"This property opened in March 2011 under the direction of Arata Isozaki, the mind behind the design of Barcelona’s Olympic Stadium and the Los Angeles MOCA. The hotel’s shape represents the ancient Chinese ritual object called y u cong. The outer square symbolizes the earth, the inner circle heaven, and the cylindrical atrium a connecting passageway. Drawing on Piet Mondrian’s neoplasticism movement, the facade mixes bold primary colors and rectangular shapes, while interiors were styled by KCA International, whose portfolio also includes the Burj al Arab in Dubai. Room design veers toward contemporary Chinese."

This hotel is very near to Shanghai New International Exhibition Center SNIEC. Outside and opposite side are Subway stations. This is very conveniently located hotel for those who are visiting SNIEC Expo. It is my third fourth time staying at Jumeirah Himalayas, but this time the hotel was only Himalayas and Covid has broken many bonds. The hotel staff was very nice. The reception staff spoke good English, but rest of the staff was purely Chinese speaking. The breakfast was with many options, luckily there was a good portion of English breakfast. The concierge and Gym staff were exceptional. Overall a great visit after 6 years. Rooms are spacious and cleanliness is very good. Outside views are good, but hotel with inside views also have a good central view in morning. There is a executive lounge for Club rooms guest, otherwise RMB 400 is charged per person, it is on 21st floor with great view.

Finally found a relatively quiet hotel near Century Park! Stayed in a Premier room (with windows onto the central circular courtyard) which was almost like a small suite. The biggest advantage we found over the neighbouring Kerry Hotel was that there was much less disruption of our sleep by neighbouring customers letting doors slam, when we were trying to get much-needed sleep after travelling. The room wasn't very modern, very much an older 'angular dark wood surfaces, no carpet' style, but was very clean and comfortable nonetheless and the AC worked just fine. Was encouraged to see other non-Chinese staying at the hotel. Breakfast was good, with a reasonable number of Western options. We initially found it quite difficult to get the extra pillows we requested, but our persistence paid off. The English comprehension level of the desk staff generally was only moderate, but the concierge and the lady running the excellent hotel gym understood us perfectly.

The room is very big. All the facilities is clean and well prepared. The location is a bit far from shopping street, but easy if you will attend the expo because it just in the opposite side

My stay was marred by a constant stale odor and a poorly functioning air conditioner. The hotel clearly needs extensive renovations and looks like it has seen better days. I had to change rooms twice because of the strong odors. The only redeeming feature was its close proximity to the exhibition.

Staff were very rude. Hotel is dated. Room was 27 degrees (by thermostat) and was told that the main aircon was off as it’s cold outside. Offered a fan. Only stay here for location.

The most unwelcoming and rundown Jumeirah anyone could imagine. Rooms are full with mold and aged, reception hall is not heated, everyone wearing warm jackets, breakfast room the same, only the reception staff and the bell boy kind off speaks some English. Breakfast buffet is bad, barely replenished, no one cares or remove any rubbish. Asking for a cafe latte results in no understanding or one get told that they don’t have it. This place is only convenient to walk to the exhibition center, doesn’t deserve 5 stars. One extra credit for the good gym facilities.
