great beaches this is not my fave.

Jes F.

Yelp
Love the memories I have of kits beach, walking out quite far and wading in the shallow shoreline. A great little beach front, with a few restaurants within walking distance. A great space to pack a picnic and lounge around for the day.

Robin M.

Yelp
Muscle-bound barbed wire tattoo-types love Kits Beach. Teeny-tiny dogs love Kits Beach. UBC students love Kits Beach. Attention-craving sunbathers love Kits Beach. I wouldn't say that I love Kits Beach. But it's got a nice view of English Bay, which I do love. And it's a beach within walking distance to private liquor stores, and has grassy picnic-ish options, so that makes Kits Beach a-okay with me.

Brian W.

Yelp
Ho ho ho Kits BEEEACCHHH! Kits is a fake beach, it's a man made beach and its fully commercialized. Kits beach means a lot more to me then most, probably because unlike most people I was born in Vancouver and have been going here my entire life. As a kid it was great for throwing sand at your kiddie friends, swimming out on the docks, they had a huge 20 foot water-slide at one point... Now the bay is so full of POO I dare not even put a foot in that water. As a teen we used to go there at night and do things your not supposed to. I used to play basketball there, and also beach volleyball. Note basketball has been dominated by black dudes from the USA. They drive all the way here to play ball on this court - crazy. Apparently this is why they also take the rims off the hoops - too much profanity for the neighbors. KitsFest just ran a bball tournament here for them all, so maybe they are welcome back. You can also play a bit of tennis, they have a bunch of courts - usually full. Kits beach is sorta stuck in the past, there are still hippies and posers, fruit tarts, mixed with mainstreams. A real interesting mix - only in the sun, no sun and the place is pretty dead, comparatively. The pool is a giant football size pool, laps and free-for all, shallow and deep, sort of an extension of the beach, lots of people just go here to tan in more privacy with a pool to fail around in. Bring a towel, chair, books etc. cooler. Kits is a good launch point for walks , its more or less the start of a walk to the real SeaWall if you wanna go that far around. Kits is all about convenience, a beach/walk/sports area on this side of the bridge, with some parking. Its better for young people, who want more of a meat-market, poser, show off kinda place in the summer. Winter and any other day its good for chilling out, sometimes BBQ in the grass, or sit on a log. The proximity means its less effort and more likely to get used then say Spanish Banks which is a trek out the highway. Kits can be the beach for 30 mins you want, nothing serious, just park and walk around for a bit. Easy. Fireworks night, Kits is packed - again its close and easy. On a global scale Kits is nothing, sorry, try the Turks and Caicos or Maui for what I call a beach. I am more likely to be wearing Pants at kits, and the sand is more of an urban ash-tray then a beach. Its like a backyard - sandbox for Vancouver. You party here, maybe watch some fireworks, hackie sack with drunken hippies, people watch some weirdos. It's hard to rate someplace which is more full of memories then the actual place has merit. I have had crazy epic adventures and rocking parties and amazing volleyball games.... My friend used to rent one of the houses across the street. We called it the SUPERPAD, threw a hottub in the front yard, and went crazy till 5am all summer on weekends. How can I give Kits anything less then 5 stars, as a beach it sucks, as the left arm of Vancouver, which draws you into its sandy depths with dirty street magic you cannot resist.

Crystal H.

Yelp
In the early morning (okay, 9 am), mid afternoon and just before sunset, and while the swarms of tourists and teenagers are still hibernating, Kits Beach is alright. Well, part of Kits Beach. The last time I sat on the grassy area parallel to Cornwall was 5 years ago. I remember the day very well. That's the day 24 Hour took a picture of me in a bikini and asked me what I thought about Reality TV (yes, I still have the article). But I digress. Whether the tide is out or in it's a picturesque place for a stroll and on a clear evening you can guarantee a beautiful sunset. Plus, just after the sun sets, a little stroll down the tree lined streets gives me just a glimpse into the beautiful homes that face west, what? If you don't want someone fantasizing about living there, close the blinds!

