The stall owners inside the bazaar are so agressive and it knocked down the experience. For amount of product, they get a 3.5. For vendors aggressiveness in wanting to make a sale, they get a 1.
I have been to many night markets, retail shops, etc. around Hong Kong, but it was only here that I felt they were so extremely aggressive. So just know that if you go, you kind of need to understand it is OK to be firm and say "NO"...because I was approached by none short of 30 stall vendors while walking this jade bazaar. And they will get right up to you and try to stear you towards their stall. I am sure because I am cacasian, I stick out as a retail target, but just know quality of the market vendors before you go. So much product and quick aggressive vendors make it tough to stop, look and take it all in.
There are two buildings that comprise this bazaar and they are easy to spot once you are in this area. They are two one story, red buildings that are side by side (more like shacks!). One is larger than the other, but they have the same stuff.
There is a ton of jade product...a lot of jewelry, pendants, necklaces, pearls, trinkets, etc. I am not a gemologist, but I do love and buy jewelry, and this is more cosmetic or "jade stones" versus the real deal of jade in my opinion....because the reality of real deal jade is that they would not have to be so pushy if it was the real deal. Lots or jade bracelets! Tons of them. You can tell some real jade is being sold, but I feel like this is exception and not the rule with this market. Maybe a place to get jade trinkets for gifts for friends back home or something.
Just know what you are getting yourself into...or bring your friend the gemologist who does not mind pushy, aggessive vendors.
