JW Marriott Guanacaste Resort & Spa

We absolutely loved our stay at this Marriott! The location is beautiful and the staff is amazing. Especially Daniela at the lobby and Maylon at the pimento restaurant! The staff at the bar pool also were amazing. The hotel itself is so pretty!! Also it is not too big not too small just perfect. The beach is beautiful and the pool as well! The food was great too. Highly recommend this hotel.

I had an exceptional stay. The balcony views, the pool, and the beachside location are the main stars of the show. The ice cream at the shop was delicious. Breakfast was also very tasty. The food overall could use some elevating to compete with other hotels’ selections in the same price range.

We stayed at the JW Marriott Guanacaste for our 40th wedding anniversary. The entire visit was spectacular! Front desk staff was outstanding and attentive. Every employee we had contact with was extremely accommodating and polite. I took the water aerobics class with Eli, and the bike tour. We enjoyed the coffee class, and the cooking class. We had an ocean front room near the beach and was certainly worth the upgrade. When we checked into our room, there was heart shaped balloons, and a tray of beautifully decorated chocolate covered strawberries. Also at dinner, at the Pimento, the dessert chef came out and presented us with more chocolate decorated strawberries, along with the supervisor and server to wish us a happy anniversary. Finally, one of the highlights was at breakfast. I was told to ask for a coffee served "Costa Rican Style." When I asked for this, Manfred prepared this special coffee in front of us while I filmed it. It was quite the production, and the coffee tasted even better. When he finished, he said he prepared it with love. so very special.

The staff are so friendly and helpful! The service was pretty prompt at the restaurants and the grounds are very clean and well-kept. The pool is amazing and the view of the beach is beautiful, especially after sunset. We booked excursions through the hotel tour desk and everything was great! We definitely want to return!!

This is a wonderful hotel with a world class very large and beautiful meandering infinity pool with great ocean views. One thing you need to know is that this hotel is a 30 minute drive from the nearest town. So if you want to have short walks to shopping and numerous restaurants etc do not stay here. The hotel does have four major restaurants, a sports bar and two pool side grills so there are multiple dining options on sight. ||The facility and grounds of the hotel are stunning and meticulously maintained. It is an elegant Spanish themed design with beautiful stone and tile accents and lush tropical landscaping including fragrant flowers and a host of Costa Rica's over 900 bird species.||There are all manner of tour options that will pick you up at the hotel but you need to make the reservations at least the day before.| |I recommended that you fly into the airport in Liberia with the option of either renting a car or taking a shuttle. The airport is an hour and half drive from the airport. Shuttle rides to and from the airport are $100 and up. After much research I rented a car. Driving in Costa Rica is similar to but also very different from the States. Signs are in Spanish and there are very very few traffic lights. Driving in Costa Rica requires intense focus at all times for multiple reasons. (Google driving in Costa Rica) Also don't even think about getting behind a wheel after having even one drink.

CAUTION: THE STAFF WILL STEAL VALUABLES!!!!! DO NOT TRUST THIS HOTEL. I accidentally left a ring and necklace and I know EXACTLY where I left it. I called in less than 2 hours after check out, and OF COURSE, they couldn't find either items. OF COURSE. I wouldn't trust them even if you just leave your room for a bit because the maids completely disregard the do not disturb signs and walked fully in on me TWICE while I was sleeping. It takes forever to get to this hotel and the roads are absolutely awful. The food options are limited and EXPENSIVE. The rooms are decent, that is the only saving grace. There are basically zero places to eat in air conditioning unless you make a reservation. The pools are nice. The rooms are decent but old.

Very remote resort, prices are ridiculous, closest town is 30 minutes away, shuttle service to the closest town is $36.00 round trip, which is ridiculous, for Costa Rica. The room entertainment/TV programming is terrible with old shows and TV guide with the same programming daily. You cannot really enjoy the culture, unless you rent a car or go to the super overpriced tours that the resort offers. One toston or patacon is one dollar per piece; WHAT A RIP OFF!! The photo of the small dish was 27.00 US dollars. No resort activities worthy Boring resort! You feel sequestered. Do not recommend.

This place is very special to me. When i come here. Is the definition of Paradise. The pool, the beach, the families, beautiful sunsets across the ocean. Plenty of fun activities to do and sign up for. This place will always hold a special place in my heart. With that said. My only complaint is that the service at the Sand bar is not good. If you don't mind waiting for 45 minutes to receive a plate of Nachos and have your server never come check on you or refill water or drinks. This was the second chance I gave them. I will never be returning to the Sand Bar for service again. Best employees at this resort. #1 Eli ,#2 is a tie Luis, and Eder. My family and I truly appreciated there service 🙏