Hilda L.

Yelp
On my recent venture to this part of town, I noticed 2 things: 1) I don't see a lot of Asians.. it's rare for Asians to be a minority anywhere in Vancouver. 2) Everyone here is good looking. I mean, really good looking. They look like they are all models and just stepped out of a photoshoot. And everyone is showing quite a lot of skin. And they certainly have the bodies to do so. Needless to say, I feel a little inadequate to hang out here. But the eye candy sure is worth it. Excuse me while I go wipe my drool.

Andrea B.

Yelp
Kit beach is the mecca of people watching!!! In a matter of 60 minutes, I managed to see... - a couple make out while doing kama sutra moves (aka. straddling each other), - a good looking should-be couple chatting it up benchside, - 2 separate guys sitting under a tree strumming their guitar as if it were planned, - a Dumbledor look-alike, - and well, you get the point. Who needs TV when you got Kits beach to keep you entertained! There's a little something to satisfy everyone here: beach, grass, restaurant, swimming pool, etc. It has everything which also means there's tons of people...but good looking and fit people! Kits beach has a reputation for luring in the nice-to-look-at folk. Why? Because they're running and frolicking on the beach ALL THE TIME! Just be warned, once you step on Kits beach property...it's a free-for-all and 99.9% someone is people-watching you too. :)

Nano H.

Yelp
Anytime you are feeling down you can head on over to Kits Beach, then remember that you live in the best city in the world. Kit's beach is so beautiful on a gorgeous winter day LOCALS will come out of their condos/apartments/illegal basement suites to take pictures. Housing a huge grass field which doubles as a tanning salon/bocce tournament ground in the summer, turns into a great place for a snowball fight in the winter. For the physically active and fit it's a great place to run through, or go swimming in Kit's Pool. If you're getting a bit nippy, in the Summer you can go to Kit's pool to get a quick snack, or head on over to Watermark and pick up something a bit better. If sand is more your thing, all you have to do is head up a few more metres and you'll be facing the ocean and a whole lot of logs. If you enjoy Volleyball, there are a number of courts available during the summer as well (through registration I think). To top it all off...if you MUST bring your dog, you can just head down to the dog park about five minutes away and unleash Rover and have a fun time as well. All in all, Kits beach is breath taking any time of the year and is something any visitor to Vancouver, or any local who hasn't been should DEFINITELY check out.

Yelp
Great spot to get some sun, but not a great spot to relax. Too many bros running around 'tossing the pigskin' around, and girls parading around in skimpy bikinis to focus on the view or reading. I don't always wear sunglasses, but when I do, it's to perv on girls without them knowing I am.

Andrew Y.

Yelp
"Yeah...I like it when the girls stop by.. In the summer Do you remember, Do you remember? ...when we met..That summer?? New Kids On The block, had a bunch of hits Chinese food makes me sick. And I think it's fly when girls stop by for the summer, for the summer I like girls that wear Abercrombie and Fitch, I'd take her if I had one wish, But she's been gone since that summer.. Since that summer" Kits beach becomes the #1 hangout for Vancouverites, especially UBCers once the sun starts shining. Basically every weekday, weekend, people gather here to chillout and relax. In my opinion, this is the best beach in B.C. in terms of having fun. "Hip Hop Marmalade spic And span, Met you one summer and it all began You're the best girl that I ever did see, The great Larry Bird Jersey 33 When you take a sip you buzz like a hornet Billy Shakespeare wrote a whole bunch of sonnets Call me Willy Whistle cause I can't speak baby Something in your eyes went and drove me crazy Now I can't forget you and it makes me mad, Left one day and never came back Stayed all summer then went back home, Macauly Culkin wasn't Home Alone Fell deep in love, but now we ain't speaking Michael J Fox was Alex P Keaton When I met you I said my name was Rich You look like a girl from Abercrombie and Fitch" It's also been voted one of North America's beaches with the most attractive people. There's definitely a thriving singles scene here, with the volleyball, frisbess games going on and bars right across the street. It's in a very hipster area. So though you won't see girls actually wearing Abercrombie & Fitch, you are bound to see lots of cuties in lululemon or TNA just chillin' out and exercising. Of all the beaches in the area, this one has the best vibe. Spanish banks can be dead sometimes. Wreck beach attracts all the UBCers that want to get high, there's rarely any activity done there, and way too many naked old people. If you plan to just chill for 3 hours, and you're from UBC just bus to kits beach don't even bother with wreck.

