"Technopolis In the late 1990s, Athens revived this nineteenth-century industrial gasworks district and transformed it into a cultural center whose multiple buildings still buzz with energy. This is where the Athens Jazz Festival takes place each spring, but on permanent view are museums dedicated to intriguing things like industrial gas or, ahem, the Greek opera singer Maria Callas. There are innovation symposia, craft fairs, film screening, dance events, and a positivelyvibrant young nightlife scene each evening (after all, 700,000 people show up here each year)."

Almost all machines required for gas production are visible and in good condition. Sometimes there are events on the same areal, look out for the yellow stickers at the doors of the Buildings. There you can enter.

The tickets sign at the main entrance points AWAY from where you buy tickets. I didn't see a ticket stand/office, so I asked at the shop, and was told to to buy them "inside the green door [opposite the sign directing to tickets]," but was scolded for going in that room, because it's security (not security's fault, other than they had no indication it's security, and to knock or whatever). The open exhibits are really cool, if you're an industrial process nerd 🤓 Unfortunately, 2 sections of the main tour were closed off (very disappointing to not be able to learn what I came for), as well as the watchtower, which the guide book highly recommends! There were no guided tours available, which I may have been interested in.

A very interesting place that belongs to the modern history of Athens. They offer quite often guided tours (admission fee is 1 euro per person). You will learn many things about factory and the production of the gas. During the tour you will visit many buildings and one of them has an observation deck. The majority of the machines are in very good condition. Check the schedule of the guided tours on their website. Highly recommended.

You’ll love it if you’re a mechanical geek! If you’re not interested in how gas was made you’ll hate it. We thought a look back at powering the city of Athens as recently as 1984 was interesting and terrifying. (There are videos of laborers moving coal as recently as the 80’s. See upstairs photography.)

A great spot in Athens. Gas industry of previous century meets nowdays culture. A must see for everyone, traveller or not.

There really is no "museum" there. It's an event space and they saved a few architectural peices of the old gasworks. These are labeled. That's it.

We went to watch a nice small movie in the auditorium and was pretty nice.
