"Founded in 1913, this famous botanical garden was the first in the world dedicated to its country’s own flora. The spectacular, 90-acre plant haven forms part of a nature reserve that borders Table Mountain National Park. Besides numerous gardens and forests—some of which you can traverse on high via the futuristic Boomslang (Tree Snake) walkway—Kirstenbosch has a greenhouse, a restaurant run by the popular Moyo group, and a nursery for green thumbs who want to take a piece of the garden home with them. Spend five minutes here and you'll realize why Kirstenbosch’s displays at the Chelsea Flower Show inLondonoften win gold."

"This is one of our favorite places in Cape Town: a beautiful, serene expanse on the slopes of Table Mountain, with more than 7,000 plant species, most of which are unique to this part of the world (keep an eye out for all kinds of proteas, birds of paradise, wild gardenia, and much more). Incredible stunning place, the most beautiful botanical garden we’ve ever seen (and we’ve seen many in different countries across the world). We could’ve spent hours and hours wandering here. It was a highlight of our entire time in Cape Town. Huge variety of plants and flowers, with the stunning mountainous backdrop. They even have some cool statues and artwork dispersed throughout and a couple cool dinosaur replicas.

Nestled against Table Mountain, it showcases South Africa's rich flora in beautifully maintained gardens. The Tree Canopy Walkway offers stunning views, and the peaceful ambiance is perfect for a picnic or nature walk. A must-visit Cape Town gem!

Absolutely breathtaking views. The garden is beautifully kept and certainly worth visiting. There is a lot to explore, with quite a bit of uphill and downhill walking, so comfortable footwear is a must. I was surprised in my visit to find that there are no rubbish bins in the gardens. The management team have signs put up which explain that this is to prevent pests like rats (which makes sense, I guess). But if you're visiting, just remember to either finish your snacks before entering, or be prepared to keep hold of your dirt until the end of your visit.

Came here with my wife as it was somewhere we wanted to visit. This is my second trip to Cape Town but never seen the garden before. Lots of nooks and crannies to explore with hidden sites and special areas like the treetop walkway and the dinosaur park. The botanicals and plants are amazing. There was a concert hall, imagine what the concerts would be like sitting here enjoying the music! Worth taking your time and using a map to explore the area. Be prepared for lots of walking but take your time and have plenty of benches and areas where you can sit and enjoy the magical atmosphere and taking the smells and the fresh breeze.

One of the best Botanical gardens in the world. It is well maintained with 100s of species of plants. The place is situated in the ranges of Table mountain and the background mountains makes it more like a wonderland. There is a lake in the center of the garden and is the best place where you can sit and have a picnic or just rejoice in the greenery and fresh air. A must visit place when you go to Cape Town. The easiest way to reach here is to take the city sightseeing tour bus and there is an option to buy tickets online.

Beautiful botanical garden with a variety of ecosystems and their associated plants. Some areas are rustic where you will encounter stones and roots and are safer wearing runners while other areas are paved with benches and huts. We had a lovely lunch at Fynkos restaurant under a huge umbrella inside the garden at gate 2 after a two hour wander. Very informative trip.
