"Black Sand Beach at Kamari - Santorini, Greece Everyone goes to Santorini for the famous sunset in Oia. However, the moonlight at the black sand beach in Kamari is worth going as well. Plus, along the beach are shops, bars and restaurants one after another. Most of them are outdoor, so you can enjoy your favorite drink while enjoy the ocean under the moonlight. By Shan Shan"

Overcrowded, rocky, and windy We visited Kamari Beach during our stay on Santorini in August 2025. It was so crowded that we couldn’t get a lounger or umbrella from any of the rentals, even at their crazy price of €30-40 per lounger. We ended up on the public section with no shade or loungers at all. The beach is a mix of pebbles and black sand, with rocks both on the shore and in the water, some of them slippery. It was also quite windy during our visit. On the upside, the beach is very close to the Santorini airport, so we got some great close-up views of landing planes. Overall, we were unimpressed with Kamari Beach and found Perivolos Beach to be much nicer, quieter, and far more pleasant.

This part of the island is on the east side and it is very quite and peaceful compared to more popular regions like Oia an Fira. In my opinion, it is a very nice spot to watch sun rise in the morning. And it is more relaxing if that is what you are expecting from a holiday. The beach is not very crowded which I think is because of being stony and wavy. The other negative point can be the noise of the airplanes. The beach is just below the landing route of the airplanes and it might be somewhat disturbing especially during late evening.

Really cool volcanic beach. Pebbles instead of sand that are all dark (and scorching hot in July). Tons of umbrellas and chairs for rent and some beach restaurants will even give you them for free if you eat/drink with them. Water is clear but was choppy when we were there. Overall really good experience.

Our hotel was a few minutes walk from Kamari Beach. The beach itself is black/shingle, well known for the area. I would recommend beach shoes are worn, especially when entering the sea, to make it easier for you. Lots of sunbeds on the beach, which are tied to hotels/restaurants. We sat on some offered free, providing you purchase some drinks from them. Lots of restaurants, cafes, bars along the promenade as well.

Great beach with black shingle and warm water sea that does shelf off pretty quickly. Endless restaurants and bars to choose from with most offering free sunbeds as long as you buy food or drink. We chose to go further up by Apollo beach shop to the lovely gentleman with the yellow beds for €15 for 2 beds, parasol and table. He will show you where the toilets are and cheap beer rather than paying beach club prices. Reason being is you can move these beds around during the day and the free ones are fixed and can't be moved

This beach gives all the vibes you can ask for. Beautiful beach after taking a dip you can relax have something to eat, have a couple beverages, watch the planes come over. There are souvenir shop and shops alike to purchase what you fancy on the promenade

Black sand with lots of pebbles, rocks and stone, we visited early October and the water was cold. Plenty of shops and restaurants to shop and eat.

Black sand beach, very hot, so hot, they had to cut out a little boardwalk for you to walk on different than what I'm used to white sand beaches in Florida, but I have to say it was pretty cool. Seeing Volcano Rock On the beach, crystal Clearwater, lots of amenities, right? Behind all of the umbrellas. One thing, I will say, be careful when you put your hands in the water. You don't know what you're grabbing. I still have a little cut on my finger