Yelp
Hmm...I don't get the hate on for Kits Beach. I for one, have absolutely zero problems with shirtless hot men getting sweaty playing volleyball on the beach. So long as I get a prime watching spot on one of the benches. Hmm...I do hate the pay parking.

Yelp
Always beautiful. Great place to go beaching but it does get really busy specially on summer weekends. Even the grass area gets packed with hipsters, yogis and beach bods. There are volleyball nets, basketball and tennis courts, playground, and the kits pool. The kits pool is Vancouver's only saltwater swimming pool and it is heated. There are concession stands and the Boathouse Restaurant with a great view of the beach. There is a pay parking lot but also lots of street parking. Kits beach is great because it's so close to downtown and West 4th shopping and dining as well but it does get really busy, so sometimes it is better off to drive abit further to Spanish Banks.

Yelp
Who doesn't love Kits Beach? There's a bit of everything: grass, sand, logs, water, mountain views, a playground, a stage, restrooms, a jogging/bike path, vendors, basketball courts and an enormous swimming pool...I'm sure the kitchen sink is in there somewhere too. Its picturesque setting makes it one of my favorite places in Vancouver to chill out. Where else in the world can you sit at the ocean and view the city buildings with a gorgeous mountain backdrop? The people watching is great and Kits Beach comes alive at night with the city lights dancing on the water. Going there at night is good for the soul. The wind always seems to be blowing here. Take a jacket if it's not a warm sunny day. It's a very popular spot during the summer months and overcrowding is an issue. Coming from North Carolina, I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed with the "beach" aspect of things as there aren't really any waves here and the muddy, murky-like cold water seems stagnant. Swimming isn't comfortable because the water is so cold. It's just not what I'm used to and that's the only reason it's not a 5 star for me. Otherwise, Kits Beach has everything to offer and it's a great place. The grassy fields offer a perfect spread for picnics and if you're lucky enough to stake one out, there are some picnic tables. Our daughter enjoys searching for seashells and walking down the beach while looking for treasures is one of our favorite pastimes. The playground is awesome and it keeps our daughter occupied for hours. There are many things to do on the playground. Not far away are the basketball and sand volleyball courts. In addition, there are some pull-up bars and rings for those who would like a quick workout (by the basketball courts). There are two vendors that I'm aware of. One is located at the pool and the other is located underneath the Boathouse Restaurant. They sell things like ice cream, Popsicles and other various "carnival" foods and snacks. The public restrooms are located underneath the Boathouse. In addition, there are mini showers for spraying off sand. During the summer months, there are free presentations on the "showboat" (a stage above Kits pool) like musical concerts and or dancing. The swimming pool is ginormous and heated. Pool admission is reasonably priced. There's much to do and see at Kits Beach and I feel very fortunate to live only a short walking distance away.

Yelp
Kits Beach has that scungy feeling of the day after a party. This summer as I walked to work through the park I'd frequently have to step over pools of urine expelled by some bladder-bursting twerp onto the sidewalk, or side-step littered debris on the beach. Due to its popularity Kits is perhaps Vancouver's worst beach (although Sunset may be a challenger). It's not horrendous, but since Vancouverites are spoiled for choice when it comes to sandy shores we can pick and chose here. The logs are not a bad spot if you're waiting for a friend. But for a day at the beach enjoy the fresher breezes, nicer views, and fewer people at Spanish Banks. If, however, people-watching is your thing, Kitsilano is definitely a high traffic area.

