"Ladyhawk, one of Los Angeles’s most talked about eastern Mediterranean spots, is welcoming brunch-goers on Saturdays and Sundays. The Ladyhawk brunch platter is perfect for sharing and includes akawi and string cheeses, labneh, black olives, tomatoes, cucumber, makdous (oil-cured eggplant), honeycomb, and two eggs any style." - Eater Staff
"Lebanese-born chef Charbel Hayek incorporates California produce into Mediterranean fare at Ladyhawk, which opened in West Hollywood in late 2023. Mezze is the star of the menu. A recent transplant to LA, the chef reimagined Ladyhawk’s stunning two-person mezze platter with riffs like an avocado and corn hummus served next to a remarkably creamy traditional version. The array of mezze also includes baba ghanouj, muhammara, falafel, Lebanese olives, halloumi with summer tomatoes, spicy harissa wings, and something called “mama ghanouj” made with confit onions, charred zucchini, and lamb chorizo ragu. Another menu charmer is the ahi tuna crudo, an artfully presented dish that won Hayek first place on Season 2 of Top Chef Middle East in 2022. That crudo, along with herby and heaping salads, a dry-aged Rohan duck with honey and rose water, and a braised beef tagine are more of what makes this restaurant tucked inside the Kimpton La Peer Hotel one of Southern California’s newer standouts. — Mona Holmes, reporter" - Eater Staff
"In 2023, chef Charbel Hayek opened a dazzling Lebanese-inspired menu that fits perfectly into the Kimpton La Peer hotel. His personal touches make Ladyhawk one of West Hollywood’s new hottest restaurants. Everything is family-style with some of his mother’s recipes appearing on the menu with the fattoush salad, hummus, chicken, and tabbouli. The mezze platter with falafel, baba ghanoush, labneh, marinated olives, and tahini with fried cauliflower can easily feed two. They should be eaten right away with the piping hot pita bread fermented for 48 hours." - Eater Staff
"While West Hollywood may be better known for its bars than its restaurants, Ladyhawk from Top Chef Middle East winner Charbel Hayek is making a case for the city. The restaurant, which is in the upscale Kimpton La Peer Hotel, serves a menu that leans into Hayek’s Lebanese roots with a full mezze spread available, plus a shawarma skirt steak, seared halloumi, and za’atar man’oushe." - Eater Staff, Rebecca Roland
"This West Hollywood hangout confirms that boutique group Kimpton has the design chops to rival the NoMads and Firmdales of the hotel world. In large part that is down to the bold aesthetic of the interiors by Gulla Jónsdóttir, a West Hollywood resident who channeled the lava fields and waterfalls of her native Iceland with a frosty grey-and-black palette in the guest rooms and lobby, with leather walls, bulbous light fixtures, and a collection of Saba sofas. Bright blooms from star florist Eric Buterbaugh undercut the heaviness of it all. Things perk up outdoors, where a sun-flooded bar that’s already a hit with the cool kids of West Hollywood wraps around the small swimming pool. Artworks from graffiti pieces by Retna to a topographical installation of the city are on display behind the front desk. Even the walls of the elevator are covered in floral murals by Japanese graphic artist and Apple collaborator Kahori Maki. Staff may let you ride it all the way to the top to peek at Jónsdóttir’s nature-inspired wood, metal and stone furniture in the 1,400-square-foot penthouse. As West Hollywood continues its reinvention as a design district, Kimpton La Peer is a worthy anchor of it all." - Krista Simmons, Celeste Moure
