"A Mountaintop Moment in the UAE I've heard there is a nice shawarma stand at the top of Jebel Hafeet to go along with the view, but on my trip up the mountain, it was so busy with Eid celebrations, that I had to drive straight down again without finding any parking! On the United Arab Emirates border with Oman, just outside the city of Al Ain in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, are a series of jagged rocky hills. One such outcropping is Jebel Hafeet - the highest point in the UAE. The 1,249-meter mountain is a popular place to visit, barbecue, or just enjoy the scenery. A nicely paved road to the top is quite fun to negotiate by car. The mountain road is also a challenge for bicyclists who can climb the curves, switchbacks, and steep incline. Hikers, too, can find a route or two up the mountain. For those wanting to spend the night, the Mercure Grand Jebel Hafeet Al Ain Hotel provides a comfortable four-star environment where you can be close to the stars at night and the sunrise at dawn."

Six Best Day Trips from Abu Dhabi | Condé Nast Traveler

"Jebel Hafeet, the mountain that stands guard over the city and stretches to the border of Oman. From its 4,000-foot-high summit, visitors are afforded incredible views of the city below, while at the base lies burial chambers that date back 5,000 years."

Jebel Hafeet is a very good place with a nice cold climate, especially at night. It’s one of the best spots for camping and enjoying nature, fresh air, and beautiful views. The only problem is that the washrooms close early before 12 AM and open only at 9 AM. This creates a big issue for people who stay overnight for camping. Apart from this issue, it’s an excellent place to visit and relax.

Fantastic place! It was around 7°C when we visited, which was a pleasant surprise. We went at night, and the road and night lighting made the drive very enjoyable. The view from the top is absolutely stunning, especially at night. However, we didn’t notice any public washrooms—not sure if they are available. There is a restaurant on the way, but it is quite expensive. Overall, a must-visit spot, especially for the night view and cool weather.

Visited Jebel Hafeet in October and really enjoyed the trip. The weather was very pleasant — cool breeze, clear blue skies, and the views from the top were absolutely stunning. The drive up the mountain itself is smooth and scenic, with plenty of photo spots along the way. However, the only downside was that the public restrooms were closed during the day and only opened after 4 PM, which was quite inconvenient for visitors. Other than that, it’s a perfect place to relax, enjoy the view, and spend some peaceful time away from the city. Highly recommended for a short day trip or evening drive, especially during the cooler months.

The moment you enter the Alain border you can see the stunning view of Jabal Hafeet! It is totally beautiful from the top and from the road. Go a little early to catch the Sunrise! There is mosque at the base of the mountain! It is very neat and clean out there! The only one problem I faced was the lack of cleanliness of the rest area. Hope it’ll get better soon. Enjoy the city lights and beautiful sunrise 🫶✨ It’s more beautiful when there is clouds!

Jebel Hafeet is truly one of the most stunning natural landmarks I’ve visited. The drive up the mountain is absolutely beautiful, with winding roads surrounded by different formations of rock and panoramic views at every turn. Once you reach the top, the view is simply breathtaking, you can see the vast desert stretching out below and the city of Al Ain. It’s the perfect spot for photography, a relaxing drive, or simply appreciating nature’s beauty. Prepered time to go during winter season to avoid heat of the sun😅😅 Highly recommend visiting Jebel Hafeet if you want to experience one of the UAE’s most scenic and peaceful spots. A must see destination! 🌄
