It's truly sad that there aren't more reviews for this unbelievably well-curated bookstore, run by a prince of a man. The owner helped me get a cantankerous author I deeply love to sign a book for a friend of mine, and then, without telling me, had one signed for me as well. I damn near cried.
Then, when the same cantankerous author I loved held a book signing, he refused to sell me another rare book of the author's, saying that he wanted everyone to have the opportunity to get a prized signed book. And then, at the end of the signing, satisfied that he would have an extra copy of that second rare book, he allowed me to purchase it.
But wait, there's more! I spotted another rare set of magazines I wanted, and he quoted me a more than fair price, but one I couldn't afford because of the beating my wallet had just taken purchasing the other books. He offered me the display copies that had taken a mild beating at a discount that pushed them into the realm of affordability, allowing himself to be rid of those display copies, and allowing me the opportunity to own the Provoke magazine reprints.
In summation, I have never seen a bookstore owner so committed to being kind, fearless, and useful -- and also democratic. This guy wants to be successful, but it's more important to him to be great, to be useful, and to blow people's minds. It's on all of us to make him successful. Go browsing, be left in awe, and open your wallet.
