Hwa Yuan is a stunning three-story Sichuan gem in Chinatown, serving up beloved dishes like Peking duck and cold sesame noodles with modern flair.
"This excellent Chinatown restaurant is doing their own delivery and takeout for the first time ever. So if you’re planning a Big Night In, or had a wonderful premonition about a bowl of mapo tofu and a gargantuan Peking duck, all you have to do is call 212-966-6002 or go online to place your order." - hannah albertine
"A whole or half Peking duck sounds good right about now. Order one of the very best in the city to your door from Hwa Yuan. You might as well get some dan dan noodles too. Check out their full menu and delivery options on their website. " - neha talreja, bryan kim, hannah albertine
"Hwa Yuan is a reboot of a restaurant from the ’80s, but unlike the last Ninja Turtles movie, this is a rebirth we’re extremely down with. It takes up two huge floors, has very large round tables, and serves Chinatown’s best Peking duck. They also have really good sesame noodles, soup dumplings, steamed fish, crispy beef, and mapo tofu. A bit more upscale than its neighbors, Hwa Yuan is also pricier, but it's absolutely worth it for the excellent food." - neha talreja, hannah albertine, diana kuan

"Hwa Yuan is a reboot of a popular Chinatown restaurant that opened in the '60s and closed in the '80s. There are multiple floors with lots of big tables covered in crisp white tablecloths, so it's an ideal choice if you want to ring in the new year with almost everyone you know. Share a whole crispy Peking duck, and don't forget to start with some pork soup dumplings and cold sesame noodles." - neha talreja
