Jayeondo Sogeumppang (Salt Bread) in Seongsu

It comes with four pieces, nicely packed in a bag. The line moves very fast with two kiosks where you place and pay for your order, then walk to the other side where your bag is ready for pickup. The bread is soft and pillowy on the inside, with a perfectly crunchy exterior. The salt level is just right, and the butter… omg, so good. One of the best salt breads I’ve had—definitely worth the wait.

Famous Seongsu salt bread. There are 2 queues - one to pay in cash, and the other credit card. Go for the queue in cash - it’s faster. The quality of the bread is good. It is also very fresh! Worth the time queueing up! Highly recommended! Thumbs up!

The hype around the salt bread in Korea is totally justified. It’s incredibly buttery with a beautifully crisp outside and soft, fluffy inside. The aroma alone is enough to draw you in — rich, warm, and irresistible. Every bite is full of flavor without being too heavy. Easily one of the best pastries I’ve had. Don’t miss it if you’re in Korea!

Famed bread bakery. 91/100 It’s a store front that sells takeaway breads. Not for dining in. Gotta buy 4 in one go. Value is high, cost is low and the bread is uniquely tasty, try at least once to find out. It’s like a cross between a croissant and and regular non-layered bread but the taste is not like either, it’s also not overbearing. Seems like it usually has long queues, 15-20mins wait time in my case. Not a great experience if you have to queue in the cold but the payoff is not bad.

Absolute must try if you’re in Seongsu. You’ll know you’re nearby once you smell the intense, inviting aroma of freshly baked bread. The bakery truly smells divine and irresistible. I came around 10 in the morning and it was raining, so it wasn’t super busy, and I only waited about 15 minutes. The only available item is the four pack of salt bread. The bread was so warm, soft, buttery, salty, and crispy on the outside, and it simply tasted like it was made with love. This is a phenomenal pastry that is completely worth the hype!!

We were lucky to have arrived at a time where there was a very short queue. You order via a touch screen at the front of the shop - bear in mind that they only come in packs of four. The salt bread itself tasted just ok - a cross between a pretzel/white bread/croissant. Worth trying for interest/curiosity but I would not order it again.

Quick and efficient. My experience there at high foot traffic Friday noon, line for pickup moved fast; happily snacked on our salt bread in the middle of a busy Seongsu shopping day. Would recommend!

I finally got to try the famous salted bread at Jayeondo in Seoul, and it definitely lived up to the hype. The outside is perfectly crispy with just the right golden crunch, while the inside stays soft and fluffy. The flavor balance is spot on – not overly salty, but seasoned just right so that each bite feels indulgent yet satisfying. Simple, but done to perfection. A must-try if you’re in Seoul and looking for a bakery treat that nails both texture and taste.
