InterContinental Hanoi Westlake

"Sublime settings among city hotels are rare, and none outdoes this site: Overlooking the 800-year-old Golden Lotus Pagoda on Hanoi’s largest lake, it is ten minutes by car from the city’s hip historic center (an excellent city map is presented along with your room key). The 359 stylish guest rooms have headboards crafted from intricate hill tribe textiles, funky birdcage-inspired bedside lamps, and bathrooms equipped with powerful showers and double sinks. Most standard rooms have lake views; on the downside, they suffer from thin walls that fail to block out occasional hallway noise. The three on-site restaurants and bars will more than satisfy anyone too rushed to explore Hanoi’s rich and diverse dining scene. Café du Lac stands out here for authentic French brasserie fare, as does the Sunset Bar, poised on its own island in the lake and accessible by a romantic torch-lit bridge."

"Known locally as Ho Tay and situated just northwest of the Old Quarter, the city’s largest lake is the backdrop to this whitewashed hotel, whose layout fittingly mimics the shape of the open lotus flowers that line its shores. The main building houses about half the rooms, most of the lounges and restaurants, and a bright atrium lobby with an elegant 23-foot crystal chandelier for a focal point.Lit at night by torches, a hedge-trimmed walkway leads to a small island where you’ll find the Sunset Bar (no surprises on the name), as well as threepavilions with additional rooms built on the lake. Accommodations start at a generous 460 square feet and feature contemporary furnishings, marble and wood floors, stone wall accents, and Vietnamese timber shutters, as well as roomy soaking tubs, padded leather headboards, and private balconies with views of the lake or Hanoi ’s skyline."

We stayed in this room for our honeymoon and the staff went above and beyond. Everybody was incredibly helpful and always had service with a smile. The breakfast selection was huge and all very high quality food and drinks. Room service was fast and very polite. The rooms are beautiful and clean. There is a lot provided in the rooms and everything feels very well thought of. The staff is always willing to help or answer any questions or concerns you might have. If I could give them an 11 out of 10 rating I would without hesitation

A perfect place to relax, chill, and enjoy a good breakfast over the lake. I booked this hotel at the end of my trip, as I got too tired on a 12-day-long trip; every minute I stayed at this hotel was worth it. It's quite far from the old quarters, with not many options for restaurants around. The staff was very polite and helpful. Overall, I would recommend this hotel for anyone who would like to relax at the end of the trip to get rejuvenated.

The restaurant for breakfast provides a wide range of food to meet the needs of customers coming from around the globe. The variety of food includes Vietnamese, Korean, Chinese, Indian, Japanese... One can hardly try all in just a morning. ||The crew provides excellent services to ensure every customer's satisfaction. On the first day of our stay, we voiced about that the beacon should be tenderer so that it's easy to chew. The next morning, we were provided with a dish specifically cooked for us; the tenderness of the beacon was just right. We highly appreciate the help of NHU, the lady in black suit, to kindly arrange this. She's really considerate and understanding. ||This is a marvelous hotel with warm hospitality.

Large and lush resort on the lake. A little out the way from the Old and French quarters but that was nice for the end of our trip. It’s quiet. The pool is gorgeous. We had an over water room too. The hotel technology is old, TV and phone etc. Also the room air con didn’t get very cold. Breakfast buffet was very good with something for every taste.

We visited with family and kids in June 2025. Hotel is very well located. Staff is very gentle and polite. We were upgraded to Family suite. Breakfast buffet is very good and vast. Had Indian vegetarian options also. We are highly impressed by the service in restaurant. Rooms were clean and good. Sunset cafe is excellent.

I honestly had such a lovely experience staying at this hotel. From the moment I walked in, I felt genuinely welcomed. The staff were warm, kind, and always ready to help with anything I needed. My room was super cozy, clean, and had such a peaceful vibe that made it easy to relax after a long day. The Vietnamese food is amazing, so rich in flavours and everything fresh. The breakfast is spectacular!! And the service is incredible!! This place left me with such good memories. I’d definitely come back and recommend it to anyone looking for a stay that feels both special and genuine.

I had good time with my business trip at Intercontinental Westlake. I had early fight to NoiBai and tried to check in early . I was supper happy that the room was ready and staff were very helpful in supporting me upon arrival . The room was so nice floating on the most beautiful lake i didn't have experience like this before . I really loved place and it was so private . Entering to restaurant for breakfast meal .. so warm welcoming from the staffs at entrance to table. I was recommended coffee and tea. I loved Vietnamese coffee here - so good taste . Huge buffet selection with all Hanoi traditional foods - Pho was the best...chef always smiled and brought food for me ( Pho & Omelet) even the buffet style. Restaurant Manager and staff were looking after me so well during breakfast period. On top of that I had good chance to meet Mr Venkat Sundaram - Hotel manager. He was so kind person come to check my stay and gave alot of tips for guest specially who has first visit Hanoi. He was very professional in customer service . I was happy with my holiday and definitely come back this hotel soon. Really good vacation in Hanoi !

During our trip across Vietnam, we had an opportunity to stay four nights in this hotel. The choice for this specific place is in a great location and has high ratings. The resort is away from the hustle and noise of the big city, in a beautiful location on the lake. We were hoping for a restful stay delivered with some quirks. There are several things I need to praise this hotel for; - The staff is very professional, helpful, and kind. All the staff we encountered were proficient in English, making the communication very smooth. Kudos to the hotel staff! - The room was spacious and spotless. As the hotel is almost 20 years old, it has been designed since then, and this is expected in the ambiance instead of the modern design As mentioned above, the resort has a great location and maintains a very low level of street noise, which is prevalent in Hanoi. The bathroom was spacious and immaculate. It included a big bathtub and a separate modern shower. In addition, it had an electric bidet, which was the first time it had been in Vietnam for the first time. The buffet breakfast was superior to any other hotel we stayed at. It had a wide variety of choices and was delicious. The restaurant staff was pampering all guests by paying attention to their needs for extra coffee, water, juice, etc. Great service!!! Two things made me give the hotel only a four-star rating, but they do not negate any of the great things I described above. The main issue encountered during our stay was the HVAC system. I suspect the system was not designed for the subtropical location and looked vastly undersized. The thermostat was inoperable, and I suspect this issue is known. As there were no means to adjust the temperature, the air ducts delivered a continuous low air flow. I suspect that the portable dehumidifier was added to the room(s) to cope with this. It added noise and required periodic drainage at night. If the water tank was filled, it shut down the dehumidifier, and higher humidity made sleeping uncomfortable. The down comforters were very thick, forcing us to sleep partially uncovered. I wonder if lighter comforters wouldn't be a better choice as the room temperature never fell below 20C. An additional nuisance was a musty smell, which I suspect was coming from the shower drain vent. In general, it's a nice hotel, and I would give it a 5-star rating if the HVAC system worked more efficiently.
