Kex Hostel Reykjavik

I was in a 42 bed room and everything worked out because people respect the function as a place to rest. Beds are comfotable for a hostel dorm with stack beds. The idea to divide the room in compartments is amazing! It really works. The breakfast is awesome (though I can't afford it every day)! The staff is very kind and caring. Thanks for an affordable place to stay with ocean view:)

This by far was my favourite because the beds were most comfortable, slept very well, the staff were super helpful and friendly. The place was so nicely decorated, with a lovely trendy vibe to it. Made wonderful friends in the dining area/kitchen. Great value for money, in a good location, 10 minutes walk to the main central area of downtown but away from the noise. Only noise from the building work but it didn't bother me as I was out on tours all day. Highly recommended.

I'm not sure where to start. The first thing that really did not go over well with me and Kex is that they do not notify you when booking that there is constructing going on. It was very loud and hard to sleep. Number two; the restrooms smelled bad the entire time and did not look like they were really cleaned. O honestly felt like I was walking into a scene from a saw walking into those restrooms. Lighting was not good, again the smell, toilets barely flushed. Third, there were what appeared to be blood stains on the mattresses. I didn't have any hydrogen peroxide to test but if I did, I'm sure it would have indicated blood. This is a place that I would not stay at again. Given the totality of the visit including the stay this makes me not want to come back to Iceland.

There’s a peculiar democracy in a 42-bed dormitory, the kind you find at Kex Guesthouse in Reykjavik—a former biscuit factory turned social hub, where $35 gets you a bunk and a front-row seat to the choreography of strangers. My first time sharing a room with forty-one others was less chaotic than expected, the city’s hush filtering in. The WiFi was a steady 40/40, the rate was good for Reykjavik, and I show it all in my videos: the beds, the buzz, the quiet proximity of unfamiliar dreams.

Stayed here on a recent trip and loved it! Very clean facilities, great kitchen with fridge, stove, oven, and dishwasher. Everyone I met with was friendly and the bar area on the first floor was beautiful, just renovated when I arrived!

The value and location of the hostel are very appealing. I included a picture of the kitchen which was always clean and ready for use. I appreciate the coolers to store your food. The breakfast was pleasant.

Loved my stay with KEX. Worth it if you are wanting to save on some money and have a place to sleep. I stayed in both the 8 bed dorm and the 42 dorm. I will recommend the 8 person for extra price especially if you are wanting a good night sleep and feeling under the weather. Staff are incredibly helpful. Will be staying with you guys again

The showers and the kitchen sink were extremely moldy, which is obviously very unhealthy for staff and guests to be around. Everything else seemed decently clean but it makes you wonder what else is not being cleaned well. The mold is the only thing I can really complain about, but to me this was a big issue.