Yelp
As beaches go, how can a person really complain about anything? Nothing makes me happier than sun, sand and ocean and Kits Beach satisfies in all of these areas. That being said, I have to be in the mood to lay my self down on Kits sandy beaches, mainly because it is always busy with people ready to be seen...and I just don't go to the beach to be seen anymore. I prefer to blend in and melt away to iPod tunes and sunshine, not the sounds of teens staging battles (this actually happened, amusing? yes. relaxing? no.) a few feet from my catatonic body. Now that I sound like an old fuddy duddy, I still adore going to the beach and Kits is no exception.

Yelp
Kits Lawn, everyones been here at some point... Ocean & mtn views next to the famous Kits Beach an the fresh water swimming pool, this popular stretch of grass is full of sun lovers bikinis, hairy chests & the smell of coconuts each and every sunny day.... Cool breeze off the ocean and great people watching, just needs free city wifi... Cafes, bars, great restaurants so easy to just hang out here. Its hard to find a free blade of grass during but peak times..

Yelp
I love this beach , it's clean water , swimming , family fun, volleyball and tons of open space! The choices of clean food , quick or sophisticated and reasonably prices contribute to the cosmopolitan feel and the good looking athletic people are clearly a threat to Kari C and her self righteous dufous hipster reviews-sorry just telling you like it is girl! The sun the sand ,the huge open spaces are what Vancouver families want. I enjoy the beach and the location to all great amenities every day of the year. Thai food across Cornwall is yummy to take down and sit and enjoy the various cultural going ones like Capoiera demos the swimming pool scene or the Festival of Lights - fireworks ! Best beach in Canada - I know I've been all across the nation and throughout USA , Asia, Europe and Africa.

Yelp
There's nothing like taking a stroll on Kits Beach on a cool winter day. When it's clear and bright, North Van seems like a stone's throw away. I like sitting on a log on the beach, watching people, enjoying the silence and occasional sounds from the waves. It's peaceful. Then there's the majestic view of the North Shore mountains and the calm waters of English Bay in front of me. *in awe* Then again, calmness is quite dependent on when you come visit. If you like it quiet, come on a weekday because Kits beach is full of folks and children during the weekends. I can't wait to be here in the summer!

Yelp
In terms of scenery this just might be one of the best beaches in Vancouver, nicely showing off this city's best assets - ocean, city, and mountains - all at once. A good place to go to lay out with friends, play volley ball, or go for a swim (in the pool though please, not the ocean, it's dirty here). Also ideal for a stroll one on of our hot summer nights. You may have to bring a dog to fit it, or be running along the beach. Really, next time you're there just watch....

Yelp
As a child, I wholly--and maybe naively--regarded Vancouver beaches with a high degree of satisfaction. Little did I know then that rocky beaches and cold water did not make for the most pleasant of beach experiences. Maybe this is why I am still very skeptical of Vancouver beach culture, more so now that I've been to places where the water is swimmable, clear and warm. Who knew such places existed? That said, I still enjoy going to Kits. It's the site of so many forgotten childhood memories and even more remembered ones. The view is beautiful and the atmosphere lovely.

Yelp
Hellooo summer, hellooo Kitsilano Beach! You will find everyone and everything here from the asian kids playing ultimate frisbee, to the cute girls tanning, to groups barbecuing, to volleyball. Simply put, you will find everything here. Kits has pretty decent views of downtown Vancouver and English Bay, while plenty of grassy and shady areas which makes it perfect for a picnic. For me, I find it is a bit too overcrowded and commercialized which is why I don't rate it higher. That being said, I always make sure to take my friends and family here when they come in from out of town.

Yelp
I was kinda caught of guard when I came here. I didn't expect to see a great beach. Nice to see in the summer, with it being busy and packed! Parking can be hard when it is during those weekends where everyone is there! But not a bad place to chill.
